This is a great place if you take the original description with a grain of salt. Picnic tables would have been nice considering most “seating” is rusted out lawn furniture. This is the ONLY seating options in the smaller yard. I am not sure about the bigger yard as I have two small corgis. **photos are from small yard only**

Pets and People Dog Park delivers on this promise, offering a truly special place where local canines can enjoy the freedom of off-leash play while their owners connect with fellow pet enthusiasts. From its well-maintained grounds to its invaluable natural pond, this park has cultivated a reputation as a favorite spot for dog lovers throughout the region.

Location and Accessibility

Pets and People Dog Park is conveniently situated at 701 Inla Ave, Yukon, OK 73099, USA. Its location in Yukon makes it highly accessible for residents within Yukon itself, as well as those traveling from neighboring communities such as Mustang, Bethany, and western Oklahoma City. The park is easily reachable, located just two blocks south of Historic Route 66 and readily accessible from I-40, ensuring a straightforward drive for visitors from various parts of the metro area.

The park is positioned in an area that allows for relatively easy navigation, typically involving well-maintained city streets. While specific details on dedicated parking lots are not extensively provided in public reviews, its standing as a well-established community amenity suggests adequate parking solutions are available nearby, contributing to a hassle-free arrival. The general accessibility of Pets and People Dog Park is a key factor in its popularity, enabling regular visits for dog owners looking to provide their pets with consistent outdoor exercise and social interaction. Its slightly "hidden away from the main road" location, as noted by one reviewer, can be a plus for those seeking a more tranquil setting away from heavy traffic.

Services Offered

  • Expansive Off-Leash Play Areas: The park spans approximately three acres, providing a vast, fully fenced space where dogs can run freely and engage in energetic play without the constraints of a leash. This ample room is crucial for larger breeds and highly active dogs.
  • Separate Small Dog Area: Pets and People Dog Park features a dedicated, fully fenced section specifically for small dogs. This ensures a safer and more comfortable environment for smaller breeds to play without feeling overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous canines.
  • Natural Spring-Fed Pond: An invaluable and frequently praised feature is the park's natural spring-fed pond. This allows dogs to cool off, swim, and splash, providing an excellent source of enrichment and exercise, especially during Oklahoma’s warmer months. Reviews highlight carp in the pond keeping it clean, and also mention "ducks, frogs and turtles" contributing to the wildlife around the area.
  • Water Bowls and Fresh Water: To ensure hydration for active dogs, water bowls and fresh water are available throughout the park, allowing owners to easily refresh their pets.
  • Waste Bag Dispensers and Trash Cans: The park provides dog waste bags and conveniently placed cans, encouraging responsible pet ownership and contributing to the park's noted cleanliness. User reviews praise the availability of "plenty of doggy do bags in 3 locations" and that "trash is emptied daily into the city waste receptacle for weekly pick up."
  • Shaded Areas and Seating: The park boasts "beautiful tall shade trees" along the edges, offering natural shaded spots for both dogs and owners to rest and cool down. While some "seating" is described as "rusted out lawn furniture" in the smaller yard, the presence of benches and chairs generally provides places for owners to relax.

Features / Highlights

  • The Invaluable Pond: The spring-fed pond is a significant differentiator, providing a rare and highly appreciated opportunity for dogs to swim and cool off. This natural water feature is a huge draw, especially during hot Oklahoma summers, and contributes significantly to the dogs' enjoyment.
  • Spaciousness and Layout: With three acres divided into separate areas for small and large dogs, the park offers ample room for all dogs to run and play. Reviewers consistently mention "lots of land" and "huge area for big dogs to run," allowing for energetic "zoomies."
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Despite being a public park, many reviews highlight its "well kept and clean" nature, indicating that volunteers and possibly park staff do an excellent job maintaining the grounds. This commitment to cleanliness significantly enhances the user experience.
  • Not Overly Crowded: Multiple reviews mention that the park is "not ever crowded" or "rarely busy," which is a major plus for many dog owners. This allows for more relaxed interactions and less stress for both dogs and their handlers, making it an ideal spot for dogs that might be overwhelmed in very busy environments.
  • Natural Environment and Wildlife: The park offers a chance to "reconnect with nature," with lush grass, mature trees, and the wildlife around the pond (ducks, frogs, turtles). This provides a more natural and stimulating environment than some purely urban dog parks.
  • Safety and Security: The park is "totally fenced with 5-foot chain link fencing" and features a "double gated entry area for safety," providing a secure off-leash environment. Rules such as required spaying/neutering for dogs over 6 months and up-to-date vaccinations contribute to a safer communal space.

Promotions or Special Offers

As Pets and People Dog Park operates as a public, free-access amenity, it does not typically offer traditional commercial promotions or special offers in the way a private business might. There are no advertised discounts, membership programs, or loyalty rewards. The primary "offer" is the provision of a high-quality, well-maintained, and free-to-use off-leash dog park.

However, the park is associated with "Pets & People," which is a humane society. While the dog park itself is free and open to the public, and a previous requirement for membership/waiver at the office seems to have been discontinued, any indirect "promotions" would likely come in the form of calls for donations to help maintain the park. The Pets & People website states, "It is very expensive for us to maintain this “free” park, so all donations are gleefully accepted at our shelter." Therefore, supporting the Pets & People organization through donations could be seen as contributing to the continued "offer" of this excellent community resource. For any potential events or community initiatives, it would be best to check with Pets & People Humane Society directly or monitor their social media channels.

After I found this place, there is no other dog park for me. Well kept and clean. The pond is invaluable. There are carp out there keeping it clean. Wonderful wildlife around the area.

Great park with a big pond in the middle. The outer latch on the large dog gate is faulty, which led to a wild chase one day for me, so be aware. Open to the public and easy to get to, if a little tucked back off the beaten path. Mosquitoes are rampant due to the pond, highly suggest bug spray!

We just found out about this dog park. We have been driving to midwest city to let our big dogs run. So glad to find this park. Our dogs love it here. It's close to home and plenty of room for our pups to run. Our youngest loves the pond. We have been twice in the last 2 days. Day one she bounced around in the pond. Day two, she met another dog that chased a toy into the deep part. She watched a couple times and then stared grabbing the other dogs toy and putting it in the water to watch her swim. After a bit, she got up thr courage to give it a shot. She now loves to swim lol. Really nice place with 4 Acres and a pond for them to play. They have a separate smaller area as well. Definitely a place to wear out your pups. Ours slept the rest of the evening and all night long. Lol
