Awful place, we have been clients for many years. Our beloved dog đ was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. We opted to let him live his best life until he showed signs of suffering. Those signs came this week. I called VCA on Monday to schedule an end of life appointment for my boy. I was told, " The doctor will call you on Tuesday morning to schedule a time." I waited until 10:45 am. and decided to call them. I was then told I would not be able to bring him in as they do not have any availability. I was furious as my dog was suffering, and we have been clients for many years. And I was told I would be able to come in on Tuesday. I spoke to the office manager who explained to me they would only be able to have him come in IF they get a cancelation. I was heartbroken and lost as to what to do next. I called integrity vet services in Amherst, and they had us come right in. They put us in a private comfortable room with our sweet boy. They explained the process , timeline, etc.. I can not praise then enough for the compassion and support they gave us while going through such a tragedy. The cost was $ 150. It's so fair priced, too. I will NEVER return to VCA. THEY are cold, harsh, and money hungry.

The parking lot is quite tight, which I mention because I had to bring my work truck once and struggled a bit, but this is no bar to coming here, it's just a heads up that the lot is a little challenging if you're not in a smaller vehicle.

I had a 3 oâclock appointment, and when a little past 315 came along and I simply asked the question if itâs going to be a few more minutes or if itâs going to be a little while, the only answer I got back was âIf you canât wait anymore, we can reschedule.â. I donât really see how that is a professional response. If you donât know, you donât know. And she did say that she didnât know, but she could not give me any sort of rough estimate. She could not tell me if it was gonna be two minutes, or two hours, or anything in between. No useful information. So when I literally ask, is it going to be a few minutes, half an hour, a few hours, how much more of a wait⊠The response of, âthe technicians are busyâ, is not a real response. Itâs 2025, people are starting to get really sick of fake responses. I kept getting a lot of blow-off answers until a woman in scrubs came out from a side exam room and told me I needed to calm down. I expressed that I was still sitting in my chair and had not raised my voice. I just simply wanted to know a timeframe. Why is this so difficult? Letâs talk accountability. If I were 15 minutes late, as admitted by the vet, I would be told to reschedule for another day. Well, my time is also valuable. I also have other things to do, and scheduled my day around this appointment. I put my animal through the stress of being in a carrier and driving to the vet and being an unfamiliar places and all that jazz⊠I feel like people who take care of animals would respect the fact that that animals are going through stress by being there⊠If itâs just a giant question as to what time my appointment starts, what was the point of the appointment time? I think itâs up to the veterinary office to be able to uphold their own schedule. If they cannot, they should be able to at least tell the person waiting how much longer itâs going to be and why there is a hold up. We as customers donât get that luxury if we are going to be late. Once we got into the exam room and I expressed that idea to the vet, he did agree with me. If in fact, he said to me if I happened to wind up being 15 minutes late, they would make me reschedule. Not gonna lie, although I like this place, Iâm a little sick of them basically insisting that their time is more valuable than mine. To be clear, I do not believe my time is more valuable, I just simply believe that *everybodyâs* time is valuable, and to be simply sloughed aside is utter bullshit and shows an absolute lack of respect for the people paying them for their services. They are getting three stars because their medical expertise is accurate. They would be getting one star if it was only about customer service. And⊠as a useful tip for the desk people moving forward⊠when the exam room doors are closed, the people inside of them can still hear what youâre saying. I going to guess you donât know that since as soon as the exam door room is shut I hear you apologizing to other customers for what I was doing and making a big deal out of it. Seems a little silly. Maybe you should apologize to your customers that you canât keep your appointment times for. *shrug* Not once did I get an apology. Just attitude. Lastly, I explained to them that my cat is absolutely an escape artist, and the door needs to be shut as much as possible. I guess they didnât like me explaining to my wife the negative experience I was having, because when the tech came back to explain to me the test results of my cat, she just stood there with the door wide-open. I basically had to sit in the corner and hold him down so he wouldnât run out. Not gonna lie, for a place that cares about animals, doesnât seem like a lot of people that care about animals, or the people that own them.
