We brought our 8 month old puppy here for a bath after a day at the beach while on vacation. AyJay did a great job with him! Grooming area was clean and well maintained. Saw a few dogs being groomed, and all looked happy to be there.

Petco Introduce

Welcome to Petco, your neighborhood pet store located at 5120 E Bay Dr, Clearwater, FL 33764, USA. As a prominent establishment in the "Pet Store Near Me" category, Petco aims to be your comprehensive resource for all things pet-related. You can reach them by phone at (727) 373-2601 or via their mobile number +1 727-373-2601 for any inquiries about their products and services.

Petco operates as a pet store, offering a wide variety of goods for sale to cater to the needs of numerous types of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. These offerings typically include pet food of various brands and formulations, treats, toys, bedding, habitats (like tanks and cages), leashes, collars, grooming supplies, health and wellness products, and potentially even live animals in some locations (though this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews for this specific Clearwater store). Beyond retail, the reviews indicate that this Petco location also provides pet grooming services.

Based on the limited reviews available, the environment of the grooming area at the Clearwater Petco appears to be clean and well-maintained. One customer specifically noted this positive aspect after bringing their puppy in for a bath. The fact that they observed other dogs being groomed who seemed happy suggests a potentially positive and comfortable atmosphere for pets undergoing grooming services. However, another review presents a contrasting experience regarding the quality of the grooming service itself.

The services offered at this Petco location include pet grooming. One positive review highlights a good experience with a puppy bath, indicating that basic bathing services are available. However, a more detailed negative review outlines a full grooming service for a Yorkie that resulted in an uneven haircut and, despite being requested, untrimmed nails (with one nail even being left in a painful, inverted position). This suggests that while grooming is offered, the quality and attention to detail can vary. The attempt to add on services like teeth brushing and nail trimming (which the dissatisfied customer felt was implied to be part of a full groom) was also a point of contention.

Several features can be inferred about this Petco location based on the reviews. The presence of a dedicated grooming area suggests professional grooming services are a key offering. The staff involved in grooming are mentioned by name in one positive review ("AyJay"), indicating individual groomers work at this location. However, the starkly contrasting negative review points to potential inconsistencies in the skill and thoroughness of the grooming staff. The pricing of services is also a feature mentioned, with one customer expressing significant dissatisfaction with the $90 charge for a small Yorkie's groom, especially given the unsatisfactory results.

Currently, there is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. Customers mention the cost of services (specifically the grooming), but no discounts, special offers, or bundled deals are mentioned. To obtain information about any ongoing promotions on pet food, supplies, or grooming services at the Petco in Clearwater, it would be best to contact the store directly or visit their website (if available for this specific location).

The customer reviews present a mixed picture of the services at this Clearwater Petco. On one hand, there is a positive experience with a puppy bath in a clean environment, suggesting that some basic grooming needs might be met satisfactorily. On the other hand, a detailed account of a full groom gone wrong raises concerns about the consistency and quality of their grooming services, as well as the transparency and fairness of their pricing. The significant dissatisfaction expressed by one customer, leading them to vow to take their business elsewhere and discourage friends and family from using this groomer, should be taken into consideration by potential customers.

In conclusion, the Petco located at 5120 E Bay Dr in Clearwater, FL, operates as a pet store offering a range of pet supplies. It also provides pet grooming services, with at least one positive report of a satisfactory puppy bath in a clean environment. However, another customer experienced a highly unsatisfactory full grooming service with an uneven haircut and neglected nail care, coupled with a perceived high cost. Potential local users considering Petco for their pet supply needs may find it to be a convenient option. However, those specifically seeking grooming services at this location should be aware of the mixed reviews and potentially inquire in detail about the groomer's experience, the specific services included in the price, and the store's policies regarding customer satisfaction with grooming outcomes. Without further information, it is difficult to provide a fully comprehensive assessment of all aspects of this Petco store.

