Its prime position along the San Leandro shoreline means you're treated to refreshing bay breezes and scenic views, making the visit enjoyable for both you and your dog. While the park itself is a bit of a walk from the main parking lot, many visitors find this short stroll to be a pleasant part of the experience. The trail leading to the dog park runs right alongside the ocean, offering beautiful vistas and a gentle warm-up before your dog's playtime begins.
Parking is available, though it can sometimes be a bit snug given the popularity of Marina Park and all its amenities. ### Services Offered
Marina Dog Park focuses on providing a safe and stimulating environment for dogs to play off-leash. While it doesn't offer human-staffed services like grooming or training, it provides essential amenities that enhance the experience for all users. These include:
- Separate Large and Small Dog Areas: To ensure the safety and comfort of all canine visitors, Marina Dog Park features distinct sections for large and small dogs. This separation allows smaller breeds to play without intimidation and larger dogs to romp freely with peers their own size, minimizing potential conflicts and maximizing enjoyment for everyone.
- Water Fountains: Both the large and small dog sections are equipped with water sources, ensuring your pets stay hydrated during their active playtime. While the human-accessible part of the fountain might sometimes be a bit dirty, it's always a good idea to bring your own water bottle just in case, but your dog will appreciate the readily available water.
- Doggie Poop Bags: Convenient dispensers for dog waste bags are available throughout the park, promoting responsible pet ownership and helping maintain the cleanliness of the area. This thoughtful provision makes it easy for owners to clean up after their pets, contributing to a pleasant environment for all.
### Features / Highlights
Marina Dog Park is more than just an open field; it boasts several features that make it a favorite among local dog owners:
- Agility Equipment: For the more athletic and playful pups, the park offers a range of agility equipment, including ramps and balance beams. These structures provide excellent opportunities for dogs to challenge themselves, hone their skills, and burn off extra energy in a fun and engaging way.
- Spacious Off-Leash Areas: With 58,000 square feet of open space, Marina Dog Park provides ample room for dogs to run, chase, and explore. This generous layout ensures that even on busy days, there's enough space for all dogs to enjoy themselves without feeling crowded.
- Bay Views: One of the most significant highlights is the stunning view of the San Francisco Bay. Imagine watching your dog joyfully playing against the backdrop of sparkling water and distant hills – it's a truly picturesque setting that enhances the overall park experience.
- Seating and Covered Picnic Table: For human companions, the park includes multiple benches within the enclosures, offering comfortable spots to rest and observe their dogs. Additionally, a covered picnic table provides a shaded area, perfect for relaxing or enjoying a snack while your dog plays.
- Dirt and Crushed Rock Surface: The primary ground cover is a mix of dirt and crushed rocks. While it may not be a lush green lawn, it's a practical surface that holds up well to heavy dog traffic. There might be some grassy patches, though sometimes they are more weeds than grass, but the middle part of the park usually remains clear for running.
### Promotions or Special Offers
As a public dog park managed by the city, Marina Dog Park does not typically offer direct promotions or special offers in the traditional commercial sense. However, the true "special offer" here is the free access to a fantastic facility that promotes the health, happiness, and socialization of your dog. Occasionally, local dog groups or organizations might host meet-ups or events at the park, such as the "Dog Sitting Swap Meetup" which was advertised for late August to early September 2024. These events, often free or low-cost, provide additional opportunities for community engagement and specialized activities. Keep an eye on local community calendars or social media groups dedicated to San Leandro dog owners for announcements about such gatherings.

Jan 19, 2025 · wayne tindallGreat view right on the water edge with a large, flat park for dogs to run around in. Small cement structures and plastic/metal agility equipment for dogs to play on. Has a separate small dog enclosure. Often has weeds along the edges but the middle part stays clear. Multiple benches inside plus a covered picnic table. A drinking fountain for dogs and humans though it is so dirty on top I would not suggest a human drink from it. It’s a short walk from the parking lot and there are bathrooms by the playground there.
May 24, 2025 · Tor CIt's a nice park. Being handicapped I wish the parking was a little bit closer. But it's still doable. Everybody in the big dog area were very nice. There's only one water fountain so bring some water. Plenty of seats no shade. There are obstacles for your fur baby to run up and down and through. My biggest issue is that there is no grass or very little. It's all hard packed sand. So if you got booties for your fur baby I would probably bring them. All in all a good experience. It was clean and people seem to pick up after their babies.
Jan 09, 2025 · Jose RodriguezThis dog park is one of my top favorite parks when it comes to fenced dog parks. You have two sides, one for little dogs and the other one for big dogs. There’s doggie water fountains and doggie bags. You get a great view from the planes landing and also an amazing view of San Francisco!
Apr 21, 2023 · Walter W.Beautiful grounds! We enjoy that our dog can either get exercise in the designated dog play area or on the pavement paths around the marina. Love that it's sand in the play area. Make a great option after rain since it's porous and not muddy. Workout equipment and active areas for humans with a park for kids. If you have a dog, just be a good citizen and clean up their poop. Also, mind your dog manners. We had a dog jump the fence from the path and immediately snap at our ironically docile 10 month old 90lb Rottweiler puppy and the owner was waaaayyyy too non-chalant about it. We'd met the dog before and were impressed by his athleticism. Today we were disappointed in this experience mainly because of the owners lack of response to our polite requests for him to come grab his dog. (It's the black dog with the white patch wearing the studded collar in the picture sniffing the creamy colored dog. The owner is a tall slim guy with long hair.) But the park, aside from un-picked up poop, is awesome. A favorite in addition to Alameda Dog Park, Point Isabel, and Joaquim Miller Park.
