Petco Introduce
For pet owners in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Petco located at 1753 St Lucie W Blvd is one of the options available within the "Pet Store Near Me" category. As a large national chain, Petco typically offers a wide variety of pet supplies, including food, toys, and accessories for various animals. They often also feature live animals such as fish, reptiles, and small animals like ferrets. However, recent customer reviews provide insights into the conditions of some of these animals and the level of customer service experienced at this particular location.
Regarding the environment for the animals, one customer who was looking at reptiles and ferrets reported concerning conditions. They described the bearded dragon enclosure as "horrible," noting a high number of dragons (8-10) housed together. More alarmingly, this reviewer observed multiple bearded dragons with visibly amputated tails, some appearing recently injured with fresh blood. Additionally, they noted a bearded dragon against the glass with what appeared to be freshly broken toes, also indicated by the presence of blood. This observation raises significant concerns about the adequacy of the enclosure size, potential overcrowding, and the overall care and supervision of the reptiles at this store.
The same reviewer also expressed concerns about the ferret enclosures, stating that there was "so much poop right next to where they sleep." This suggests potentially unsanitary living conditions for the ferrets, which could impact their health and well-being. These observations paint a concerning picture of the environment in which some of the live animals are housed at this Petco location.
In terms of services, Petco generally aims to provide assistance to customers looking to purchase animals or supplies. However, one customer recounted a negative experience when seeking help in the fish, snails, and shrimp section. They stated that "there’s absolutely nobody to be found" when they needed assistance. This lack of available staff can be frustrating for customers, especially those who require guidance or have questions before making a purchase. The inability to find assistance ultimately led to this customer leaving the store without making a planned purchase of several hundred dollars for a new tank, indicating a potential loss of sale due to insufficient staffing on the floor.
The care of the live animals, particularly the fish, was another significant issue raised in the customer reviews. The same customer who sought help in the fish section also reported disturbing observations regarding the Betta fish. They noted "several male bettas that were very obviously dead" and one female Betta with clear signs of dropsy, a serious and often fatal condition in fish. The reviewer expressed disgust at finding these dead and visibly sick fish left out for customers to see, highlighting a potential lack of timely removal of deceased animals and inadequate monitoring of the health of the fish. This is a serious concern for the welfare of the animals and the overall shopping experience for customers.
Based on the provided customer reviews, key features of this Petco location, unfortunately, include potential issues with animal welfare and customer service. The reported conditions of the reptile and ferret enclosures, as well as the presence of dead and visibly sick fish, raise serious concerns about the store's standards of animal care. The lack of available staff to assist customers on the floor is another significant drawback highlighted in the reviews, potentially leading to a negative shopping experience and lost sales.
The provided information does not contain any details about specific promotional offers currently available at this Petco location. Petco, as a national retailer, often has various promotions and sales on different products throughout the year. These might include discounts on specific brands of pet food, special offers on toys and accessories, or promotions related to adoption events or seasonal items. Customers interested in learning about any current promotions at the Petco on St Lucie W Blvd are advised to contact the store directly at (772) 873-2575 or +1 772-873-2575 or check the official Petco website or app for the most up-to-date information.
In conclusion, while Petco at 1753 St Lucie W Blvd in Port St. Lucie is part of a large chain that typically offers a wide range of pet supplies, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns regarding the welfare of some of the live animals, particularly the reptiles and fish, and the availability of staff to assist customers. Potential customers should be aware of these reported issues. For those interested in purchasing animals or specific products, it may be prudent to visit the store to assess the conditions for themselves and inquire about the health and care protocols for the animals. For information on product availability and any ongoing promotions, contacting the store directly or checking the official Petco resources is recommended.

Mar 27, 2025 · Melissa MartinezCame in looking around at the different fish/snails/shrimp at first but then when I needed help, there’s absolutely nobody to be found. On top of that, while looking at Betta fish, I could see several male bettas that were very obviously dead and one female betta that had dropsy and was not going to live very long. It’s actually disgusting how they leave these dead and obviously sick fish out on the floor for customers to see. Unfortunately, I walked out without making a purchase. Very unfortunate because I had plans to spend a few hundred bucks for my new tank.
Apr 06, 2025 · Courtney KloorfainSecond time I went to this store and bought a bunch of feeder goldfish and minnows. Did 1 errand, got home and the entire bag of fish were dead! Not gonna waste my money in there anymore.
Apr 05, 2025 · Gerry ButtersThis place has gotten so dirty and crowded. Managers repeatedly walk past customers that need help. The few workers are overwhelmed helping multiple people at once. Unhealthy crickets died within a week when I typically easily keep them alive for a month.
Mar 12, 2025 · RhiannonVery helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable sales associate. She taught us about the genders of the fish and was very patient with us while we picked out fish and plants at closing time
