I have been coming here for years, but for some reason every time I come now, the park is closed. They used to have it closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. Now it’s Wednesdays and Thursdays. There is never a newsletter that goes about these kind of changes. The park is hardly patrolled and a lot of people have had their dogs fight other dogs that I’ve had to personally get involve and separate. They either need to have a ranger on duties and not just in call, at all times, and keep the park open 7 days a week. It’s entirely pointless to close this park 2 days out of the week if it’s not even being properly watched or maintained.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents of Ocala, Florida, Letty Towles Dog Park stands as an exceptionally suitable and valuable resource for their canine companions. Its comprehensive design and city management make it a prime choice for regular dog park visits, supporting both the physical and social well-being of local pets.

Firstly, the sheer size of the park, spanning 4.5 acres, is a significant advantage. This generous space allows dogs to truly stretch their legs, sprint, and play vigorously, which is essential for their health, especially for high-energy breeds. The thoughtful inclusion of separate, securely fenced areas for large and small dogs is another major benefit. This separation minimizes the risk of incidents between vastly different-sized dogs and ensures that all pups can play comfortably and confidently within their appropriate groups. This commitment to safety and inclusivity is highly valued by responsible Floridian dog owners.

Secondly, the array of amenities provided elevates the park experience beyond just an open field. The splash pad is a fantastic feature, particularly during Florida's warm months, offering a fun way for dogs to cool down. Concrete tunnels add an element of adventure and enrichment. For human companions, the ample shaded seating areas under beautiful oak trees provide much-needed respite from the sun, allowing owners to supervise their pets comfortably for extended periods. The provision of water stations and waste bags further emphasizes the park's practical design, making visits convenient and clean.

While recent reviews indicate concerns regarding aggressive dog behavior and the need for more consistent patrolling, these points highlight the universal truth that the quality of a dog park experience is a shared responsibility. The City of Ocala closes the park two days a week for maintenance, demonstrating an effort to keep the grounds healthy, though consistency in monitoring behavior would further enhance safety. For engaged and responsible local dog owners who actively supervise their pets and adhere to park rules, Letty Towles Dog Park offers an unparalleled environment for canine exercise and socialization. Its robust features and commitment to providing a dedicated play space make it an indispensable part of Ocala's pet-friendly community.

Great place to go! But some people need to realize that if your dog is aggressive towards other animals, they should not be attending this park with others around. I just had a close call with a dog there the other day even after the owner warned me of his dog. He's dog still managed to go after mine.

Smokey loves it, he plays with the big dogs. Tons of room to run around, swimming pools and watering bowls are placed around and poop bags are also there. They have two separate areas for dogs under 18" tall, and an area for dogs over 18". Shaded area for fur babies mom's and dads to converse in talking about our babies. I have had hours of wonderful conversations, it's nice to have a place like this so we can communicate and watch our puppies without fear. And , can you believe it, it's free!!!

Letty Towles Dog Park is definitely a great place for socializing your puppy. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were about 6-8 dogs at any given time. Everyone there seemed really friendly and their dogs were too. You definitely have to keep an eye on your pup in the event there is a skiddish dog. The park is separated into two sections, one for big dogs and one for smaller dogs. I had the pleasure of using the big dog section. There is plenty of room for your dog to run and play fetch. The park is clean and well maintained. There is a sprinkler and baby pools for your pups if it’s too warm. There is water bowls with fresh and clean water. Plenty of shade (pavilion & trees) as well so you’re not completely exposed to the sun. There are sitting areas that are spread apart throughout the park so you aren’t on top of other people. Definitely a must go, if you are a dog parent!

One of the best dog parks little Muffin ever had the joy of running around and collecting sniffs. All the other dogs present were friendly as well as there human companions.
