Really appreciated the selection and staff! The employee we worked with was great. I really appreciated how she encouraged us to go home and make sure we had proper parameters before bringing our Uromastyx home. She offered thoughtful advice and helped us put a hold on our baby until we confirmed our temps were correct. Then was very sweet and excited when my husband returned later to pick him up. Our little guy is happy, healthy, and confident!

Based on the available customer reviews, Pinellas County Reptiles distinguishes itself through its knowledgeable and helpful staff, as well as its selection of reptiles and potentially competitive pricing. One reviewer recounts a particularly positive experience while purchasing a Uromastyx. They highly appreciated the staff member they worked with, noting her encouragement to prioritize proper environmental parameters at home before taking the reptile. This demonstrates a commitment to responsible reptile ownership and the well-being of the animals, as the staff prioritized the long-term health of the Uromastyx over an immediate sale. The thoughtful advice provided and the willingness to place a hold on the animal until the customer confirmed their setup was correct further underscore this responsible approach. The reviewer also noted the staff's genuine enthusiasm when the purchase was finalized, suggesting a passion for reptiles and customer satisfaction. The positive outcome, with a "happy, healthy, and confident" Uromastyx, speaks volumes about the quality of care and advice provided by Pinellas County Reptiles.

Another customer shared an equally positive experience while acquiring a red-footed tortoise. They specifically praised the kindness and extensive help provided by one of the staff members. This included assistance in selecting all the necessary materials for proper tortoise care and comprehensive guidance on the specific needs of the species. The reviewer highlighted the overall helpfulness of the staff and also noted that the prices at Pinellas County Reptiles were "pretty good, definitely cheaper than most pet stores!" This suggests that in addition to knowledgeable service, the store may also offer competitive pricing on their reptiles and supplies, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious reptile keepers.

From these reviews, we can gather valuable insights into the environment, services, and features of Pinellas County Reptiles. The store likely maintains a diverse selection of reptiles, catering to different levels of experience and interests within the hobby. The mention of a Uromastyx and a red-footed tortoise indicates that they stock a variety of species, potentially including both commonly kept reptiles and those that might be less readily available in general pet stores.

The environment of Pinellas County Reptiles appears to be one where customers can expect to interact with knowledgeable staff who are passionate about reptiles. The emphasis on providing detailed care information and ensuring proper setups suggests a focus on educating customers and promoting responsible reptile keeping. This implies that the store environment might be conducive to learning and asking questions, making it a valuable resource for both novice and experienced reptile owners.

The services offered extend beyond just the sale of reptiles. The staff actively engage with customers, providing expert advice on species-specific care requirements, assisting in the selection of appropriate supplies (such as enclosures, heating, lighting, substrates, and food), and potentially offering guidance on setting up and maintaining a suitable habitat. The willingness to hold an animal pending confirmation of proper setup demonstrates a commitment to the animal's welfare that goes beyond a typical retail transaction.

A key feature of Pinellas County Reptiles is undoubtedly its staff. The reviews consistently highlight their knowledge, helpfulness, kindness, and passion for reptiles. This expertise can be invaluable for customers, especially those new to reptile keeping or those interested in keeping more specialized species. The staff's willingness to go the extra mile in providing advice and ensuring responsible ownership sets Pinellas County Reptiles apart as a specialty store that prioritizes education and animal welfare.

The mention of "selection" in one review also suggests that the store offers a variety of reptiles to choose from, potentially encompassing different species, morphs (in the case of commonly bred reptiles like ball pythons or leopard geckos, though not specifically mentioned), and age ranges. This variety allows customers to find a reptile that suits their preferences and experience level.

The competitive pricing noted by one reviewer is another significant feature that could attract local reptile enthusiasts. The cost of setting up and maintaining a reptile enclosure can be considerable, so a store offering "pretty good" and "cheaper than most pet stores" prices on both the animals and the necessary supplies can be a valuable resource for the community.

While the reviews provide strong positive feedback on staff and selection, they do not offer specific details about any ongoing promotions or special offers at Pinellas County Reptiles. It is possible that the store offers loyalty programs, discounts on package deals for new reptile setups, or seasonal promotions. Local users interested in learning about any such offers are encouraged to contact the store directly via phone or visit their location in Largo.

In conclusion, Pinellas County Reptiles in Largo, FL, appears to be a highly recommended local pet store for reptile enthusiasts. Its strengths lie in its knowledgeable and passionate staff who prioritize responsible reptile ownership, a diverse selection of reptiles, and potentially competitive pricing. The positive customer experiences highlight a store that goes beyond simply selling animals, focusing on education, support, and the long-term well-being of the reptiles they sell. The workers were all very kind, especially the lady that helped me. I went to get a red footed tortoise and she helped me get all the materials I needed, told me everything I’d need to know to take proper care of it, and she was just really helpful overall. Their prices are also pretty good, definitely cheaper than most pet stores!

I enjoy this store and the staff are helpful. The animal selection is also very good and most of the animals seem healthy. My only issue is that I got an “ornate uromastyx” from them recently, and it turns out that it is actually an ocellated uromastyx. While I still enjoy him, this is not a good look to be mislabeling animal species.

Bought some supplies here for my ball python, quickly noticed how well the animals were cared for! None were cramped and all of them seemed very healthy. They had a great variety of animals and products, my only wish is that the staff member that sold the stuff to me had been more friendly, because she was very hostile when I wanted to make my purchase. I’d been here before and this was a one time thing, so overall a great place!

During my visit, I inquired about an aquatic animal located near the register, and the employee was unable to identify the species or provide any information. Given the sensitive nature of aquatic life, this lack of basic product knowledge is concerning. The stated requirement for prior knowledge in the application process appears to be misaligned with the current staff's demonstrated experience with the diverse assortment of exotic animals. To ensure optimal animal welfare and informed customer interactions, it may be beneficial to review and potentially revise either the application criteria or provide enhanced training to address the knowledge gaps observed. As a Professionally Certified Aquarist with extensive experience in exotic animal husbandry, including over two decades with aquatic species, I believe enhanced staff training is crucial. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute my expertise to your team. #AnimalWelfare #AnimalRights #AnimalProtection #HumaneTreatment #CompassionForAnimals #AnimalAdvocacy
