This is a very nice park but the problem is, big dogs are always on the little dog side so my little pup can never get to enjoy the park. Every time I visit, there are big dogs on both sides. This is frustrating. I was here couple months ago with my small dog and (5) big dogs attacked him on the little dog side and he is 20lbs good thing I was right there to grab him!!!! Please take your big dogs to the big side!!.

Welcome to Diogi Dog Park
For dog owners across Florida, finding the ideal outdoor space for your beloved canine companion is a key part of maintaining their health and happiness. Our beautiful Sunshine State encourages an active, outdoor lifestyle, and our furry family members deserve a place where they can truly thrive. In the Mulberry area, Diogi Dog Park stands out as a highly-regarded destination, offering a dedicated and spacious environment for dogs to run, play, and socialize off-leash. Located within the expansive Loyce E. Harpe Park, this facility is designed to cater to the energetic needs of dogs while providing a comfortable and convenient experience for their human companions.
Diogi Dog Park is more than just a fenced-in area; it's a community hub where dogs can engage in vital exercise and social interaction, and owners can connect with fellow pet enthusiasts. While any public dog park relies on the responsible behavior of its users, Diogi offers a strong foundation of amenities and features that make it a valuable resource for locals. This article will provide a detailed overview of Diogi Dog Park, highlighting its location, the services it provides, its unique features, and why it remains a popular choice for dog owners in the Florida region. We aim to offer you all the necessary information to ensure a positive and enjoyable visit for both you and your cherished canine.
Diogi Dog Park is conveniently located at 500 W Carter Rd, Mulberry, FL 33860, USA. This address places it within the larger Loyce E. Harpe Park, a multi-use recreational complex in Polk County. This integration means that the dog park benefits from the overall infrastructure of a well-established county park, including ample parking and often well-maintained access roads. West Carter Road provides direct access to Loyce E. Harpe Park, making it relatively easy to find for residents in Mulberry, Lakeland, and other surrounding communities.
The location within a larger park complex is a significant advantage, as it often means visitors can combine a trip to the dog park with other activities offered at Loyce E. Harpe Park, such as walking trails or enjoying other recreational facilities (though dogs must be leashed outside the designated dog park area). The availability of abundant parking close to the dog park entrance minimizes the hassle of arrival, allowing you and your excited pup to quickly transition from car to off-leash play. For most Floridians, particularly in the Polk County area, driving is the primary mode of transport to recreational facilities, and Diogi Dog Park's accessible location ensures a smooth journey for a fun-filled outing.
- Dedicated Off-Leash Play Areas: Diogi Dog Park’s core service is providing securely fenced zones where dogs can run freely, play, and engage in off-leash activities, which is vital for their physical and mental health.
- Separated Sections for Large and Small Dogs: The park is thoughtfully designed with two distinct, separated areas: one for large dogs and another for smaller dogs. This separation is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of all canines, allowing them to play with peers of appropriate size and energy level.
- Double-Gated Entry: To enhance security and prevent accidental escapes, both the large and small dog sections are equipped with double-gated entry systems. This provides an important safety buffer when entering or exiting the off-leash areas.
- Doggie Waste Bag Dispensers: The park provides doggy duty bags to encourage cleanliness and responsible pet ownership. This amenity helps visitors keep the park clean by making it convenient to pick up after their pets.
- Water Fountains (for dogs and humans): Staying hydrated is paramount in Florida's warm climate. Diogi Dog Park offers water fountains for both dogs and humans, ensuring that everyone can quench their thirst during playtime. Some fountains may even include a bowl for ease of use for dogs.
- Agility Equipment: For an added element of fun and exercise, the park is noted to feature some agility equipment. This allows dogs to engage in more structured play, hone their coordination, and receive additional mental stimulation.
- Spacious Fenced Areas: Users consistently praise the generous amount of space available for dogs to run and play. The large, securely fenced areas provide ample room for high-energy activities and comfortable socialization.
- Ample Shade: The park benefits from natural shade provided by trees, offering crucial relief from the Florida sun for both dogs and their owners. This makes visits more comfortable, especially during peak heat hours. Some sources also mention "canopy seating," suggesting additional shade structures.
- Picnic Tables and Seating: Throughout the park, you can find picnic tables and other seating options, allowing owners to relax comfortably while supervising their dogs. This encourages longer, more leisurely visits.
- Well-Maintained Grounds: Many visitors describe Diogi Dog Park as a "very nice park" and "lovely park" that is "well-maintained," indicating that efforts are made to keep the grounds clean and pleasant for users. However, it's important for users to contribute to this by cleaning up after their pets.
- Fire Hydrant Structures: Adding a playful touch, the park includes colorful fire hydrant structures within the play areas, which dogs often enjoy investigating.
- Part of Loyce E. Harpe Park: Its location within a larger park complex means visitors have access to a broader range of recreational opportunities, making it a versatile destination for families.
As a public facility managed by Polk County Parks & Recreation, Diogi Dog Park operates as a free-to-use amenity for all residents and visitors. Therefore, traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial sense are not typically provided. The inherent value and ongoing "promotion" lie in the consistent provision of a well-equipped, safe, and clean environment for dogs to exercise and socialize without any entrance fee.
However, it is crucial for local users to stay informed about any operational updates or temporary situations that might affect their visit. This includes scheduled maintenance closures, which are essential for the long-term upkeep of the park, or temporary issues like a lack of waste bags or overflowing bins, as mentioned in some customer reviews. While these are often temporary, checking the Polk County Parks & Recreation official website or their social media channels for current advisories is always recommended before heading to the park. These updates ensure that you have the most accurate information regarding park hours, specific closures, or any special instructions for visitors. The commitment to providing a free, well-maintained dog park is the continuous benefit offered to the community.
For direct inquiries regarding Diogi Dog Park, or for information concerning park hours, maintenance, or any issues encountered, the primary point of contact is the Polk County Parks & Recreation Department, as the park is part of Loyce E. Harpe Park.

