My dog and I absolutely love this park! It’s beautiful, well-kept, and the community is so friendly and welcoming. There are just a few design flaws that keep me from giving it five stars. First, right at the entrance, there are about 10–15 thorn bushes that dogs love to run through, and I’ve heard of a few getting scratched so you really have to watch your dog in that area. Second, there’s a pretty little section in the back corner marked with a “Sorry, no dogs allowed” sign, which feels a bit odd in a dog park. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem dangerous other than some more thorn bushes, just confusing. Lastly, the grassy area outside the park where most people park has small “No Parking” signs zip-tied to the fence. It would be more convenient if that space were turned into a proper parking lot, though it’s not a huge issue. Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I always feel happy and comfortable bringing my dog here (as long as I steer him clear of the thorn bushes!).

As a facility managed by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, Veterans Dog Park offers its "promotions" through its structured permit system, which aims to provide affordable and regulated access to its network of dog parks. An annual permit is required for access. For Will County residents, the annual permit fee is $40 for the first dog. For non-residents, the annual fee is $80. Discounts are available: if purchasing after July 1st, the fees are reduced to $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Furthermore, a $10 discount per permit is offered for seniors (65 and older), veterans, and active-duty military personnel (note that multiple discounts cannot be combined). Daily passes are available for $5 per dog, purchased in person at a visitor center, which is a good option for occasional visitors or those wishing to try out the park before committing to an annual membership. Each permit can include up to three dogs, with additional fees for the second and third dog. All dogs must be at least six months old and have a current rabies tag number and expiration date on file. Permit holders are required to wear their ID lanyard visibly while in the park. These structured fees and discount options serve as the primary "promotional" aspect, ensuring consistent funding for the park's maintenance and accessibility for a broad range of local dog owners in Illinois.
