The Dirty Doodle Introduce

Welcome to The Dirty Doodle, a pet grooming establishment located at 236 Main St in Stoneham, MA 02180, USA. While categorized under "Pet Store Near Me" due to the services offered, The Dirty Doodle primarily focuses on providing grooming services for pets, particularly dogs. You can reach them at (781) 872-1676 or their mobile number +1 781-872-1676 to inquire about their grooming options and to schedule an appointment. At The Dirty Doodle, the aim is to provide services that keep your pets clean, comfortable, and looking their best.

The primary service offered at The Dirty Doodle is pet grooming. This encompasses a range of services designed to maintain the hygiene and appearance of your pets. Based on customer reviews, these services include dog washing and haircuts. The extent of services offered may also include nail trimming, ear cleaning, and potentially breed-specific grooming styles. It's advisable to contact The Dirty Doodle directly to get a comprehensive list of their grooming services for different types of pets and breeds.

One customer shared a highly positive first-time experience at The Dirty Doodle. They brought their newly adopted dog in for a grooming session, specifically a dog wash. The review highlights the helpfulness of a staff member named Sarah, who guided the customer through the process and put them at ease about leaving their dog. The positive outcome included a clean and good-smelling dog, along with a picture and text update on how well the dog did during the grooming. This suggests that The Dirty Doodle has staff members who are good with animals and provide reassuring communication to pet owners.

However, another customer reported a significantly negative experience regarding their dog's grooming. This review details a situation where specific instructions for a trim were allegedly disregarded, resulting in a full haircut that was deemed unsuitable for the dog's breed (a woolly husky). The customer also claimed that an employee who was not a professional groomer insisted on grooming the dog, leading to an uneven cut, remaining matting, and the dog being unexpectedly covered in oil with still-dirty feet. This negative feedback raises concerns about the consistency and quality of the grooming services, as well as the qualifications and transparency of some staff members.

The negative review also mentions the involvement of a certified groomer, Karyn, who apologized for the situation, and a subsequent phone call with the owner that reportedly further highlighted unprofessionalism and a lack of accountability. This paints a mixed picture of the establishment, where some staff members may be competent and apologetic, while others, including management according to the review, may not handle issues effectively. The reviewer ultimately could not recommend The Dirty Doodle, particularly for owners of long-haired breeds, suggesting they might be better suited for short-haired dogs.

Based on the limited information, the environment of The Dirty Doodle is likely equipped with the necessary tools and spaces for pet grooming, including washing stations, grooming tables, and potentially breed-specific equipment. The positive review suggests a clean and comfortable environment for the pets being groomed, as the dog in that instance seemed to have a pleasant experience. However, the negative review does not provide specific details about the cleanliness or organization of the facility.

Features of The Dirty Doodle appear to include the availability of different grooming services, potentially a self-service option (implied by "dog wash" being a specific service), and staff who interact with the pets during the grooming process. The positive review highlights communication with the owner through pictures and text updates, which is a valuable feature for pet owners who may be anxious about leaving their animals. However, the negative review points to a lack of clear communication and potentially misleading information from at least one staff member.

At this time, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Pet grooming businesses may offer various promotions such as discounts for first-time customers, package deals for multiple grooming sessions, seasonal specials, or loyalty programs for repeat clients. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at The Dirty Doodle, it is recommended to contact them directly via phone.

In conclusion, The Dirty Doodle in Stoneham, MA, offers pet grooming services, primarily for dogs. While one customer reported a positive first-time experience with a helpful staff member and a satisfactory outcome, another customer detailed a highly negative experience involving a miscommunication about the requested service, a poor-quality haircut, and concerns about staff professionalism and accountability. This contrasting feedback suggests that the quality of service at The Dirty Doodle may vary. Potential customers, especially those with specific grooming needs or long-haired breeds, should exercise caution and perhaps inquire in detail about the groomer's experience and the specific services they require before booking an appointment. It would also be prudent to discuss the desired outcome clearly and ensure the groomer understands the instructions. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on their services, environment, and any potential promotions, contacting The Dirty Doodle directly is recommended.

My experience at this establishment was highly disappointing even though I did receive a full refund, which was greatly appreciated and I felt was deserved. I entrusted my dog's grooming to an employee named Henry, whom I believe misled me regarding his capabilities. When giving specific instructions, Henry admitted he wasn't a professional groomer, but assured me he could handle the job even though I offered to pay a cancellation fee. He said he didn’t want his time wasted and was very persistent that my dog get groomed. He said he would prep my dog for the certified groomer who would be doing the trim at the end. Upon picking up my dog, I was shocked and upset to find that she had received a full haircut instead of the requested trim, which was completely unsuitable for her breed (a woolly husky). The cut penetrated her undercoat which allows her to regulate temperature in the summer. Henry, rather than taking responsibility, argued that I had requested a haircut which was “appropriate for a husky”, which is untrue. Fortunately, the groomer, Karyn, who understood the situation apologized sincerely. Upon closer inspection at home, I discovered that my dog still had matting, had a very uneven haircut, was unexpectedly covered in oil (which was not the case when I dropped her off), and her feet were still dirty,—issues Henry had claimed he would address but did not. Following my initial concerns, I had a phone call with the owner of the Dirty Doodle, which further highlighted their unprofessionalism and unwillingness to accept responsibility for the poor service. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this establishment, particularly for owners of long-haired dogs. It appears they may be better suited for grooming short-haired breeds. I had to get my dog groomed elsewhere same day.

I take both my Alaskan Malamute and Greater Swiss Mountain dogs to The Dirty Doodle and they do such a great job every time! Henry is super accommodating to dogs that are a bit anxious when they walk in and he gets there early for the dogs. They always come out looking and smelling great! Highly recommend for anyone looking for somewhere that will bathe or groom their pups.

Brought my frenchie in for a nail trim this morning, they told my husband one nail was trimmed too short but wasn’t bleeding, he took their word for it and left, arrived at home to find his shirt and shorts covered in blood, my car covered in blood, and blood soaking thru the dish towels I was trying to use to stop the bleeding and prevent it from covering my home. I brought her back and received a shrug and an offer to bandage it. They again said it wasn’t bleeding when she left but the trail of dried blood across their lobby floor says otherwise. I could hear my girl snarling and growling out back with them as they bandaged it (she’s a puppy, she’s never reacted like this in her life). I know accidents happened but felt this was handled BEYOND poorly and I won’t return.
