I love this dog park. It's huge. It's located in a beautiful area. I've been looking for a decent dog park since I left California. They provide umbrella shade for when there isn't shade from the trees. I like how both sides have a "Time Out" / "Penalty Box" to seclude your dog if necessary❣️ 👍🐶🐕🦮🐕‍🦺

Location and Accessibility

Waggin Trail Dog Park is strategically located at 8200 N 91st E Ave, Owasso, OK 74055, USA. Owasso is a rapidly growing city situated just northeast of Tulsa, making this park easily accessible for residents across the greater Tulsa metropolitan area, as well as those in Owasso and its surrounding communities. Its position provides a pleasant balance between urban convenience and the expansive feel of a suburban green space.

Accessibility to Waggin Trail Dog Park is excellent, primarily by car. The park boasts "plenty of room to park," with ample free parking available nearby, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. The location, while perhaps a "little bit out of the way" for some, contributes to its spaciousness and less crowded feel compared to more central urban dog parks. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk, offering generous hours for visitors to enjoy. It is also wheelchair accessible, making it convenient for every visitor. Navigating to the park is straightforward using GPS, leading you directly to this beautiful area dedicated to canine enjoyment.

Services Offered

Waggin Trail Dog Park is equipped with a comprehensive array of services and amenities, all designed to ensure a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for dogs and their owners. The City of Owasso's commitment to this park is evident in its thoughtful provisions:

  • Expansive Fenced Off-Leash Areas: The park spans 8 acres, with 3 dedicated acres fully fenced for off-leash play. This generous space allows dogs ample room to run, sprint, and explore without feeling confined.
  • Separate Large and Small Dog Sections: To ensure safe and appropriate play, the park features distinct, fenced areas. The small dog park area is specifically designated for dogs 30 lbs. or less, while the larger area accommodates bigger breeds.
  • Large Double-Gated Entrance and Exit: Each section of the park is secured with a double-gated entry and exit system. This critical feature prevents accidental escapes and enhances safety as dogs enter and leave the off-leash areas.
  • Watering Stations: The park provides multiple watering stations to ensure fresh, clean drinking water is readily available for thirsty pups. However, it's important to note that during the winter months (typically November - March), the water is turned off to prevent freezing and damage to lines. During these times, visitors should bring their own water and bowls.
  • Waste Removal Stations: To maintain cleanliness and encourage responsible pet ownership, the park offers waste bag dispensers and trash cans for convenient disposal of dog waste.
  • Benches and Seating: Numerous benches are strategically placed throughout both dog park areas, providing comfortable spots for owners to relax, supervise their dogs, and socialize with other dog enthusiasts.
  • Leash Posts: Designated leash posts are available for temporarily securing dogs, especially useful when entering or exiting the double-gated areas.
  • "Time Out" / "Penalty Box" Areas: A unique and highly praised feature, these holding pens or secluded areas allow owners to temporarily seclude a dog if it becomes overstimulated, needs a break, or for any necessary behavioral management, without having to leave the park entirely.
  • Umbrella Shade: Beyond natural tree shade, the park provides umbrella shade structures for additional sun protection, a thoughtful amenity for Oklahoma's warm climate.
Features / Highlights

The distinctive features of Waggin Trail Dog Park are what truly elevate it as a top-tier destination for dog owners in Oklahoma. These highlights contribute to its reputation for providing an excellent and secure experience:

  • Massive Size: Its sheer scale, with 3 acres of fenced off-leash space within an 8-acre park, is a major highlight. This "huge" expanse allows for vigorous exercise and long-distance fetch.
  • Beautiful Area: The park is "located in a beautiful area," offering a pleasant and aesthetically pleasing natural setting that enhances the overall experience for both dogs and humans.
  • Separation for Safety: The clearly defined and adequately sized large and small dog sections are a crucial safety feature, preventing potential conflicts and ensuring comfortable play for all dogs.
  • Thoughtful Shade Solutions: The combination of natural tree shade and provided umbrella shade structures demonstrates a keen understanding of visitor comfort, especially during Oklahoma's hot summers.
  • Unique "Time Out" / "Penalty Box" Area: This specialized holding pen allows for effective, temporary separation of dogs if needed, promoting a safer and more harmonious play environment. It's a feature highly appreciated by users for its practical application in managing dog interactions.
  • Clean and Well-Maintained: User reviews consistently describe the park as "nice" and "clean," reflecting diligent upkeep by the City of Owasso.
  • Dog-Friendly Trail: The larger park area likely includes or borders a dog-friendly trail, allowing for a leashed stroll outside the off-leash zones.
  • Free Access and Parking: Being a municipal park, it offers free entry and ample free parking, making it an accessible resource for the community.
Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the City of Owasso, Waggin Trail Dog Park primarily offers its valuable services through free and open public access. Therefore, it does not typically engage in commercial promotions, discounts, or special offers in the way a private business might. The inherent "promotion" is its consistent availability as a high-quality, well-maintained community amenity.

However, as part of the City of Owasso's Parks Department, visitors might benefit from broader city-led initiatives or community events that could indirectly relate to the park:

  • Owasso Pet Festival: The City of Owasso Animal Control organizes an annual "Owasso Pet Festival" in October, celebrating "Adopt A Shelter Dog" month. While not held at the dog park, such events promote pet well-being and community engagement, aligning with the park's purpose.
  • Community Volunteer Days: Local volunteer groups or city initiatives may organize clean-up days or improvement projects at the park. Participating in these events offers a sense of community and directly contributes to the park's upkeep.

For the most current information regarding park rules, seasonal water availability, or any specific community events that might be held at Waggin Trail Dog Park, it is always recommended to check the official City of Owasso website or contact their Parks and Recreation department directly.

I went at 10 am on Wednesday because the dog park in broken arrow is closed on Wednesday. It’s a nice clean park nice set up and plenty of room to park but it’s kinda out of the way so no one was here expect for 2 big dogs . Not to many small dogs here

I am happy to have this dog park, we always meet nice people and my dog has a great time. Only thing that isn't so nice is after a big rain, it can get pretty muddy, and with a big white fluffy dog who adores mudd, it isn't so much fun for me, but he loves it.

Lovely place to take your dogs. There is two sides for different sized animals and double entry gates to minimize escape. There is also a time out corral for dogs that might need a break! This is also a very large park
