I'd give 0 stars if I could. Honestly we went for a tarantula but I've been thinking about a chameleon for many months with research upon a chameleon since the last pet shop in South Park but "Archie" was sold quickly. When I went to Petco despite of years ago we adopted a guinea pig that passed 3 days later of being malnourished from them. Left my kids traumatized. They apparently had so much knowledge on the chameleon that they scared us away from purchasing any pet there. We left in disbelief. Super saddened! The first 2 staff members were great and said that the manager spoke in a different manner. That she wanted the chameleon to go to a good home since he's been there for a bit but said we needed this and that that the chameleon wasn't getting before our eyes. When they dragged the appropriate caging for him they said we believe this wasn't in our budgeting though it was. We wanted him beyond the high maintenance but they scared us away. We truly feel that he would of been in the best care with us but they thought differently. Breaks my heart!

Petco Introduce

Petco, situated at 251 Clairton Blvd in Pittsburgh, PA 15236, serves the local community as a "Pet Store Near Me" offering a variety of pet-related products and, at times, live animals. You can contact this location at (412) 650-0175 or their mobile number, +1 412-650-0175, for inquiries about their current inventory and services.

Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at this Petco location appear to be varied. One customer's account details a disappointing encounter while attempting to purchase a chameleon. They had prior research and experience with chameleons from another pet shop. However, their interaction at Petco left them feeling discouraged and ultimately led to them not purchasing the animal. The customer initially had positive interactions with the first two staff members they encountered, who mentioned the manager had specific criteria for the chameleon's new home, as it had been at the store for some time. However, the manager's approach reportedly involved emphasizing the perceived inadequacies of the customer's setup before even seeing it, leading the customer to believe they were being dissuaded from the purchase despite feeling they could provide excellent care. This experience left the customer feeling "super saddened" and with a negative impression of the store's knowledge and sales approach regarding this particular exotic pet.

The same customer also shared a past negative experience from years prior, involving the adoption of a guinea pig from this Petco location that sadly passed away just three days later, allegedly due to being malnourished. This past incident contributed to a sense of trauma for the customer's children and further colored their recent experience at the store.

Another customer review focused on the online order fulfillment process at this Petco location. They placed a same-day delivery order that took six days to arrive. Subsequently, they placed a pickup order for cat food, intending to collect it during a Saturday morning errand run. Despite the store being busy, the customer was initially pleased with the convenience of the pickup option. However, they reported waiting for over ten minutes at the pickup lockers before encountering an associate who was also trying to manage the long checkout line with only one register open. After identifying themselves as having a pickup order, they were told to wait. Upon the associate's return, the customer was informed that "next time" they would have to wait in the regular checkout line for their pickup order. This directive contradicted the purpose of placing a pickup order for efficiency, leading to a confrontation where the associate stated it was to avoid upsetting customers waiting in the physical line. This negative experience with the online order pickup system led this customer to express their intention to shop elsewhere, specifically mentioning a competitor and an online retailer.

The environment of this Petco location is not explicitly described in the provided reviews. However, as part of a national chain, it is likely to follow a standard retail layout with designated sections for various types of pets and supplies, including food, toys, habitats, and accessories. The store likely houses live animals such as fish, small mammals, reptiles, and possibly birds, although the specific availability and the care provided are areas where the reviews indicate potential concerns.

The services offered at this Petco location likely include the sale of live animals and a wide range of pet supplies for different species. Based on the negative review, it appears they also offer same-day delivery and in-store pickup for online orders, although the efficiency and customer service associated with these services are called into question. Standard Petco locations often provide additional services such as pet grooming, veterinary clinics (often third-party), and adoption events in partnership with local shelters, but these are not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews for this particular store. To obtain accurate information about the specific services offered at the Clairton Blvd location, it is recommended to contact them directly.

Features of Petco as a chain typically include a rewards program (Pals Rewards), which offers discounts and benefits to regular customers. They also often have seasonal promotions and sales events throughout the year. However, the provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional information for the Petco on Clairton Blvd. To inquire about current promotions or the Pals Rewards program, customers would need to contact the store directly or check the national Petco website. Given the date of the reviews, any promotions mentioned on the national site or in-store may be applicable.

In conclusion, the Petco located at 251 Clairton Blvd in Pittsburgh, PA, is a local pet store that offers pet supplies and, at times, live animals. However, based on the recent customer reviews, potential customers should be aware of potential inconsistencies in customer service, particularly regarding online order fulfillment, and varying levels of perceived expertise and sales practices concerning live animals, especially exotic pets. The past negative experience shared regarding the care of a small animal is also a point of concern raised by one reviewer. While the store likely offers a standard range of pet products and possibly some services typical of the Petco chain, it is advisable for customers to approach with awareness of the issues highlighted in these personal accounts and to inquire directly about specific services, animal availability, and current promotions.

So I placed a same day delivery order on 2.15, package arrived 2.21. On 2.21, before pkg arrived, i placed a pick up order since I was almost out of cat food and during our Saturday morning errand run, stopped to get it. Place was very busy and was pleased with myself I did a pickup order. Well that didn't last long. I stood over by the pick up lockers for more than 10 minutes before seeing an associate that wasn't running or helping the checkout since they only had one register open and it was over 10 deep. I told her I had a pickup order and she said ok, you have to wait a minute. So I wait a few minutes she comes back and tells me NEXT TIME YOU HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE FOR YOUR ORDER, so I asked what the point of placing a pick up order was? She told me the people waiting their turn in line will get mad. I commented that Well, they could have placed a pick up order too, and seems they are most likely upset already since there was only one register open and there were at least 10 people in line. I really wish out Petsmart carried reveal cat food, but at least chewy does. Good bye Petco.

I normally go to Petco for the cats food (Core tasters). Our Waterfront Petco was out of the food leaving me to come to this one. I was happy I did. The staff was beyond friendly and professional. I found what I needed without any help from staff (which in NC I couldn't, they moved things around a lot.) The store was not as busy as one would think either. I was in and out in five minutes. If your a pet owner, give them a shot and try them!

5 YEAR (almost) UPDATE: My pup continues to experience severe anxiety and back issues after enduring an injury at only 2 years old during a grooming service at this location. Original Post: PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!!! Mine suffered a severe back injury during grooming at this location, causing him immense pain. The vet advised reviewing the security footage, stating that his breed's long back makes future injuries likely. After contacting Petco several times, they reviewed the cameras from the appointment and acknowledged procedures were not followed. They ultimately reimbursed me for the grooming and vet bills, but refused to share details or let me view the footage. My baby was in extreme pain, could barely move, yelping, not eating, and unable to play — a heartbreaking experience. His pain meds helped but caused GI issues, and he now suffers extreme anxiety and requires a specialty vet. I've come across many lawsuits against Petco for injuries and even deaths to pets and have heard nightmare stories from former groomers of the company. PLEASE take your pets to reputable, locally-owned grooming salons and conduct thorough research. I deeply regret taking mine here.

Very rude staff and they sell sick animals, we return it the very next day from purchasing cause it's SICK and they said it died a few days after we returned it so they are refusing to sell other animals cause THEY SOLD US A SICK ANIMAL!! I've never had any issues with animals from other places, I'm never buying anything from this store ever again! The manager is rude, disrespectful, and condescending!!
