Technically limited to Beverley residents, there was no issue coming into the park and the other park goers were friendly. Woodland ground cover, so it WILL get muddy. This is a LARGE space, and only one water source (a hose, midway across the space) 10-foot fences do give it a kinda facility feel... This is located next to a tree company and the Beverly airport, so there are alot of noises.

Welcome to Beverly Dog Park

Hello, Massachusetts dog lovers! As local pet parents, we know how important it is to find the perfect outdoor space where our furry companions can run free, play, and socialize safely. For those in Beverly and the wider North Shore region, the Beverly Dog Park at 46 L P Henderson Road stands out as a beloved and substantial destination. This isn't just a patch of grass; it's a sprawling, wooded enclosure specifically designed to give dogs ample room to explore and interact, making it a fantastic resource for our active Massachusetts pups.

Beverly Dog Park provides an essential off-leash environment that is crucial for a dog's physical health, mental stimulation, and socialization. In a state like Massachusetts, where green spaces can vary in size and accessibility, a large, dedicated dog park like this is truly invaluable. While some initial considerations like ground cover and proximity to certain noises are part of its urban context, the benefits of its generous size, shade, and friendly community often outweigh these. It's a testament to the local commitment to providing a robust recreational outlet for our canine family members, where dogs can truly be dogs, and owners can connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Location and Accessibility

Beverly Dog Park is located at 46 L P Henderson Rd, Beverly, MA 01915, USA. This address places it conveniently off Cabot Street (Route 97), near the Beverly Municipal Airport. While its proximity to a "tree company and the Beverly airport" means there can be "a lot of noises," its location also provides a somewhat secluded yet accessible space for off-leash activity.

Accessibility to the park is generally straightforward. Visitors can follow L P Henderson Road towards the airport, and the dog park will be on the left just before entering the airport grounds. Ample parking is typically available, making it easy for dog owners to bring their furry friends. A crucial aspect of this park's accessibility, as highlighted by official rules, is its status as a residents-only facility, at least "technically." Beverly dog owners "must have a dog park tag to use the dog park" and be registered with a current Beverly dog license, rabies vaccination, and be spayed or neutered. While one review mentioned "no issue coming into the park and the other park goers were friendly" even if not a Beverly resident, official guidelines do state this residency requirement and the need for a tag. It's always best to verify the current regulations directly with the City of Beverly Parks and Recreation Department to ensure a smooth visit. The park is open from "dawn until dusk."

Services Offered

  • Large Off-Leash Play Area: Provides a significantly sized, fully fenced enclosure where dogs can run freely, play, and socialize without leashes, offering ample room for exercise.

  • Separated Areas for Large and Small Dogs: The park features "one side for large dogs & another for small dogs," although a review notes "usually everyone goes to the big side." This separation is intended to provide safer play environments tailored to different dog sizes.

  • Water Source and Dishes: There is a "water source (a hose, midway across the space)" available, along with "water dishes available & jugs spread out that you fill at the hose," ensuring dogs stay hydrated.

  • Poop Stations: "Poop station" are available, providing waste bags (though users are always encouraged to bring their own as backup) and disposal bins to maintain cleanliness.

  • Shaded Areas: Being "wooded, lots of tree roots to navigate," the park offers "lots of shaded areas," providing relief from the sun on warmer days.

  • Community of Owners: The park fosters a friendly atmosphere where "other park goers were friendly," encouraging interaction and connection among dog owners.

Features / Highlights

  • Expansive Size: A major highlight is its "LARGE space," offering a vast area for dogs to explore and run, differentiating it from smaller urban parks.

  • Natural, Wooded Ground Cover: The "woodland ground cover" provides a more natural, varied terrain. While it "WILL get muddy," especially after rain, it also offers sensory enrichment for dogs.

  • High Fences: The "10-foot fences do give it a kinda facility feel," but critically ensure a high level of security for off-leash dogs, providing peace of mind for owners.

  • Ample Shade: The wooded nature of the park means "lots of shaded areas," a significant benefit during warmer weather for both dogs and owners.

