My dog and i love this dog park. It is very well maintained and the vibe with the dogs (and owners) is fun and inclusive. My pup is shy but always finds a friend or two to play with. He loves to sniff and chase and it's a great way to get him to socialize in a safe and welcoming setting.

This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of Alice's Dog Park, helping you understand why it continues to be a top choice for local dog owners and what to expect on your next visit.

Location and Accessibility

Alice's Dog Park is conveniently located at **3026 E Orange Grove Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107, USA**. This prime address places it within easy reach for residents of Pasadena and neighboring communities in the San Gabriel Valley. Its location on a major boulevard like Orange Grove makes it straightforward to find and access, whether you're coming from nearby neighborhoods or a bit further afield.

Accessibility to the park is generally excellent. As a well-established municipal dog park, it is fully fenced, providing a crucial layer of security that allows dogs to play off-leash with peace of mind for their owners. While specific parking details aren't explicitly provided, public dog parks of this stature in Pasadena typically offer ample street parking or dedicated parking lots nearby. Visitors should find parking convenient, though it's always wise to arrive a bit early during peak hours.

The park features separate areas for different dog sizes, indicating thoughtful design for diverse canine needs. The ground surface, while noted to have transitioned from predominantly grass to about "90% dirt," still provides a suitable environment for running and playing. While the change might mean more dust, it also ensures better drainage and a more resilient surface for heavy dog traffic. It's important for visitors to be aware of the dirt surface, suggesting comfortable, closed-toed shoes are a good idea. The presence of water stations and bags/scoopers provided throughout the perimeter further enhances accessibility and convenience for all users.

Alice's Dog Park provides a comprehensive suite of services and amenities designed to create a safe, enjoyable, and clean environment for off-leash canine recreation and socialization.

  • **Spacious Off-Leash Play Areas:** The park offers generously sized, securely fenced areas where dogs can run freely without leashes. The "large dog side" is particularly noted for its spaciousness, allowing ample room for energetic play, chasing, and exploration. While not explicitly stated, the presence of a "large dog side" usually implies a separate area for smaller dogs as well.
  • **Water Stations:** The park is equipped with at least "2 water stations," providing essential hydration for dogs during and after play. This convenience is highly valued by owners, especially during warmer California days.
  • **Waste Bags and Scoopers Provided:** Alice's Dog Park ensures that "bags and scoopers provided throughout the perimeter." This critical service promotes responsible pet ownership, making it easy for visitors to clean up after their dogs and helping to maintain a hygienic and pleasant environment for all.

  • **Designated Maintenance Schedule (Historically):** Historically, the park was "kept on Tuesdays when it's closed." While current maintenance practices might have shifted (leading to more dirt), the intention to provide regular upkeep is evident, suggesting a commitment to maintaining the facility.

While these core services are well-provided, visitors should be mindful of the current dirt-heavy surface and potential needs for more shade, especially during summer months, as noted by some reviews.

Features / Highlights

Alice's Dog Park stands out in the Pasadena area due to several key features and highlights that make it a consistently popular choice among local dog owners.

  • **Spacious Large Dog Side:** A significant highlight is the ample space available, particularly in the large dog area. This allows energetic dogs to truly run, chase, and burn off steam, which is crucial for their physical health and mental well-being.
  • **Inclusive and Friendly Atmosphere:** The park boasts a "fun and inclusive vibe with the dogs (and owners)." This positive social environment is paramount, making it comfortable even for shy dogs to find playmates and for owners to connect with fellow dog lovers.
  • **Essential Amenities Provided:** The presence of "2 water stations" and readily available "bags and scoopers throughout the perimeter" are highly practical features. They ensure that basic needs for hydration and waste management are met, contributing significantly to a cleaner and more user-friendly park.

  • **Opportunity for Varied Play:** Dogs have space to "sniff and chase," allowing for different types of play and exploration, catering to a wider range of canine preferences beyond just running.

A notable concern highlighted by a review is the loss of one of the umbrellas due to post-fire winds, leading to less shade. This indicates a need for continued attention to shade provision, especially as California summers can be intensely hot.

Nice and spacious large dog side. It used to get kept on Tuesdays when it's closed. You can tell they don't anymore as it has turned to say 90% dirt. There are 2 water stations and bags and scoopers provided throughout the perimeter. Please watch you dog and pick up after then. The post fire winds tore up 1 of the umbrellas. Hope it gets fixed by summer as it gets really hot out here.

Pibble approved! My dog loves this park, and we go at least once a week. Large enough for a lot of dogs, shady areas, some benches, and 2 water areas. Everyone is pretty diligent about picking up “leavings” too!

The place has 2 enclosed/fenced areas for large dogs and medium/small dogs separately. All dogs are to be strictly off-leash. They have potty covers, bins and dedicated water fountains for the furry friends. There are balls and other things lying around to play with. Along with these 2 parks, there is dedicated 5-6 pickle ball courts (but possibly requires advance booking and requires own playing racquets and ball). There is a kids play area with a restroom area too. Outside this area, there is a clean lawn area if you want to spend some family time with a tarp, some snacks and you could walk your dog there too (but the dog must be leashed here). Adequate parking space, nice place to spend a Saturday/Sunday with your pet and loved ones.

My favourite dog park in the area. It’s larger than most, providing a mix of dirt and grass (seasonal). There are water fountains for refilling and a large parking area.
