Welcome to VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital

Welcome to VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital, a dedicated pet hospital located at 400 College Dr # A, Henderson, NV 89015, USA. Serving the local community and surrounding areas, VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital aims to provide comprehensive and quality veterinary care for your beloved pets. You can reach them at (702) 565-6558 or their mobile number +1 702-565-6558.

As a pet hospital, VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital offers a range of services designed to cater to the diverse health needs of your animal companions. While specific details about the hospital's environment and facilities are not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, pet hospitals generally strive to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for both pets and their owners. This typically includes clean and well-maintained examination rooms, comfortable waiting areas, and specialized spaces for procedures such as surgery and imaging.

The services offered at a comprehensive pet hospital like VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital typically encompass preventative care, diagnostics, treatment, and surgery. Preventative care is crucial for maintaining your pet's long-term health and often includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control (such as flea, tick, and heartworm prevention), and nutritional counseling. These services help to detect potential health issues early and keep your pet healthy and happy.

Diagnostics play a vital role in identifying the cause of illness or injury in pets. Pet hospitals are usually equipped with various diagnostic tools, which may include laboratory services (for blood tests, urine analysis, and other types of testing), digital radiography (X-rays), ultrasound, and potentially more advanced imaging techniques depending on the facility's capabilities. These tools allow veterinarians to accurately assess your pet's condition and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Treatment options at a pet hospital can range from medication and supportive care for medical conditions to surgical interventions for injuries or illnesses requiring surgical correction. Veterinary hospitals often have surgical suites equipped for routine procedures as well as more complex surgeries. The availability of specialized surgical services may vary.

Based on the provided customer reviews, experiences appear to be mixed. One recent review highlights a positive experience with a vet tech named Heather, who was described as awesome with a Great Dane, and Dr. Davis, who was noted as nice and personable. This customer expressed looking forward to the hospital providing care for their pet for a long time.

However, another, more detailed review presents a significantly negative experience. This review mentions a long-standing relationship with the hospital spanning over 30 years, with a perceived decline in service quality following the passing of a former veterinarian, Dr. Winn. The specific incident described involves a distressing experience when attempting to arrange euthanasia for a terminally ill 16-year-old cat. The reviewer details a 15-minute hold time, difficulties in account identification, being quoted prices for services without initial compassion, and a perceived focus on charges rather than empathy during a sensitive time. The reviewer also mentions discrepancies in the hospital's records regarding their pet history.

Following this negative review, the hospital responded online within 24 hours, stating a desire to discuss the matter further. However, subsequent updates from the reviewer indicate a lack of follow-up despite multiple attempts to communicate, including an email sent 11 days after the initial response, an intent to sue letter sent approximately six weeks later, and a phone call to the VCA main number resulting in being transferred to voicemail. These updates suggest unresolved issues and a continued negative perception of the hospital's responsiveness and service quality by this particular customer.

It is important for potential local users to consider all available information, including both positive and negative feedback, when choosing a veterinary care provider. While one customer reported a positive recent experience, the detailed account of negative interactions and lack of follow-up raises concerns about customer service and communication in certain situations.

As a platform category, "Pet Hospital" typically implies a facility equipped to handle a wide range of medical and surgical needs for pets, going beyond basic wellness care. These hospitals often have the resources for more advanced diagnostics and treatments compared to smaller clinics. VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital, as a pet hospital, likely offers these comprehensive services. However, the provided reviews suggest that the quality of service and customer care may vary.

For local users in Henderson, NV, who are considering VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital for their pet's care, it would be prudent to weigh the positive feedback against the negative experiences shared. It may be beneficial to inquire directly about their current protocols, staff, and approach to sensitive situations, such as end-of-life care. Visiting the facility in person, if possible, could also provide insights into the environment and atmosphere of the hospital.

Promotional information is not provided in the given text. Typically, pet hospitals may offer introductory discounts for new clients, wellness plans that bundle preventative care services at a reduced cost, or seasonal promotions on specific treatments or products. To learn about any current promotions at VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital, it would be best to contact them directly via phone or visit their website if available.

