This is a good size dog park split into a much larger area for big dogs vs small dogs. We like how big and reliably grassy it is- so plenty of room for my high energy pup to run and roll on! None of the wood chip or rock nonsense that isn’t fun to run and play on! But watch out for poopies because there are lots that don’t get picked up by owners. Doggies tend to be older and more senior in age at this park or come in pairs so my active 14 month old Goldendoodle doesn’t always have high energy friends who aren’t territorial to play with. The park clears out by 9-10 am here so come early if you want friends to play with! Shade and seating is limited.

For dog owners in Lewisville, Texas, and across the dynamic communities of North Texas, discovering a reliable and spacious environment for their canine companions to exercise, socialize, and simply be dogs is a key part of responsible pet ownership. Briarhill Dog Park, located in the heart of Lewisville, consistently stands out as a favored destination for local pups and their human counterparts. It's a place where the joy of off-leash freedom truly comes alive, offering ample room for dogs to run, play, and interact.
From the moment you step into Briarhill Dog Park, you'll notice its commitment to providing a significant, mostly grassy area for dogs. This is a crucial feature, as many dog owners prefer natural turf over surfaces like wood chips or gravel, which can be less comfortable for running and rolling. The expansive green space means even high-energy pups have plenty of room to stretch their legs, chase a ball, or engage in spirited play with their new friends. The park's design thoughtfully caters to different sizes of dogs, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for all.
Local visitors often praise Briarhill Dog Park for its welcoming atmosphere and the generally well-behaved nature of the dogs that frequent it. It serves as a community gathering spot where responsible pet owners can connect, share experiences, and watch their furry family members thrive. While the park is clearly a hit for its vast open areas, it’s also known for specific amenities that enhance the overall convenience and comfort of a visit, addressing common needs of dog owners.
Briarhill Dog Park is more than just a fenced-in field; it represents Lewisville's dedication to providing quality outdoor spaces for its residents and their pets. For Texans seeking a substantial, grassy dog park with dedicated areas and essential conveniences, Briarhill Dog Park remains a highly recommended choice.

This address places it strategically within Lewisville, ensuring easy access for residents across the city and surrounding North Texas communities such as Flower Mound, Highland Village, and Coppell. Its position along Briarhill Boulevard makes it straightforward to reach from various local routes, simplifying the journey for dog owners eager to get their pets out for some exercise.
The park's integration within the Lewisville park system means it generally benefits from established infrastructure. While specific parking details aren't always explicitly highlighted in every description, public dog parks in Lewisville typically offer adequate parking to accommodate visitors. This ease of access contributes significantly to its popularity, making spontaneous trips or planned visits convenient for many busy Texans.
Briarhill Dog Park generally operates with extensive hours, often from dawn until dusk or later, aligning with most public city parks. However, it is crucial for visitors to be aware of any specific maintenance schedules or temporary closures. As a public park, it is subject to the Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department's operational guidelines, which may include occasional closures for upkeep or due to inclement weather conditions. For example, some Lewisville parks might have specific days closed for mowing or maintenance, so checking with the city's official resources is always recommended for the most current status.
While the reviews indicate that the park tends to clear out by 9-10 AM, suggesting an early morning rush for those seeking more social interaction, its long operating hours still provide ample flexibility for visitors throughout the day. Its central Lewisville location and typical accessibility features make it a dependable option for local dog owners.
- Spacious off-leash areas: Briarhill Dog Park is notably large, providing a significant amount of fenced space for dogs to run freely without a leash.
- Separate large and small dog sections: The park features distinct, securely fenced areas. There is a much larger section dedicated to big dogs and a separate, smaller area specifically for small dogs, ensuring safer play environments for all sizes.
- Predominantly grassy surface: Unlike parks with wood chips or rocks, Briarhill Dog Park is known for its reliably grassy terrain, which is preferred by many dogs for running, rolling, and playing.
- Dog wash station: A convenient wash station is available, allowing owners to clean off their muddy or sandy pups after playtime before heading home.
- Drinking and watering fountains: Water fountains are provided for both dogs and humans, ensuring hydration during and after active play.
- Waste disposal stations: Dog waste disposal stations are located throughout the park, complete with bags, to encourage and facilitate responsible pet waste cleanup by owners.

