I have to thank the City of Safety Harbor for making this space available. First, the area chosen (when compared to other cities) is not near any highway or bustling city traffic. Although it is under electrical power lines. Where I think some people will have some objections, not me. The area is sunny, and there is plenty of grassy area for your dog to run. There are doggy poop bags available. Fourth, it would be nice if the bench would be inside the enclosure, but there is a bench right outside the enclosure at the entrance. There was no water available.

Welcome to Safety Harbor Dog Run

For dog owners in Safety Harbor, Florida, providing a safe and expansive environment for their canine companions to truly stretch their legs is a high priority. The Safety Harbor Dog Run, located on Railroad Avenue, is a valuable public space that caters specifically to this need. This isn't your typical bustling social dog park; it's a straightforward, fully fenced area designed for off-leash running, playing fetch, and providing ample space for dogs to burn off energy. For those seeking a reliable, secure spot for their dog to sprint and explore without the distractions of heavy traffic or large crowds, this dog run is an excellent choice.

Many local dog owners appreciate the thoughtful placement of this dog run, noting that the "area chosen (when compared to other cities) is not near any highway or bustling city traffic," offering a more tranquil environment for their pets. While it is located "under electrical power lines," this doesn't detract from its primary function as a wide-open, grassy space. Visitors consistently praise the fact that it's "completely fenced with latching gate," providing peace of mind for owners. The "flat area" with "grass is cut short" and "well-established (not muddy)" ensures a clean and enjoyable surface for play. Described as a useful, fenced-in acre, it's "exactly as it's advertised," perfect for "playing fetch or allowing your dog to sprint off leash." While it may not be the best venue for "very social dogs because it's unlikely you'll see another family," it excels as a secluded and functional space for active dogs who love to "sniff, explore, fetch, and sprint."

Location and Accessibility

The Safety Harbor Dog Run is located at 2199-1951 Railroad Ave, Safety Harbor, FL 34695, USA. This specific address points to a dedicated, spacious plot of land distinct from the larger Safety Harbor City Park's dog park. Its location along Railroad Avenue offers a somewhat secluded feel, contributing to the quiet atmosphere appreciated by many users.

Accessing the Safety Harbor Dog Run is relatively simple, though visitors should note that parking is "limited" with "3-4 parking spots" directly at the site. This suggests that it's designed for more localized, quick visits rather than extended stays or large gatherings. The park is generally open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, providing a generous window for visits throughout the day, accommodating various schedules. It's important to keep dogs leashed when approaching and leaving the fenced enclosure. While the park's location under power lines is mentioned by some, it doesn't typically impede the enjoyment of the open space. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on hours or any temporary closures, consulting the City of Safety Harbor's official Leisure Services or Parks and Recreation website is advisable.

A useful, fenced-in area. Exactly as it's advertised, this acre is available for playing fetch or allowing your dog to sprint off leash. Pros: completely fenced with latching gate, flat area, no holes to fall in, grass is cut short, grass is well-established (not muddy), trash and poop bags available for use, secluded location. Cons: Limited shade before 6pm, no seating, no restrooms, no foot wash, 3-4 parking spots. I recommend it for pups who love to sniff, explore, fetch, and sprint. Not the best venue for very social dogs because it's unlikely you'll see another family.

This dog park is just a semi-large fenced-in area for your dog to play. There is no water but there are dog bags and a trash can. If you decide to check it out watch out for dog poop. Unfortunately, guests don't pick up after their pets. Most importantly bring water and a bowl for your furry friend.

Nice hidden gem to let the dogs run off some energy. This is a no frills kinda place. There usually a few tennis balls laying around and clean up bags. I like that it's one family at a time. My dog is really timid around other dogs and regular parks overwhelm him.

Pretty much a fenced in square. Not that big. Maybe 4 parking spaces, but no one else was there. I left after 10 min, another couple showed up with their dog and left after 5 minutes. No where to sit down.
