I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I bought a fish, associate Dillon was great and helpful, nothing bad for him. Bought my fish, took them home, put them in the tank. Fish pooped out a worm, thought it was floating poop, took it out and it was moving and wiggling. Next morning the fish died. The fish in the tank above at the store were already dead too. Took the dead fish back to the store in a bag, they wouldn’t do anything. The manager was a super rude disrespectful girl. She couldn’t even look at me, my boyfriend or my friend when talking to us. She was just staring at the computer the entire time. Wouldn’t apologize, and took no accountability. She had no emotion or empathy and was basically telling us to just get out because she didn’t care. I’m attaching pictures of my dead fish so you can see. I didn’t get the managers name but it was a women with brown hair. Worst manager i’ve ever encountered.

The environment at Aquarium Adventure in Hoffman Estates is likely focused on showcasing a diverse collection of aquariums housing various species of freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as live aquatic plants. Customers can expect to see tanks of different sizes and setups, providing inspiration and examples for their own aquatic endeavors. The store would also stock a comprehensive range of aquarium supplies, including fish food, filters, heaters, lighting systems, gravel, decorations, and water treatment solutions. The layout would likely be designed to allow customers to easily browse the different sections and find the products they need to create and maintain a healthy aquatic environment for their fish.

While one customer review praised an associate named Dillon for being "great and helpful," other feedback regarding the customer service at Aquarium Adventure presents a mixed picture. One reviewer recounted a negative experience involving the purchase of a fish that died shortly after being brought home and appeared to have a parasitic worm. This customer expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the manager's handling of the situation, describing her as "super rude disrespectful" and unhelpful, with a lack of empathy or accountability. This experience raises concerns about the store's policies regarding the health of their livestock and the responsiveness of their management to customer issues.

Another review echoed concerns about inconsistent customer service, stating that employees often congregate at the customer service table, engaging in conversation rather than assisting customers. This reviewer also mentioned instances where no employees were readily available, leading to frustration and lost sales, despite the customer being a frequent and high-spending patron. However, this same reviewer also noted that at times, the employees are good or great, suggesting that the quality of service can vary significantly depending on the staff member or the time of the visit. This inconsistency in service is a point that potential customers may want to consider.

Despite the issues with customer service, the second reviewer did highlight some positive aspects of Aquarium Adventure. They specifically mentioned "great sales" and a "great" membership discount club. This suggests that the store offers opportunities for customers to save money on their purchases through discounts and a loyalty program. For budget-conscious aquarium enthusiasts, these financial incentives could be a significant draw, provided that the desired products are in stock and the shopping experience is satisfactory.

As a specialty store focused on aquatics, Aquarium Adventure likely offers a wide selection of fish species, ranging from common community fish to more exotic and rare varieties. They would also stock various types of live aquatic plants to enhance the aesthetic appeal of aquariums and contribute to a healthy ecosystem. The availability of a diverse range of fish and plants is a key feature for aquarium hobbyists looking to create unique and thriving underwater environments.

Given the specialization in aquatics, the staff at Aquarium Adventure ideally would possess knowledge and expertise in fishkeeping. While one positive interaction with an associate was noted, the negative feedback regarding other staff and management raises questions about the overall level of expertise and customer support. Potential customers may want to gauge the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff they encounter during their visits.

In conclusion, Aquarium Adventure in Hoffman Estates, IL, offers a local resource for aquarium enthusiasts, providing a variety of fish, aquatic plants, and related supplies. The store reportedly has "great sales" and a beneficial membership discount club, which could be attractive to budget-minded customers. However, there are significant concerns raised in customer reviews regarding inconsistent and sometimes very poor customer service, including issues with management and the handling of problems related to the health of purchased fish. Potential customers should be aware of these mixed reviews and may want to assess their own experiences with the store's service and the quality of their aquatic livestock and supplies. While the store may offer a good selection and potential cost savings, the reported issues with customer service and animal health are important factors for local users to consider when choosing where to purchase their aquarium needs.

Their customer service is very hit and miss, the employees like to stand around talking with each other at the customer service table instead of helping customers many times, 3 or 4 of them in a group. Or no employees are around or you have to find someone and ask them to help you, I've walked out many times without buying any fish and plants, and I usually spend a lot of money. Other times they're employees are good or great. I'd say about 1/3 or 1/4 of the time their customer service is non-existent. They have great sales and the membership discount club is great too though.

Very large tropical and subtropical fish species. Large tanks to keep everyone entertained and close enough to eye level for littles to see the fish. Came here from Lombard on a whim and left with 12 new fish. Friendly help although they seemed short staffed. The staff is very knowledgeable about what fish to place with others.

This place has a great selection of fish and aquarium plants and I come here often for plants for my tank. Most of the staff is extremely friendly, but unfortunately I had a horrible experience here recently that made me disappointed. Bought 3 African Dwarf Frogs on Dec 23th, and when I got home one of the frogs was floating weakly at the top of the bag. I decided to isolate the two living frogs in a holding tank and the one sickly one in its own water that came from the store in a second holding tank. The next morning on the 24th the weak one died, and one of the 2 frogs in the other holding tank also died. This place has a 48 hour guarantee for frogs. Unfortunately, This place was also closed on Christmas Day. I called on the 26th in the morning and explained to a male employee over the phone what happened, and he told me to bring in the frogs and he would grant me an exchange, since they were closed on Christmas Day at the 48 hour window (mind you both frogs passed within 24 hours of buying them). Drove 20 minutes to the store and was directed to speak to a female employee in charge of the aquarium section. Unlike all the other employees there, she was extremely rude. I told her I brought my dead frogs in for an exchange and she abruptly told me “Wheres your water sample? No exchange without a water sample.” (Employee over the phone did not explain I needed a water sample.) I explained to her the above situation regarding the frogs’ deaths; she cut me off and said, “Its been more than 48 hours.” I told her they passed on the 24th and they were closed Christmas Day so I couldn’t even come in if I wanted to. She replied with, “You could have called yesterday.” Really? On Christmas day when the store is closed? Not only was she rude, but didn’t even give me a chance to speak without cutting me off. Since I drove 30 mins out of my way, I decided to buy two more frogs while I was there. But honestly, if I knew they wouldn’t take them back I wouldn’t have gone back. It was a complete waste of my time.

I love going here. Its one of the few stores that let you interact with the animals before you buy them. That's so important especially when you are getting something like a hamster. I was sad they were out of dwarfs but they had a huge selection of Assyrian and they are super friendly and cuddly since they are used to being handled. I will only buy live pets from here.