I have an 8 lb yorkie named Chewbacca. I had my daughter-in-law drop him off for his haircut with specific instructions written down for the groomer on exactly how I wanted Chewie's hair cut. When my daughter-in-law called me from the groomers, the groomer had her ask me if I wanted Chewie's teeth brushed and his nails done. I told her of course I want his nails done, that should be part of any full groom! As far as his teeth, I told her they are bad and unfixable, so there's no need to worry about it. When I picked Chewie up later on, not only was his haircut majorly uneven almost everywhere, but she did not clip or dremmel any of his nails. In fact, he came back with one nail upside down and in pain, and no one said anything about it. I NOTICED IT IN THE CAR ON THE WAY HOME! To top it all off, they charged me $90 bucks! The bill was 50- something before she added on the cost to dremmel and brush his teeth, which she basically tricked my daughter-in-law into by calling and asking me if I wanted his nails done! I've worked for both a groomer and a doggie daycare, boarding, and grooming company. As well as, I've also taken many dogs to different groomers. Never have I been so mad with a groomer and the COST. I don't care what extras you added an 8 lb Yorkie does not cost 90.00 for a grooming unless it's a mobile unless it's a mobile groomer that comes to you! They've lost my business for the future and any of my friends' and families' too!!!

I had the worst experience! One of the representatives, Sabrea, is very condescending and passive aggressive. The manager Lauren had absolutely no clue what she was talking about and accused me of buying multiple fish and bringing multiple fish back without even looking at my purchase history. The store manager Deb spoke to me with such disdain and had such a nasty tone in her voice when she was speaking to me. These people are rude, disrespectful. I've contacted corporate for defamation of character. I will never shop at this store again because of this! The picture attached is the fish that I bought from them sitting under the filter to hold himself down and keep him from floating up because he had swim bladder when I bought him. Less than an hour after buying the fish I called the store back and told them that I thought I bought a fish that had swim bladder. Instead of them asking me to bring the fish back, when I asked "what is the return policy of the fish dies", Sabrea, who sold me the fish, told me that if the fish dies within 30 days I need to bring the dead fish back in the container that I bought it in with the receipt and they would refund my money. For the next few days I cared for the fish and then contacted the vet, on my own dime, and the fish was diagnosed with swim bladder with an underlying diagnosis that we weren't sure, either being parasitic or something else. After 3 days of watching this poor fish suffer and struggle to get comfortable, my vet told me to give him erythromycin. I did that for 3 days and he seemed to be getting worse so I called Petco and told them the situation. Holly was amazing and told me I could bring the fish back within 30 days but I didn't want them to kill the fish so I asked what they would do with it and she said that they would seek help from a veterinarian. I bought the fish on February 22nd and took it back on February 28th. On March the 2nd I went back to the store to buy another betta fish to put in my 10 gallon cycled tank. Sabrea refused to sell me the fish and told me that I had bought multiple fish there and have brought multiple fish back sick from poor water quality. I told her that was just not true I've only purchased two fish and one of them is completely fine. When I spoke with the manager Lauren she said the same thing without looking at my purchase history to confirm that I have not bought multiple fish and brought multiple fish back. If possible I would like to get an email from the owner so I can give them my phone number so we can discuss this. I have never in my life been treated like this from an associate at a store or especially a manager. The store manager Deb accused me of talking nasty to the people that work there which I would never do that and she also said they gave me a lot of advice that I never took. How would they know? I took all of their advice and did what they suggested. In fact before I started purchasing fish there, I was helping a neighbor with their fish who had a fungal infection, it was a betta fish, and they suggested Pimafix and Melafix. That fish ended up dying and when the veterinarian told me I should have used Betafix and I explained this to the people at the store, Jessie mainly, he wouldn't even stop for a moment from cleaning the fish tanks and wouldn't make eye contact with me and didn't even look at me when I told him this. I've never been treated so poorly in my life and I did absolutely nothing wrong but try to care for a sick fish that I bought from Petco and then return him when I couldn't afford to give him the care that he needed. None of this is my fault. I am complaining about defamation of character and being treated poorly, very poorly. When you're a manager, even if you hate the person that you're speaking with you should never show your distaste for them. I know that from working in the retail world. I also have videos and emails from my veterinarian when you reach out to me I can show you these.

I bring my dog to have her nails / claws buffed so they're smooth and not jagged. It's well worth the $20. They have a pretty good grooming menu. The technicians are very professional and friendly. I buy a few things in the store here and there but not a lot. They do have everything and anything you could want for ANY "pet".

The employees seemed too busy to help, and when asked made us feel like we were an inconvenience. If I’m trying to buy something, and I have to wait 30 minutes to even be acknowledged, I’m going elsewhere. This happened on every occasion we visited and we came 4 different days at different times hoping for a better experience. If you don’t wanna work at Petco, work somewhere else. But don’t make your customers feel like a nuisance.
