Small Animals miss-labeled. They had gerbils labeled as hamsters, guinea pigs labeled as Rats and Rats labeled as gerbils. As a national pet store the very least they can do is labeled the animals correctly. As we know people will impulse buy animals at a pet store and rely on the store to give them an accurate animal. Gerbils do look a lot like a hamsters and someone in the market for hamster might end up with a gerbil if both the customer and employee is un educated the visual differences. Gerbils have different care requirements than hamstes. Visually guniea pigs and Rats are different and I would hope they wouldn't get mixed up. But the guinea pigs not being labeled by sex is concerning. If both the customer and employee are unable to sex them, unwanted pregnancies could happen. Colorado has a large unwanted guinea pig problem in the rescues already. Pets stores should do all they can to educate and prevent this from happening. Petco can and should do better. Who cares if a food tag is wrong but not to have the correct labeling for their animals is unacceptable.

Petco Introduce

Welcome to the Petco located at 16960 E Quincy Ave in Aurora, CO. As a part of the national "Pet Store Near Me" chain, this Petco aims to serve the local community with a variety of pet-related goods and services. Petco stores typically offer a wide selection of pet food, supplies for various animals (including dogs, cats, small animals, fish, reptiles, and birds), and often provide services such as grooming and veterinary care (though these are not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews for this location).

Based on the limited information from customer reviews, it's challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the store's environment. However, one can generally expect a Petco store to be organized into sections based on the type of pet, with aisles of food, toys, habitats, and accessories. There are also usually areas where animals available for purchase are housed, such as small animals, fish, and sometimes reptiles and birds. The cleanliness and organization can vary, and specific impressions of this Aurora location's environment are not detailed in the provided feedback.

The reviews offer some insight into the services and features of this particular Petco. One customer's experience highlights the sale of small animals, including gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, and rats. However, this review also points out a significant issue with the labeling of these animals, noting instances where gerbils were labeled as hamsters, guinea pigs as rats, and rats as gerbils. The reviewer also raised concerns about guinea pigs not being labeled by sex, which could lead to unintended breeding. This suggests that while the store does sell small animals, there may be inconsistencies in the accuracy of their labeling and information provided.

Another customer's review details an attempt to purchase fish after setting up a new tank bought from a different store. This experience indicates that the Aurora Petco does sell fish. However, they have a policy requiring a water sample before selling fish, which the customer was not prepared for at the time. The customer also mentioned conflicting information received about how long the water needed to sit before being suitable for fish. This suggests that while the store adheres to certain protocols for the well-being of the fish, the communication of these policies and related timelines could be clearer and more consistent among the staff.

A notable feature, implied by the first review, is the availability of small animals for purchase. However, the accuracy of the information provided about these animals seems to be a point of concern. The second review highlights a policy regarding the sale of fish that prioritizes water quality, which could be seen as a positive feature aimed at responsible pet ownership, although the implementation and communication of this policy appear to have caused frustration for this particular customer. The fact that the store manager responded to the online review suggests a willingness to engage with customer feedback, which can also be considered a feature of their customer service approach.

The provided information does not contain any details about specific promotional offers at this Petco location. Typically, Petco as a national chain runs various promotions, which can include discounts on certain brands of food, special offers on supplies, or deals related to pet services. In summary, the Petco at 16960 E Quincy Ave in Aurora, CO, as a "Pet Store Near Me," offers small animals and fish, along with the general supplies expected from a Petco store. However, customer reviews point out significant concerns regarding the mislabeling of small animals and inconsistencies in the information provided about fish purchasing procedures. While the store has policies in place that aim to ensure the health of the animals, the execution and communication of these policies appear to need improvement. For local users considering this Petco, it would be advisable to be diligent about verifying information regarding animal types and care, and to inquire clearly about any purchase requirements for live animals. Bought a fishtank from the other store then 5 days later go to buy the fish from this store and they told me no. I had to bring a sample of the water in first which I didn't have time for. Being a working mom we don't get a lot of free time to run to a bunch of stores during the week. I told them the water was fine and we did everything right and they refused. We only went to this store because it was closest to where we were at. The store manager even coped an attitude when we said the other store had no problem selling us fish. Edit: In response to the owner I think it would also be smart to make sure every store was on the same page. When people are inquiring about the fish the employee needs to let the customer know that they need to bring in a sample of the water. Also everyone had different time frames of how long the water needed to sit. The tank instructions and 1 store said 48 hours, this store had one employee say only a few days then the manager said 7 days.

I pickup my dogs' food here biweekly, and it's pretty standard for the most part. Last week was TERRIBLE! The cashier was with one customer before me and another employee was clocking in. The cashier was being personable with the guests in front of me (which is great to a point); however, he was taking WAY too long being the only cashier and a line was growing behind me. He didn't bother calling for help or even asking the other employee to help with the line. I waited 10 minutes before the other employee asked if he should help while I listened to the cashier say he was going into the back to get insulated bags for these people's fish. When I was called up to the new employee, I was told I would have to wait for this cashier who was taking forever with a single guest that had already paid because he didn't have the phone to check out my pick up order. I then waited while he helped FOUR other guests while the original cashier continued with the same guests he was with when I first entered the line more than 15 minutes ago. Finally, another employee with a phone was able to come up to help me and was pleasant. The original cashier was just starting to great another guest after I had completed my pick up. I worked retail for over a decade and that situation was completely avoidable and ridiculous. That cashier needs to be retrained in time management and addressing the other guests. It is not hard to trade off the guests that already paid to get them the bags while acknowledgingthe line. Just terrible.

Pick a different location, if you can. They're always low on stock, and it's frustrating. Half the time I go to this location, I end up having to drive to a different location to get what I need, because this location is always out of whatever that is. Today, I don't have the time to drive to another store, so I hope my cats will eat this food, it was the only bag of Rachael Ray on the shelf; not the flavor I normally buy, nor the size (had to buy a small bag, normally I buy the big bag) so, I'm going to have to go to a different location later this week. Such a waste of time.

I'm very disappointed this is the second time I have taken my dog for grooming the first time he was happy well groomed he wasn't itching anymore and looked genuinely clean. However This last weekend I took him in again his eyes were red rimmed and full of gunk he was still wet when he got home like they had forgoten to dry him and he was anxiety ridden and scared like he had been beaten. Now we are about 5 days after I washed him again once because the amount of hair and dandruff coming off of him was outrageous. And he is still itching and generally not happy. I am flabbergasted at the stark difference between visits. I'm not sure I will ever take him there again.
