Petco

I needed a refill on my Shih Tzu’s flea medication. This may seem like a relatively simple thing to do, but in today’s world with veterinarians prescribing one thing and over-the-counter medication‘s promoting another. It’s good to get a little personal advice. I called Petco to ask if they had a certain medication and a young lady named Jessica gave me not only the names of what they carried, but the qualities of each of the brands. She took that extra minute to take my questions and the health and welfare of my pet into her full consideration. I made the trip across town to Petco. I bought the flea medication that she recommended and I also bought shampoo and I know that I will return many times in the future to buy more pet supplies. People make a difference and in this case, Jessica made a major difference in not this decision but future decision decisions and purchases. We can buy almost anything We need on the Internet and it’s here the next day. I have no problem with that but I think it’s important for retail management to recognize the fact that it’s their friendly and knowledgeable personnel who really make the difference. I love it here and the staff are awesome!! I adopted some piggies from here a week ago or so, one is very spiratic and the other is very calm. Very distinct personalities! The small animals love the staff as well and all the enclosures are very clean. Especially the fish tanks, and those are hard to keep up with!! I do wish there was a larger selection of goods for small pets. But that's all I can think of that's missing!! (edit: typo!)

Workers don’t greet you, not even smile at you in passing. They are just wandering around not actually doing anything productive let alone being welcoming. We had to get help from other customers because suddenly the wandering worker was no where to be seen. The cashiers obviously haven’t been trained with how to work with the public, they know how to use the register and are rude otherwise. The rodent and ferret area stinks so badly and is visibly dirty. There is poop everywhere in the cage that doesn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. Mouse wheels caked with poop. The bird area isn’t much better, it’s always got feathers caked into the side crevices of the tank. The fish tanks are also usually dirty with green overgrowth all over the glass. Again, workers wandering around or standing around talking while the animals around them are suffering. Disgusting and horribly sad.

Went in fairly essentially in the morning. A few buyers were there. I wanted to get a few goldfish. Couldn't find anyone around. Went to the cashier who was eating and drinking at the register, a customer came up and she told me she could help me in just a minute. I went back to the fish. Waited about 10 min. Walked around again to see if any help was in the store,none. Waited another few minutes, then walked out. The cashier was now folding items near the register, with no customers around. She looked at me and never said a word as I heard it the door.

This store is absolutely disgusting, and the employees should be ashamed of themselves. There was at least 8 dead gold fish in a tank of around 30, the spiders humidity were all up too high, every single cage had piled up poop and none had any water or barely any. I couldnt even walk down the isle with the mice from how bad it smelt. Two female employees were running to the back to do probably nothing, and there was ONE lady stocking and checking people out. There was already a complaint 3 months ago and it's obvious you guys have no intention to care for these animals. I will be contacting everyone I can about this location because this is truly cruel and disgusting. This was the employees working at 2 pm September 16th.
