For a loves this is one of their best dog parks. It’s big compared to the other truck stop dog parks. Plenty of space to throw a ball for some exercise. However, downside is.. the poop bags are not often stocked, there is a sprinkler leak or something causing a huge puddle in one of the corners. My dog is always trying to play in it… been that way for over a year now… also some of the gates lack the integrity to hold back a dog and are latched with a cloth strap.

This dog park is part of the larger Love's Travel Stops network, which has been consistently adding dog parks to its locations across the nation to cater to the growing number of travelers with pets. In Hampshire, it’s noted as "one of their best dog parks" and is considered "big compared to the other truck stop dog parks." This generous size provides "plenty of space to throw a ball for some exercise," allowing dogs to truly run and expend energy after a car ride or simply as part of their daily routine.
While some visitors correctly identify it as primarily a "gas station feature" or a "small fenced in portion of a parkway," its very existence provides a crucial service. For many, it's a "nice gas station feature" that allows a quick and safe potty break and some much-needed off-leash time, making travel with dogs significantly easier. It's a pragmatic solution for immediate needs, striving to be "well maintained" and offering a secure environment for quick exercise. For Illinois locals and those passing through, this dog park serves as a convenient and accessible spot for your furry friend.

. This address places it directly at a Love's Travel Stop, typically found just off major highways. For Illinois residents, particularly those in the far western suburbs of Chicago or along the I-90 corridor, this location offers exceptional accessibility. As part of a travel stop, the park benefits from extremely easy access for vehicles. There is ample parking available for both cars and larger vehicles like RVs and trucks, making it a stress-free stop for all types of travelers. Its proximity to US Route 20 and I-90 makes it an ideal "pit stop" for those on longer journeys, providing a much-needed break for pets.
For local residents in Hampshire and nearby communities, the dog park’s location offers a straightforward drive to a dedicated off-leash area. While not a standalone community park, its integration into a major travel stop means it's designed for quick, convenient, and frequent use. This ease of access ensures that dog owners can efficiently provide their pets with exercise and a safe space to stretch their legs, whether they are running errands or embarking on a road trip across Illinois or beyond.
- Fully Fenced Off-Leash Area: The primary service is providing a secure, "fully fenced area" where dogs can safely roam and play without a leash. This ensures peace of mind for owners, especially in a busy travel stop environment.
- Ample Space for Exercise: While its exact dimensions are stated as approximately 50 by 100 feet at many Love's locations, for a truck stop dog park, it is considered "big" and offers "plenty of space to throw a ball for some exercise."
- Pet Waste Stations: The park is equipped with "convenient waste stations" and "trash receptacles," although users note that "poop bags are not often stocked," so it's always recommended to bring your own.
- 24/7 Access: As part of a travel stop, the dog park is typically "open 24 hours per day, seven days a week," providing flexibility for pet owners to stop at any time.
- Basic Obstacles (Vary by location): Some Love's dog parks are "equipped with various obstacles to keep your canine companion engaged and active," although availability at this specific location is not explicitly confirmed by reviews.
- Seating Area: While not always guaranteed, there is the "potential for a seating area" with benches and picnic tables at many Love's dog parks, offering a place for owners to rest.
- Proximity to Other Amenities: Being located at a Love's Travel Stop means convenient access to restrooms, fast food, coffee, and fuel for human companions.
- Fully Fenced and Secure: The most important feature is its "fully fenced area," providing a safe and contained environment for off-leash play. This is particularly valuable in a high-traffic area like a travel stop.
- Larger Than Typical Truck Stop Dog Parks: Reviewers highlight that this specific Love's dog park is "big compared to the other truck stop dog parks," offering more room for dogs to run and play.
- Convenient for Travelers: Its location directly at a Love's Travel Stop makes it incredibly convenient for road trippers needing a quick, safe, and efficient place for their dogs to stretch their legs and relieve themselves.
- 24/7 Availability: Being open around the clock is a significant advantage, providing flexibility for pet owners regardless of their travel schedule or time of day.
- Gravel, Grass, and Turf Surfaces: Love's dog parks often feature a mix of surfacing (turf, grass, and gravel), which aims to provide varied textures and better drainage, although a "huge puddle in one of the corners" suggests drainage issues at this particular location.
- Waste Stations: The presence of waste stations, despite potential stocking issues, indicates an effort to support cleanliness and responsible pet ownership.
- Part of a Larger Dog-Friendly Network: This dog park is part of Love's broader initiative to be pet-friendly, making it a reliable feature for those who frequently travel the highways of Illinois and across the country.
The Dog Park at Love's Travel Stops in Hampshire, IL, as a complimentary amenity provided by a commercial business, does not typically offer traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a retail store might. Its primary benefit is being a free and accessible facility for all dog owners.
However, the "offer" here is the value-added service it provides to customers of Love's Travel Stops. This includes:
- Free Access: The dog park is free to use for anyone who stops at the Love's Travel Stop, whether they are fueling up, grabbing food, or simply passing by.
- Convenience for Customers: For travelers with pets, the dog park is an integral part of the "top-tier hospitality" that Love's aims to offer. It serves as a strong incentive for dog owners to choose Love's over other travel stops that may not have such dedicated pet facilities.
- 24/7 Availability: The park's round-the-clock access is a significant benefit, especially for those traveling at odd hours.
While there are no monetary discounts associated directly with the dog park, Love's Travel Stops generally offers promotions and loyalty programs for fuel and in-store purchases through their "My Love Rewards Program" and mobile app. These broader promotions could indirectly benefit dog owners who utilize the dog park while taking advantage of other Love's services. For example, using the Love's Connect App can sometimes provide fuel savings.
It's important for users to be aware that while the park is free, responsible pet ownership is expected. This includes cleaning up after your dog, and as noted in reviews, it's wise to "bring your own poop bags" as stock can vary. Also, owners should assess the integrity of the gates if their dog is an escape artist, as some "lack the integrity to hold back a dog and are latched with a cloth strap."
For the most up-to-date information on any general Love's Travel Stops promotions that might indirectly benefit dog owners, or to learn more about their broader amenities, visit the official Love's Travel Stops website or download their mobile application.

Aug 27, 2022 · FreddieYipes. This is just a small fenced in portion of a parkway at a truck rest stop/fast food drive through. I would not call this a dog park. If your dog has to pee while you're getting gas I suppose it's a nice gas station feature. It well maintained, but super wee. My dog was sad.
