This store has been a long time favorite of mine and I have come here for many years, and have spent thousands. I have many reptiles whom I’ve taken in as surrenders, so this store is a go-to for emergency bug supply and fun items. The staff is very hit or miss. We have had some exceptionally wonderful experiences with very knowledgeable employees. On the other hand, we’ve had some awful experiences with rude, short, and snappy employees. I do not know their names: one is an older male with kids, and the other is a young girl with longer black hair. I will never forget a few months ago, she was so rude to me when I had my bearded dragon with me on a cooler evening after we had a trip to the vet for a wellness check. “Do you always take your dragon out when it’s this cold?” She asked in such a sarcastic tone. I said no. “You know cold air isn’t good for them.” Of course I do. He was tucked in my hoodie against my skin. I wasn’t going to leave him in the car. “You better watch him for the next week because he will likely develop a respiratory infection” she said in very threatening way. No matter how many times I told her he was fine, she wouldn’t drop it. Ultimately: my dragon IS fine, never got sick. Clean bill of health and very happy. I’ve raised him from 4 weeks old, he will turn a year old this May. It was a one-time outing. Despite her input, I know I’m a responsible owner and I am still in awe of how stupid she made me feel. Educating customers is one thing, but she was downright hateful and humiliating. I have never had such a negative experience with an employee. Now, every time we return to the store and she is present, she seems to recognize me and it is very hostile and uncomfortable. I dread going in on days that she may happen to be there, so it encourages me to visit other stores instead which is a bummer because I love this store! I hope she can find it within herself to be less judgmental towards other loyal customers in the future, or perhaps find another line of work that doesn’t require customer service now that I’ve read other negative reviews on her having had similar problems with her attitude.

Welcome to Nature Box Pet Emporium
Welcome to Nature Box Pet Emporium, located at 13740 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015, USA. As a "Pet Store Near Me," Nature Box Pet Emporium caters to a variety of pet needs, particularly for reptile owners, as indicated by customer reviews. You can reach them at (303) 766-4377 or +1 303-766-4377. Based on the available feedback, experiences at Nature Box Pet Emporium can vary significantly, with some customers being long-time patrons while others have encountered notable issues.
One long-term customer describes the store as a "go-to" for emergency bug supplies and fun items for their reptiles, many of whom are surrenders. This suggests that the environment of Nature Box Pet Emporium includes a good selection of reptile-related products. However, this same customer also highlighted inconsistencies in staff interactions, noting both "exceptionally wonderful experiences with very knowledgeable employees" and "awful experiences with rude, short, and snappy employees." The detailed account of a negative interaction with a specific staff member, a young woman with longer black hair, paints a picture where some customers might feel judged or humiliated. This suggests that while the store may have a good selection of products, the customer service experience can be inconsistent.
The services offered at Nature Box Pet Emporium appear to include the sale of pet supplies, particularly for reptiles, such as live food (bugs) and enclosure enhancements like wood and bedding. The fact that a customer sought advice from staff regarding the safety of bedding suggests that staff consultation is a service provided. However, one review details a significant issue where advice given by the staff regarding "PREMIUM REPTI BARK" bedding allegedly led to severe mite infestations and the death of a ball python, followed by a similar infestation in a carpet python. This raises concerns about the accuracy and safety of the product recommendations provided.
The features of Nature Box Pet Emporium, based on the customer reviews, include:
- Reptile Focus: The store seems to have a strong emphasis on reptile supplies, including live insects and enclosure decor.
- Knowledgeable Staff (at times): Some employees are described as very knowledgeable, leading to positive customer experiences.
- Inconsistent Customer Service: Experiences with staff vary widely, with some being helpful and others being perceived as rude and unhelpful.
- Potential Product Concerns: One review raises a serious concern about a specific bedding product ("PREMIUM REPTI BARK") potentially causing mite infestations in reptiles.
There is no promotional information explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Pet stores often have sales on specific items or loyalty programs, but there is no indication of such offers for Nature Box Pet Emporium in this feedback. To inquire about any current promotions, you would need to contact the store directly.
For local users in Aurora, Colorado, searching for a "Pet Store Near Me," Nature Box Pet Emporium presents a mixed picture. If you are a reptile owner in need of supplies, particularly live food, this store has been a long-time favorite for some. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported inconsistencies in customer service and the serious concern raised about a specific bedding product leading to mite infestations. It would be prudent to research products independently and perhaps seek advice from multiple sources regarding the best and safest options for your pets.
