This place was inhumane at best, down right despicable at worst. For a store that is built around pets, they treat animals HORRIBLY. As soon as you walk in, there are neglected betta fish being sold in tiny cups(uncleaned at that, half of them were a murky yellow color). Not only that, at least 3 of them were floating upside down DEAD!! I wouldn't doubt they get put on the shelves and if unpurchased get thrown out to the back. No passion for those poor betta fish whatsoever. Their leopard geckos looked half starved and miserable. If you are appalled by that, somehow it gets even worse. Their birds all have their wings clipped. Every last one. This is downright disgusting and the people running this store should not be allowed around small animals to begin with, much less being responsible for taking care of them. Please don't support this disgusting pet chain. Buy your supplies somewhere else.

Jul 06, 2024 · LanaCompletely shocked and disgusted with conditions of all the live fish tanks here. They were filthy, mold and disgusting water. Fish are mixed in with fish they shouldn’t be with causing the bigger fish to eat off their fins leaving them helpless and suffering. (Pictures included) Then to top it off the water temperatures are at 54. Not ok. Inhumane to say the least!
Mar 28, 2024 · Dj burkeI'm depressed with how the animal care quality of this store has slipped within the last year or so. The care of the fish on the fish wall appears to be getting better (aside from the commons, of course) but the small animals and birds? Good lord. Every time I come in, there are sick budgies, sitting at the bottom of the enclosure looking puffy. I've found piles of dead mice on multiple occasions- the living ones are often sick, with ruffled and missing fur, bite wounds, and a skinny, small appearance. Tonight was the final straw to me. I came in to get cat food and saw the state of the rats. Many are extremely sick. One albino rat had porphyrin all over his face, feet, ears, and balls- a sign that he is very unwell. He also had clear, snotty discharge all over his nose/mouth area. Another was barely clinging to life. I brought this to the attention of an employee working stocking, who informed me "they're really just feeders, darling". Absolutely not how any animal should be treated, regardless of if it is eventually going to be fed to a reptile- and who wants to feed their reptile a sick animal, anyways? I think it is insane that Petco as a corporation continues to remain one of the only pet stores who still sells live feeder mice/rats. It is inhumane and it's great that their competitors have phased the sale of them out. But if you're going to sell feeders, at least give them BASIC standards of care. I also think it's ridiculous that this store refuses to staff properly. Never have I been to a retail location where you stand at the register for 5+ minutes waiting for an employee to tend the register. Why not just schedule someone to work SPECIFICALLY on the register like every other modern retail store? You guys make enough by depriving your animals of veterinary care, I'm sure you can handle the extra labor costs. This store used to be a pretty nice location. I'm not sure if there has been new management recently or what. It is an absolute disgrace compared to what it used to be. Pathetic.

Mar 17, 2025 · Ramakrishna BeesuGrooming department is horrible. Came here 2 times and was denied both times after I was told to have paperwork from the vet that my dog can get groomed( which I had) and still was denied. The girl at the front desk was very unapologetic and rude. Very horrible then referred me to corporate as if she wasn’t trying to hear what I was saying. Horrible