  • Dedicated Water Access: The presence of a hose and various water dishes/jugs ensures dogs have access to water, even if it's not a traditional fountain.

  • Friendly Community: Consistent feedback highlights the "friendly people and dogs," making it a pleasant environment for socialization.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a municipal dog park, Beverly Dog Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. Its primary "offer" to the Massachusetts community, specifically to Beverly residents, is the provision of a free, extensive, and well-maintained off-leash area for dogs.

The most significant "special offer" related to this park is the "free dog park tag" available to eligible Beverly residents. This tag grants access to this valuable amenity. To obtain a tag, dogs must have a current Beverly dog license, current rabies vaccination, be spayed or neutered, be at least six months old, and be healthy and parasite-free. Applications for these tags are available by emailing beverlydogpark@gmail.com, and replacement tags cost $5. This system ensures that the park primarily serves its local, responsible dog-owning community. While there aren't traditional "sales," the provision of this well-managed space at no daily cost is a substantial benefit. For information on any community events or fundraising efforts (as the park relies on community support), residents can check the Beverly Dog Park website or local community boards.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Massachusetts residents, particularly those in Beverly and the North Shore area, Beverly Dog Park stands out as an exceptionally suitable and highly valued local amenity. Its design, extensive size, and commitment to the community make it an ideal choice for canine recreation and owner interaction.

Firstly, the park's "LARGE space" is a significant advantage. In a state where open land can be precious, offering such an expansive, fully fenced area allows dogs ample room to run, play, and engage in vigorous exercise. This is crucial for their physical health and mental well-being, especially for high-energy breeds or those needing plenty of room to stretch. The presence of "10-foot fences" further enhances safety, providing peace of mind for owners.

Secondly, the natural "woodland ground cover" and "lots of shaded areas" provide a unique and beneficial environment. While it means the park "WILL get muddy" after rain, it also offers a more natural, stimulating terrain for dogs compared to sterile urban surfaces. The shade is a vital amenity during warmer Massachusetts summers, allowing for more comfortable and extended visits for both dogs and their owners.

Furthermore, the park's amenities, including a water source (even if a hose-fed system) and "poop station," demonstrate a commitment to providing essential services. The presence of separate large and small dog areas, even if often combined in practice, highlights a thoughtful design intended to cater to different needs. Most importantly, the consistent feedback about "friendly people and dogs" underscores the positive community atmosphere, fostering connections among local dog owners and creating a welcoming social environment.

While the requirement for a Beverly Dog Park tag and the proximity to airport noise are specific considerations, these are manageable aspects for dedicated local users. The tag system ensures the park primarily serves its residents, fostering a strong sense of community ownership and responsibility. In conclusion, Beverly Dog Park is an indispensable resource for the local dog-loving community. It provides a spacious, well-equipped, and community-driven environment that significantly enhances the quality of life for dogs and their human companions in Beverly, Massachusetts.

This is an ok dog park. It's fairly large & locals have brought in a hose & a kiddie pool. There are water dishes available & jugs spread out that you fill at the hose. There's also poop station. Its wooded, lots of tree roots to navigate, but the upside is lots of shaded areas. There's one side for large dogs & another for small dogs, although usually everyone goes to the big side

Edited… It was great, but they’ve cut down a lot of what was a magical little dog forest and it’s now only for Beverly dogs. Sucks for everyone, especially the pups. By far the best dog park in the area! Most parks are just an open fenced in square, no shade or natural feel, but this spot is like a little mini forest for pups to explore! Water fountains too.. Weird-ish location to find at first, but if you made it to the airport, it's right behind you!

the park is nice, but everytime ive been there’s literally no other dogs. do people just not know about this place?

Large dog park with plenty of room to run and a unique (for a dog park!) wooded feel with variegated ground - not just a packed flat dirt square. Lots of trees provide shade, too. There are a couple of water stations for the dogs and waste bags available. A smaller fenced area next to the main one is set aside for small breeds only. Between the airport and the tree removal service neighbors there's the occasional loud noise but overall a really nice facility that seems well maintained.
