## Features / Highlights
Barkingfield Park boasts several distinctive features that make it a standout destination for dog owners across Pennsylvania:
- Two Nice Size Fenced-In Pens: The park's pride lies in its two well-maintained, generously sized fenced-in areas. These are ideal for allowing dogs to run freely and interact off-leash in a secure environment. Users frequently praise these spacious pens, noting they can easily accommodate a group of around 10 dogs at a time, providing ample room for energetic play.
- Extensive Walking Trail Network: Beyond the dog parks, Barkingfield Park offers an impressive network of walking trails. These natural, unpaved paths traverse vast open fields and lead down to a picturesque small creek. It's a perfect setting for a tranquil walk or a more vigorous hike, allowing both dogs (on-leash outside the fenced areas) and their owners to immerse themselves in nature.
- Community Atmosphere: The park is known for fostering a friendly and welcoming environment, particularly around the late afternoon (4 o'clock hour). This is often when a good variety of dogs, ranging from small to extra-large, and their "great dog parents" gather, creating a vibrant social scene for both pets and people.
- Picnic Pavilion and Little Library: The presence of picnic tables under a pavilion provides a comfortable spot for owners to relax and socialize. The charming little library adds a unique touch, promoting a sense of community and offering a quiet diversion.
- Natural Landscape and Wildlife: Covering 45 acres, Barkingfield Park is more than just mowed grass. It incorporates wildflower meadows, bioswales, pollinator gardens, and riparian buffer plantings, showcasing sustainable land management. This contributes to a diverse and beautiful natural environment that can be enjoyed by all visitors.
- Relatively New and Well-Maintained: As a relatively new park, Barkingfield benefits from modern design principles and appears to be well-maintained, offering a clean and enjoyable experience for its users.

## Promotions or Special Offers
While Barkingfield Park primarily operates as a public recreational facility and does not typically offer traditional commercial promotions or special offers like discounts on entry (as there is no entry fee), its value comes in its accessibility and the quality of its free amenities. The "special offer" here is the consistent availability of a high-quality, well-maintained, and spacious environment for dogs and their owners at no cost.
However, it's always a good idea for visitors to check the Kennett Township website or local community boards for any potential community events or organized dog-related activities that might take place at the park. These could include adoption events, dog training demonstrations, or seasonal gatherings, which, while not "promotions" in the commercial sense, offer valuable experiences and opportunities for local dog owners.

Great dog park that is relatively new!! There are picnic tables under a pavilion, a port-a-jon, a little library, hiking trails, and a dog park for both small and large dogs.
Feb 28, 2025 · John PowellI take my great dane regularly! Well worth the 30 minute drive. Two nice size fenced in pens for about 10 dogs able to run about supplied with plenty of dog toys, another pen few feet separate as well. Amazing walking trail with open huge fields leading to a small creek! Not paved. Great dog parents especially around the 4olclock hour. Range from small to extra large dogs good verity, typically medium size dogs.
Mar 22, 2021 · Harajuku SunshineThe entrance is good, but they need to fix the closure of the fence. It's been broken for a very long time. Park provides baggies & trash bin for the poop. What is sad & makes me mad is that owners don't pick up after their dogs. It's EVERYWHERE!! The park also provides balls & toys in a basket. However, owners take them home & never bring them back. Most times, the basket is empty. It has large patches with no grass, too. For us, it's the fact that owners don't pick up their dogs poop!!! When you walk in there, you have to walk with head down to make sure you don't step in it. So disappointing. Owners are disrespectful & don't care. We won't be returning.
Apr 21, 2025 · Catia McConnellProbably the best dogpark I've been too. I don't necessarily go for the dogs, the paths around the dog pen is hands down amazing. Just beware of ticks. Otherwise a absolute charming stroll at this park is with the 30 min drive I make from Coatesville.
Jul 11, 2023 · Farah “Farah Salem” KrzywickiBeautiful place to walk yourself or with your pups! Mowed walks around a couple of field perimeters and a dog park with attentive dog owners. While there are two separate sections for big and small dogs, the small dog area is temporarily closed for reseeding the grass. Be advised it gets hot here because there are no trees in the dog park area (or for much of the walking area around the field. So bring lots of water!
