I came here because the place I usually get food for my reptiles was closed due to Hurricane Milton. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I love spiders, cats, dogs, reptiles, bunnies, basically any animals you could think of. So obviously, I went to see them. These poor babies are being straight up abused. First of all, the chameleon care was straight up awful. Anyone who doesn’t know anything about chameleons might not see the issue, but as someone who’s owned chameleons and has done plenty of research on them. What they are going through is horrible. These poor babies were put in the same enclosure (they are solitary animals, meaning they will get aggressive and kill each other). There was also no humidity, barely any place for them to climb, fake plants (these guys NEED real plants), and the light is so bad for their health. What makes it worse is Chameleons are one of, if not the most, fragile reptile there is. Even if these are only temporary and someone may take them in a better enclosure, these will cause long term side effects. Even a temporary cage can cause permanent issues and end up killing them. The Bearded Dragons were also put together when they are very solitary animals too. Their enclosure was also horrible too. Reptile carpet is a big no no. Not to mention, they looked starved. The Leopard Geckos were also put together, and are also solitary. Their cage is also horrible for them. I didn’t get a picture of the crested geckos, but their cage also wasn’t great. They also seemed underfed, like, very underfed. The snake cage wasn’t horrible, but not good either. The size though was really really bad. A 4-6 foot snake can not live like this and it will cause health issues/aggression. I didn’t get any pictures of the fish/turtles/spiders. But their care was also bad. Spiders had nearly no space, fish and turtles had nearly nothing in their cage. I didn’t see any cats, but I wasn’t satisfied in the amount of space they got. Ferrets, mice, guinea pigs, and ferrets needed more space too. I understand the point is to bring them to a better home, but these cages are bringing health issues and killing them. Do better Petco.

Petco Introduce

For pet owners residing in Fort Myers, Florida, the search for a reliable "Pet Store Near Me" often leads to well-known establishments like Petco, situated at 13741 S Tamiami Trl #2. This particular Petco location can be contacted at (239) 466-3737 or via their mobile number, +1 239-466-3737. As a prominent chain in the pet industry, Petco typically aims to provide a comprehensive range of products and services to cater to the diverse needs of pet owners and their animal companions.

When considering a pet store, especially one categorized as a "Pet Store Near Me," convenience and the variety of offerings are often key factors for local users. Petco generally stocks a wide selection of pet food, encompassing various brands and formulations designed for different species, including dogs, cats, small animals, birds, fish, and reptiles. This often includes specialized diets catering to specific health needs, life stages, and dietary preferences, as well as prescription foods that may require veterinary authorization. The goal is to provide a central location where pet owners in Fort Myers can find the appropriate nutrition for their animals.

Beyond food, a comprehensive pet store like Petco usually offers an extensive array of pet supplies. This includes essential items such as collars, leashes, harnesses, bedding, and toys for different types of pets. For owners of caged or contained animals, Petco typically stocks habitats like tanks, terrariums, and cages, along with necessary accessories such as lighting, heating elements, substrate, and enrichment items. Additionally, customers can generally find grooming tools, health and wellness products (including flea and tick prevention), training aids, and travel accessories.

One of the significant services that many Petco locations, including the one in Fort Myers, often provide is professional pet grooming. These in-store salons are typically staffed by trained groomers who offer services such as bathing, haircuts tailored to breed standards or specific requests, nail trimming, and teeth cleaning for dogs and cats. Grooming services are vital for maintaining a pet's hygiene and can contribute significantly to their overall health and well-being, offering a convenient solution for pet owners in the local area.

In addition to grooming, some Petco stores also integrate veterinary services or partner with local veterinarians to offer on-site or nearby medical care for pets. This can include routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatments for common pet health issues. For local users in Fort Myers, it would be beneficial to inquire directly with the Petco location to ascertain the availability and scope of any veterinary services they might offer or be affiliated with.

Furthermore, Petco often plays an active role in pet adoption within the community. Many stores host adoption events in collaboration with local animal shelters and rescue organizations, providing a platform for adoptable animals to find loving new homes. For Fort Myers residents considering adding a pet to their family, visiting the local Petco or checking their website for upcoming adoption events could be a valuable resource.

To provide a balanced and objective introduction to the Petco in Fort Myers, it is crucial to consider the feedback from actual customers. The provided reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the store's operations. One review expresses significant disappointment and raises serious concerns about the welfare of the animals housed there. The reviewer detailed observations of inadequate care for various species, including chameleons (housed together, lacking proper environmental conditions), bearded dragons and leopard geckos (also housed together), and snakes (in enclosures deemed too small). Concerns were also raised about the apparent underfeeding of crested geckos and the insufficient living spaces for fish, turtles, spiders, and small mammals like ferrets, mice, and guinea pigs. This feedback suggests potential systemic issues with the animal husbandry practices at this specific location, which could be a significant concern for ethically-minded pet owners.

Conversely, another customer provided a glowing review, specifically praising the excellent grooming services for their dog. They highlighted the exceptional care provided by Chris in the grooming department, noting his skill in deshedding and the overall positive experience their dog has at the store due to the attention from all employees. This positive feedback indicates that at least one aspect of Petco's services, namely grooming, is highly regarded by some local customers.

When evaluating a "Pet Store Near Me," local users in Fort Myers need to weigh these differing opinions. While Petco offers the convenience of a wide range of products and services, the serious allegations regarding animal welfare cannot be ignored. Potential customers, especially those considering purchasing live animals from this store, should be aware of the concerns raised and may wish to visit the location to assess the conditions for themselves. If the primary need is for pet supplies or grooming, the positive feedback on grooming might be reassuring, but vigilance regarding animal care standards remains important.

Like many large retail chains, Petco may periodically offer promotional deals, discounts, or loyalty programs to attract and retain customers. Local users in Fort Myers are advised to check the Petco website or inquire in-store about any current promotions on pet food, supplies, or grooming services. Participation in a loyalty program, if available, could also offer long-term benefits for regular purchases.

In conclusion, Petco at 13741 S Tamiami Trl #2 in Fort Myers, FL, presents itself as a local pet store providing a wide array of products and services, including pet food, supplies, grooming, and potentially veterinary care and adoption opportunities. While one customer review strongly praises the grooming services, another expresses significant concerns about the welfare of the animals housed in the store. For local users seeking a "Pet Store Near Me," it is recommended to consider both these perspectives and potentially visit the store to make an informed decision based on their individual needs and ethical considerations regarding animal care standards.

I came here and saw that they had some cool looking ferrets. I asked an employee if I could take a look at them because I was looking for another one. She told me I couldn't see them unless I was going to buy one of them. I'm not going to buy an animal that I don't even get to see the behavior of. I've been to plenty of other petcos and have asked a time or two to view their ferrets and I've never been met with this response.

Want to love this vet. Absolutely love Dr. Scott, unfortunately very very hard to get ahold of. I have been calling for a week and a half, left 3-4 voice mails, an email, and even called the costumer service line and left my name with them without an answer. So if you’re looking for a good vet, Dr Scott is it, if you’re looking for good communication, I’d look elsewhere

Chris at PETCO did an incredible job grooming my dog, Lily! From the moment we arrived, his professionalism and genuine love for animals were evident. He was so patient and kind with Lily, making her feel comfortable and cared for throughout the entire process. The grooming itself was flawless—Lily looked fantastic and smelled amazing! Chris went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and his attention to detail really stood out. I highly recommend Chris for anyone looking for a top-notch groomer. Thank you for taking such great care of Lily!
