Nice, quiet, pleasant. Mostly dirt, so wouldn’t recommend after a rain, but it worked well for my dogs & me. Separate small & large (32+ lbs) fenced areas, very welcome bench & picnic table in the small dog area. Right next to the San Lorenzo Creek, lotsa nice trees. Easy to find with off-street parking. Good job Hayward! One suggestion, if I may: when school playgrounds get their mulch/bark stuff replaced, put the old stuff in the dog park to help reduce mud.

Welcome to Old Creek Dog Park of Cherryland

Introduction / Overview

For dog owners in Hayward, California, and the broader East Bay region, the Old Creek Dog Park of Cherryland offers a "nice, quiet, pleasant" retreat for their furry companions. Located at 400 Hampton Rd, Hayward, CA 94541, USA, this dedicated off-leash area provides a secure and comfortable environment for dogs to socialize, play, and expend energy. What truly sets this park apart, especially during California's warmer months, is its "lot of shade for a part of the bay area that tends to be very hot," thanks to the numerous trees bordering the park and the adjacent San Lorenzo Creek.

The Old Creek Dog Park is a thoughtfully designed facility, featuring "separate small & large (32+ lbs) fenced areas." This crucial feature ensures that dogs of different sizes and play styles can enjoy their off-leash time safely and comfortably. While the surface is "mostly dirt," which might lead to mud after rain, its overall appeal as a secure, shaded, and community-oriented space remains high. It's an essential resource for responsible pet owners in Hayward, offering a consistent and reliable spot for daily exercise and vital canine interaction. "Good job Hayward!" as one satisfied visitor remarked, highlighting the park's positive impact on the local community.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public municipal park amenity managed by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD), the Old Creek Dog Park of Cherryland does not offer traditional commercial "promotions" or "special offers" like discounts or loyalty programs. Its primary "offer" to the community is its continuous provision of a valuable, free, and accessible public space for dog recreation.

The inherent value for locals is the sustained availability of a spacious, securely fenced off-leash environment with essential amenities like separate dog areas, ample natural shade, seating, and provided waste bags. This significantly enhances the quality of life for pet owners in Hayward and surrounding communities by providing a safe, comfortable, and stimulating outlet for their dogs' energy and social needs, all without any admission fees.

Any "promotions" or special events associated with the park would most likely be community-driven initiatives or programs organized by HARD. These could include educational workshops on responsible pet ownership, pet adoption events (though likely in the broader park, not strictly the dog run), or community clean-up days. Such events would be communicated through official district channels, local community boards, or the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District website. For locals, the most consistent "special offer" is the peace of mind and enjoyment derived from having such a well-equipped, shaded, and friendly dog park readily available in their neighborhood.

A lot of shade for a part of the bay area that tends to be very hot. Just sad that none of the dog owners picked up after their dogs despite having free poop bags at the park.

Its a nice place to take your dog. They have a large dog side and a small dog side. There is water for the dogs. The area is nice for running and playing but it does get dusty. I always have to bathe my dog after going there . There is plenty of chairs to sit and some shade.

I really love the large dog dog runs. I have 100 lb Cane corso at 80 lb pitbull they have plenty room to run around up and down. It was nice, clean and a very peaceful place

Small but good shade and dirt vs woodchips. We enjoyed ruining around here. People were nice and quick to correct their dogs. Ample street parking and a few spots in a lil car park outside the parks
