It's a beautiful place, and I drove here bc I googled dog friendly beaches....BUT I just had a very stressful experience there as an older lady in a chair got up and started blowing her whistle....at my dogs, screaming at me and them, and the hotel staff behind her was also screaming at me, after I leashed my dogs, that btw didn't come at her, until she blew her whistle🙄, are non aggressive, didn't even touch any human or animal, and were already back on leash. This Google search is misleading.

This isn't just a place for a quick potty break; it’s an invitation to share the joy of our stunning Florida beaches with our most loyal companions.

Old Salt Park is a true local treasure, allowing us to incorporate our dogs into our beach-going lifestyle. Location and Accessibility

Old Salt Park Dog Friendly is located at 16th Rd, Palm Coast, FL 32137, USA. This address places it directly on the beautiful Flagler County coastline, within easy reach for residents of Palm Coast and the surrounding areas. The park is nestled amidst the scenic Ocean Hammock Resort area, offering a picturesque backdrop for your beach outing.

Accessibility to Old Salt Park is generally straightforward. There is "plenty of parking spaces" available, making it convenient to arrive and quickly get onto the sand. Reviews often highlight the "Super easy parking right next to the entry to the beach," which is a significant advantage, especially with an excited dog in tow. The park provides direct beach access, often via a boardwalk or a short sandy path, ensuring a smooth transition from your car to the shoreline. While some online mapping services might give slightly misleading directions, visitors are advised to "Keep going more towards the Atlantic Grille restaurant" if encountering issues, as the park is easily found directly at the end of 16th Road East. Its presence within Flagler County means it adheres to county-wide regulations for dog-friendly beaches, which are important for all visitors to note.

Services Offered

As a dog-friendly beach access point rather than a traditional enclosed dog park, Old Salt Park offers services geared towards a pleasant beach experience for both humans and their canine companions. These include:

  • Dog-Friendly Beach Access: The primary service is providing a designated section of the beach where "Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the beach." This allows dogs to enjoy the sand and surf alongside their owners.
  • Restrooms: For human convenience, the park provides "restrooms" that are typically clean and easily accessible from the parking area.
  • Outdoor Rinsing Showers: A crucial amenity for a beach park, outdoor showers are available to "rinse off" sand and saltwater from both humans and dogs before getting back into the car.
  • Ample Parking: The park boasts "plenty of parking spaces," including "36 regular parking spots & 2 handicapped spots," ensuring visitors can usually find a place to park their vehicle.
  • Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables available, allowing visitors to enjoy a meal or snack while taking a break from the beach.
  • Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: The natural setting offers chances for "wildlife viewing," adding another layer of enjoyment to your visit.
  • Leash Rule Adherence: While not a service, it's a critical rule for responsible enjoyment: "your pooch must be on a leash." This is a consistent rule for dog-friendly beaches in Flagler County.

Features / Highlights

Old Salt Park Dog Friendly offers several distinctive features that make it a cherished spot for dog owners in Flagler County:

  • Direct Beach Access: The most significant highlight is the direct and easy access to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean beach, allowing dogs to enjoy the sand and waves alongside their families.
  • Coquina Rock Formations: The park provides access to the unique and fascinating coquina rock formations, which are characteristic of this part of Florida's coastline. These natural structures create interesting areas for exploration and offer shallow tide pools for smaller dogs to enjoy.
  • Natural Coastal Environment: The undeveloped, natural beauty of the beach, with its wide-open spaces, offers a refreshing escape from urban environments. It's a place where dogs can truly experience the wildness of the coast.
  • Convenient Facilities: The presence of on-site restrooms and outdoor showers (for both humans and dogs) significantly enhances the comfort and practicality of a beach visit.
  • Spacious Beachfront: Despite being a specific access point, the beach itself offers "a long stretch of beach to walk," ensuring plenty of room for dogs and their owners to spread out and enjoy the area without feeling crowded.
  • Leashed Dog Policy: While one review mentioned a stressful encounter regarding leash policy, the consistent enforcement of a leash rule (as per Flagler County regulations) can also be seen as a highlight for owners who prefer a more controlled environment for their pets, or those with smaller or more timid dogs who might be overwhelmed by off-leash interactions.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public park and beach access point managed by Flagler County, Old Salt Park Dog Friendly does not offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional retail sense. Its inherent value is that it provides free, public access to a beautiful dog-friendly beach, which is a significant "offer" in itself for local residents and visitors alike. There are no entry fees or special passes required to bring your leashed dog to this section of the beach.

However, the Flagler County Parks and Recreation department or local community groups might occasionally host special events or initiatives at county parks and beaches, which could indirectly involve Old Salt Park. These might include beach clean-up drives, educational programs about coastal ecosystems, or community gatherings that encourage responsible pet ownership. To stay informed about any such activities, Flagler County residents should regularly check the official Flagler County government website, particularly the Parks & Recreation section, or community calendars for Palm Coast. Local pet-related social media groups or news outlets might also announce relevant events that enhance the experience of visiting dog-friendly beaches in the area.

Very fun to take my dogs too. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the waves can be pretty bad so the smaller dogs may not get to enjoy the beach as much. Parking was close and everyone seemed to be handling their dogs well too.

Take your dogs here and get away from the crowds so they can run. Just a hint, dogs love to run and they need it more than you know. Don’t let the people without dogs deter your from letting your dogs enjoy this place!

We always trying to travel with our dogs so i am in constant search of places who allow me to take them as well. Finding this beach was amazing except my pup stepping into someone bubble gum that was hidden in the sand. I had to do quite a work to trim it out of her paw. People please be more aware of your actions and don’t throw your trash in the sand. I clean after my dog, you clean after yourself.

Great place to visit with your pups, just note LEASHES ARE REQUIRED. If you are looking to let your dog loose, this isn’t the place. Water is kinda choppy for swimming, but there are bathrooms close by which is nice. Quiet little place to spend the day.