In conclusion, VCA Black Mountain Animal Hospital is a pet hospital located in Henderson, NV, offering veterinary care services. While one customer review indicates positive experiences with certain staff members, another detailed review raises significant concerns regarding customer service, communication, and the handling of sensitive situations. Local users should consider these points and conduct further research or direct inquiries to make an informed decision about their pet's healthcare needs.

3 UPDATES BELOW ORIGINAL REVIEW My family has been using Black Mountain for over 30 years since I was a child. The quality of service has disintegrated since Dr Winn passed away last year. I called this morning because our cat we have had for over 16 years is at end of life and it was time to ease his passing. The woman that answered to phone asked me to hold and before I could ask if they would like us to being out cat to the back or just bring him in the front, she told me that she is the only one here and it would be a 15 minute hold. After holding, I told her that we need to bring our cat in to be put down and would they like us to bring him in the back. She only asked for my number to pull up our account. When she couldn't find us by mine or my wife's number she looked us up by name. She found us but gave me 3 pets names 2 where ours and 1 was a name I have never heard of. Then told me that since we have not brought this pet in we would have to have a $100 quality of life assessment and then started quoting me the prices for ethnicization and disposal. Obviously the only thing she cared about was how much she was going to charge us and "Well you haven't been here since 2017" Btw we have had 6 cats that Dr Winn has taken care of, and the cat I was calling about was fixed at Black Mountain and had his shots there plus one other medical issue back in 2015. One of our cats died of liver failure there and it took me 2 years to pay off the medical bills. No record of that. UPDATE 1 Within 24 hours of posting my review you replied "We would like to discuss this matter further to ensure your concerns are addressed appropriately." It has been almost 2 weeks and no response. This continues to show the quality of your business. MY EMAIL: Sat, Feb 15, 12:21 PM (11 days ago) to reviews.vcablackmountain I received your message that you wish to address my concerns further. This has turned an already traumatic situation into a devastating one. Because of this situation, my wife was robbed of the chance to be present during our beloved cat’s final moments. She was denied the closure she so deeply needed, something that can never be restored. I had to find another vet while she had to leave for work. This is after we waited since 6 am for your location to open. Your representative never even attempted to answer my simple question, should we come in the front or back door? What should have been a simple and compassionate interaction became a cold and uncaring exchange. Her only concern was getting my account information and how much she was going to charge us and insisting that we have not been taking care of our cat's medical needs, That we have never brought our cat in and the last time we came in was 2017. This was after putting us on hold for 15 minutes which is longer than it would have taken us to get to Black Mountain. This really feels like she placed us on hold for 15 min because I asked If I would ask a quick question when she before she put me on hold. UPDATE 2 4/2/2025 Still no replay from VCA Black Mountain Sent Intent to Sue Letter UPDATE 3 4/8/2025 4th attempt of contact. Called VCA on their main number 310-571-6500 and was transferred to a voicemail.

A good place to take your sick pet. Staff is great. Prices seem maybe a bit high. But probably not. I'm old and just can't wrap my head around how everything has gone up. We had to put our dog to sleep so it was a crappy day. But before that They took great care of her

My wife and I brought our puppy Biscuit in for her second round of vaccines & a general 11 week exam. All of the staff were wonderful and very pleasant to work with, and Kira went above and beyond in making us and our pup feel comfortable and calm. She is chock full of useful advice and fun stories, thank you Kira for making a fun and easy experience!

I have had a very pleasant experience here with my brand new shelter dog and a nice thorough exam. this is a nice place that does free exams for newly adopted dogs from the animal foundation, the animal foundation gives you a note to give to the vet for a free wellness exam. They were very nice and treated my dog very kind and gentle knowing he was fresh from the shelter and scared. They were so nice to him that he calmed down during the exam and then he was not even scared going back in for a second visit or scared during getting shots. I really like this place, so I read the one star reviews out of curiosity and they are all someone that sounds unfairly upset over something that doesnt sound like anyone actually did anything unkind or wrong, like them not reading emails during emergency hours or saying they will need a payment or something. I highly reccomend this place and will be back with my other dogs. Great prices on vaccines too. Very happy to have a nice place to go.