The stark contrast in the reviews, from a loyal customer who has spent thousands but experienced negative staff interactions, to another customer who suffered the loss of a pet allegedly due to a recommended product, highlights the importance of individual experiences and the need for thorough product evaluation. While the store may offer a convenient location and a range of reptile supplies, these reviews suggest that customer service can be unpredictable, and product recommendations should be carefully considered.
In conclusion, Nature Box Pet Emporium in Aurora, CO, appears to be a pet store with a focus on reptile supplies, appreciated by some long-term customers for its selection. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues with inconsistent customer service, including instances of rudeness, and a significant concern raised about a specific bedding product potentially causing harm to reptiles. As a "Pet Store Near Me," it offers convenience, but the diverse and sometimes negative feedback suggests that new customers might want to approach with awareness and perhaps seek additional information or opinions before making significant purchases or relying solely on staff recommendations. To learn about current product offerings or any promotions, contacting the store directly is recommended.

Mar 28, 2025 · Madelynn WayneI am writing to express a serious concern regarding a product I recently purchased at your store. While I have always appreciated the helpfulness and knowledge of your staff, I have encountered a significant issue that I feel needs immediate attention and awareness among your customers. Recently, I purchased two snakes, a ball python and a carpet python. I typically buy live food from your store and decided to enhance their enclosures with some natural elements, including wood and wood chip bedding. Upon inquiring with your staff about the safety of adding these items, I was assured that it was perfectly safe, with the recommendation to monitor humidity levels. Following this advice, I added some of the bedding to my ball python's enclosure. Within two weeks, my snake was severely infested with mites. Despite attempting treatment, the infestation became aggressive, and tragically, my ball python passed away two weeks ago. Alarmingly, one week ago, I used the same brand of bedding, "PREMIUM REPTI BARK," in my carpet python's tank. Now, my carpet python is also covered in mites. The introduction of this bedding is the only change I made to either enclosure before the mite infestations occurred. Given these circumstances, I strongly urge you to review the safety of "PREMIUM REPTI BARK" bedding and inform your customers about the potential risk of mite infestations associated with this product. I believe it is crucial to prevent other reptile owners from experiencing similar devastating losses. Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter.
Apr 30, 2025 · TimThis place will never get my money ever again and all my friends and family also won’t give them another cent. The plants they sell are always dying. They use some sort of wax melt or something to cover the smell of the building because it’s gross. Every single cage is full of feces and the geckos have rotten food in the cages. Every worker there acts like they hate their life and have permanent RBF the males that work there are the worst. I will say I spoke with one man there that was very nice and good with customers. I came in to spend some serious money on supplies and a reptile. I was treated the worst I’ve ever been treated as a customer. I was excited to use my 10% coupon from the expo and was disgusted by the interaction I had. This man or should I say uneducated boy had entitlement and had outdated information that he tired to feed me. This little boy had no idea what he was talking about. I have had this enclosure prepped and ready for months monitoring the temp, heat, and humidity before I even thought about getting the animal I was wanting to get. I know my basking spots and temps I know my uvb output he doesn't. I was disgusted by the way he treated me and talked to me and I ultimately left. I worked in the veterinary field and have worked with reptiles my whole life so I’m pretty sure I’m qualified and didn’t need his outdated incorrect information and terrible attitude. Go to scales and tails or Parker exotics where your treated with respect and their animals are cared for. The owner of Parker exotics has vet med background and takes very good care of her animals and monitoring them. They need to clean up their cages, ditch the nasty wax melters, and clean up their terrible staff. Absolutely horrible place. I’ve heard many people say they also had a horrible experience. Thank god I didn’t get an animal from them with their dirty nasty cages. I tried to overlook and then the attitude and treatment sent me running.
Apr 24, 2025 · becca Lincoln (Beccaboo)The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. I love that they offer many different product brands, especially Josh's Frogs' supplies. Also, the quality of their feeders is always excellent. This local pet store is one of my go-to stores, and I recommend it to everyone with reptile, fish, and amphibian pets.
Apr 14, 2025 · Mirajo T.Amazing store. Great set up, wonderful and healthy selection. Staff is knowledgeable but not willing to listen. All advice was contradicting and reused sales based upon this. Not my first time with aquatics. Went to store across the street and got exactly what I needed and is working perfectly. This is unfortunate because your diverse choices in animal and plant life are amazing! Ego lost your business.