- Generous size (5 acres for large dogs, 1 acre for small dogs): The substantial acreage, particularly for the large dog area, is a major highlight, offering extensive room for high-energy dogs to run and play without feeling crowded.
- Reliably grassy surface: The park's natural grass is a significant advantage, providing a softer, more enjoyable surface for canine activities compared to artificial or harder ground covers.
- Clear separation of play areas: The distinct large vs. small dog sections are highly valued by visitors, promoting safer and more appropriate interactions among dogs of different sizes.
- Convenient dog wash station: This practical amenity is a big plus for owners, allowing them to rinse off their dogs, especially after muddy play, keeping cars and homes cleaner.

- Essential hydration facilities: The presence of drinking and watering fountains ensures that both dogs and their owners can stay hydrated during their visit.

As a public dog park managed by the City of Lewisville, Briarhill Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions, discounts, or special offers in the traditional business sense. Its primary "promotion" is the consistent provision of a well-maintained, free-to-use off-leash dog park for the local community. The inherent value for Texans comes from having access to a spacious and amenity-rich recreational space without any cost of entry.
Any "special offers" or unique events related to Briarhill Dog Park would generally be organized by the City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department or local animal welfare organizations in collaboration with the city. These might include:
- Community Pet Events: Occasionally, the city or local groups might host dog-friendly events such as pet adoption drives, canine training workshops, or even themed playdates at the park. These would be announced through official City of Lewisville channels, local community calendars, or social media.
- Park Improvement Announcements: Information about any future upgrades, new features, or significant maintenance initiatives for the park could be considered a form of "promotion" for the park's ongoing quality and commitment to the community.
It is important for visitors to be aware of the park's specific operating hours and any scheduled maintenance closures, as these ensure the park's optimal condition. While some parks have set maintenance days, the Lewisville Parks and Recreation website or their designated rainout number (972) 219-5077 for the dog park can provide the most current status updates. This proactive communication serves as a key "service" to the public, preventing wasted trips.
For the most current information regarding any community events or operational updates, dog owners in Texas are encouraged to consult the official City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation website or contact them directly.

Its design and features directly cater to the diverse needs of canine companions and their human families, making it a consistently popular choice for outdoor recreation.
A primary reason for its suitability is its impressive size and predominantly grassy terrain. The expansive 5-acre area for large dogs provides ample room for energetic pups to run freely, burn off steam, and engage in vigorous play. This spaciousness is highly preferred by many owners over smaller, less natural surfaces. The clear separation of a dedicated 1-acre area for small dogs further enhances safety and comfort, allowing smaller breeds to play without feeling overwhelmed by larger counterparts.
The presence of practical amenities significantly boosts the park's appeal. The on-site dog wash station is an invaluable feature, especially after muddy romps, ensuring that dogs can be rinsed off before getting back into cars and homes. Accessible water fountains for both dogs and humans address hydration needs, a critical consideration in the Texas climate. Furthermore, the waste disposal stations encourage responsible pet ownership, contributing to the park's overall cleanliness, which is often noted positively by visitors.
While some reviews mention limited shade and occasional un-scooped waste, the overall consensus points to a friendly community of dogs and owners. For those seeking a vibrant social environment for their high-energy pups, the early morning hours are particularly suitable, offering a bustling atmosphere. Briarhill Dog Park's commitment to providing a large, natural play space with essential conveniences makes it a reliable and cherished resource for Lewisville locals, embodying a core aspect of pet-friendly living in North Texas.

Aug 10, 2022 · Chalani EllepolaMy experience here has been great. The dogs are 95% well behaved and friendly. The people are watchful and pleasant to talk to. The big and small dog parks are separate and always clean.
Apr 08, 2024 · Alton TannerFirst time here, local park closed. Tucked away in the park . Separate space for large and small. Water, clean up bags, porta-potty for humans
Jun 19, 2019 · Daniel and MirkaWe like this dog park because it’s so scenic, just wish there were more benches to sit on, and shaded areas. I wish that the sidewalk bordered the whole perimeter. Gets pretty hot during the summer after about 10am. Water fountains and poop bags available!
Jun 21, 2022 · Tiffany LewisNice clean dog park, smaller than what I'm used to for the small dogs, but a huge beautiful hill in the large dog park. Love the setting near a small lake and a children's park is near as well. Will definitely recommend for other dog parents