For dog owners in Mulberry and the broader Polk County area of Florida, Diogi Dog Park stands as an invaluable community resource, perfectly suited to the active and outdoor-oriented lifestyle of the Sunshine State. The park's fundamental design, featuring expansive, securely fenced areas with separate zones for large and small dogs, directly addresses the diverse needs of canine companions, ensuring safe and appropriate play for every size and energy level. The provision of essential amenities like water fountains, waste bag dispensers, and comfortable seating for owners further enhances the visitor experience, making it a practical and enjoyable destination for regular outings.
While some past user feedback points to occasional challenges, such as the need for owners to adhere to the designated large/small dog areas, these are common issues in public dog parks that emphasize the importance of community cooperation. The overwhelming sentiment from visitors, however, is one of appreciation for a "very nice" and "wonderful place" where "fur babies had a blast." Its integration within the larger Loyce E. Harpe Park also adds to its appeal, offering a serene environment and the potential for extended family outings. Diogi Dog Park serves as a crucial hub for canine socialization and exercise, fostering a sense of community among local pet owners. It truly exemplifies Polk County's commitment to providing excellent recreational facilities for its residents and their beloved four-legged family members, making it an indispensable part of the local pet-friendly landscape.

Apr 12, 2025 · Tiss-Ann GrantOur boys had their 1st time here ever at a dog park. They enjoyed it, as much as we did. Wonderful place for dogs to run and play in a safe fenced in area, 2 parts, one for big dogs, and one for little dogs that are separated. Has doggy duty bags to keep park clean and water fountains. Lovely park. 2nd visit in July no one else here. Our fur babies had a blast. Had time to take a drive thru the whole park. Awesome is all I can say.
Jul 21, 2017 · Chris HughesNice dog park. Has a small dog section too. We were there on a weekday and we had the big dog section to ourselves! They have a wash station and a doggy water fountain (a bowl that fills up with water).
Mar 11, 2020 · netposer google***OPEN Now- regular hours THANKS FOR THE HURRICANE HELP! Update: dog park has been closed with no Real Reason; chain on gate. Our dogs are SAD because they miss their park buds and are acting out by shredding any cardboard they can find. This is the safest park for our 4 small dogs and they love it. So disappointing that we have zero information on what’s happening? ***Found out from a worker that this is a debris drop off site. Park will be CLOSED for a while…INDEFINITELY. @at this time “ This is the largest 411 on Diogo Dog Park
