Apr 12, 2025 · Carina JahnMy boyfriend and I take a trip to Tiny Aquatics every Sunday! It’s one of our favorite things to do and we never go home without something. They helped me get my tank up and running. Would highly recommend.
Mar 16, 2025 · Brooke SpencerI got everything for my tanks (including the tanks themselves) from here. Not a single plant has died in the five months since purchasing. The animals are well taken care of, including the betas, which is great to see. My cherry shrimp have been healthy and active since purchasing. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. This is the LFS I always recommend.
Dec 07, 2024 · Taylor OrchardFirst aquarium store I've found that actually cares about fresh water aquascaping and planted tanks. Every other aquarium store I've been too in my whole life puts all their effort into the saltwater stuff and makes the fresh water section almost feel like an afterthought which sucks for freshwater enthusiasts. But this place rocks for freshwater. And they know what they're talking about. Beautiful display tanks, helpful staff. Prices are very reasonable for the quality they uphold in this establishment. Only complaint is it seems like they need more staff during busy times. It can be really annoying trying to get someone to help you. But eh, still love the store.
Mar 18, 2024 · Kordel BoyerI left Tiny Aquatics a few hours ago and am still fuming at the way JON, apparently that’s the name of the very large male who identified as the manager, has behaved around me for the very last time. Today was either my third or fourth time to the store since I set up a natural aquarium for my grandsons using the Walstad Method. Each previous visit I am the only customer of color in the entire store. Today my two young (5&7) grandsons were with me in the store for water, plants and shrimp. Jon seems like he’s always staring at me or right in my proximity. This time he nearly skidded to a stop right where I and my grandsons were looking at plants and fish. Once he saw me he abruptly stopped then positioned himself to strategically look in my direction. I watched him so that I could be sure what I was seeing was true or just coincidental. I went over to him to ask about this but did not want to have the convo in front of the kids. I asked if he was the owner and he stated he was the manager. I basically shook my head and walked away. Jon is racially profiling your customers!! It is outrageous! After my purchase, I put my grandkids in the car and came back in to talk with Jon, but he was with other customers. I let one of the workers know what happened and how I felt. The young guys that have helped me are nice and knowledgeable, but Jon comes off as a big jerk and I will not be back. Each time I leave spending upwards of $70, like today. There are other aquatic businesses in the greater Austin area and a Petco every few miles. I, too, want to support small businesses, but will not be followed and watched like a hawk like I am stealing from the store. What am going to do?? Put a fish or plant in my pocket?? I hope that the owner(s) read this. I wonder how many other customers of color have received similar treatment and perhaps that’s why I appear to be the only one there during my visits. Jon is a giant jerk who gives off the persona that he knows it and doesn’t care. I will spend my money and show my grandsons who love their aquarium and enjoy coming to the store what good customer service looks like elsewhere. It’s too bad because I like the store and the variety of plants and fish that they have, but Jon’s abrasive personality is grating! Thank you!
