Bought dog food from here before evacuating Milton. A week and half later, I got to the end of the bag and it was infested with hundreds of bugs and maggots. I fed my two dogs this for almost TWO WEEKS. After noticing, I called the store and the worker who answered said it’s a common problem at this location with how old it is.. I am infuriated.. I stayed in the store for 30 minutes researching the best food for my puppies because they have stomach issues and had bought the most expensive for its size bag I could find. The worker told me that he and his employees have to wipe bugs off the outside of the bags routinely. This location KNOWS they have an infestation problem and they continue to sell compromised dog food. Absolutely unacceptable.

Pet Supermarket Introduce

For pet owners in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, and those searching for a 'Pet Store Near Me', Pet Supermarket located at 4265 Tamiami Trl, Charlotte Harbor, FL 33980, presents itself as a local option for pet supplies. While Pet Supermarket is a well-known chain with numerous locations, it's crucial for local users to consider the specific experiences reported by customers regarding this particular store in Charlotte Harbor. Based on recent online reviews, there are significant concerns that potential customers should be aware of regarding product quality and animal care at this location.

One particularly alarming customer review details the purchase of dog food that was later found to be infested with hundreds of bugs and maggots. The customer reported feeding this compromised food to their two dogs for nearly two weeks before discovering the infestation. Upon contacting the store, the customer was allegedly informed by a worker that this is a "common problem at this location" due to its age and that employees routinely wipe bugs off the outside of the bags. This review raises serious concerns about the store's storage conditions for pet food and their apparent awareness of an ongoing infestation issue, yet continued sale of potentially compromised products. The customer's distress is understandable, especially given that they had spent time researching and purchasing what they believed to be high-quality food for their puppies with stomach issues.

Another highly critical review comes from a reptile owner who described "absolutely horrible" conditions observed within the store's reptile section. This customer reported finding mealworms that had turned into beetles, indicating they had been sitting for an extended period. They also noted hornworms without proper ventilation. Most concerningly, the reviewer stated that the lights were off in the reptile enclosures even before sunset, implying a lack of necessary heat sources for the reptiles, many of which require constant heat for their well-being. The only lit enclosure was for hermit crabs. Additionally, the reviewer reported finding all crickets dead, both small and large, and described the overall environment as "very unsanitary" with sand scattered around. This review paints a distressing picture of inadequate animal care and unsanitary conditions within the reptile section, suggesting a lack of knowledge or care among the staff regarding the specific needs of these animals.

These two detailed and negative reviews provide significant insights into the potential environment and practices at this Pet Supermarket location. The first review points to a potential infestation problem affecting the quality of their pet food and a concerning lack of transparency or effective remediation by the store management. The second review raises serious ethical concerns about the welfare of the animals housed in the store, particularly the reptiles, highlighting issues with basic care requirements such as lighting, heating, and the provision of live food. The unsanitary conditions further contribute to a negative perception of the store's overall environment.

Given the severity of these allegations, it is difficult to speculate positively about the services and features of this particular Pet Supermarket location. While Pet Supermarket as a chain typically offers a wide range of pet supplies for various animals, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small animals, the reported issues with product quality and animal care at this Charlotte Harbor store cast a shadow over these potential offerings. Customers might typically expect to find a variety of pet food brands, toys, accessories, grooming supplies, and health and wellness products. However, the review detailing infested dog food suggests that the quality and safety of these products might be compromised at this location.

Similarly, while a standard pet store often provides live animals for sale, the conditions described in the reptile review raise serious concerns about the ethical treatment and care of these animals at this Pet Supermarket. Potential customers interested in purchasing live animals, particularly reptiles, from this store should be extremely cautious and thoroughly assess the living conditions of the animals before making a decision. The reported lack of basic care suggests a potentially high risk to the health and well-being of the animals housed there.

Features that might typically attract customers to a pet store, such as knowledgeable staff, a clean and organized environment, and a wide selection of products, are called into question by these negative reviews. The alleged admission by a store worker about a common bug problem suggests a lack of proactive measures to address the issue. The unsanitary conditions and apparent neglect of the reptiles indicate a potential lack of adequate training or care among the staff responsible for these animals. Therefore, relying on the standard expectations of a Pet Supermarket experience might be misleading for this specific location.

Promotional information for this specific Pet Supermarket location is not provided in the given text. It is common for retail chains to have ongoing promotions, loyalty programs, and seasonal sales. However, in light of the significant concerns raised in the customer reviews regarding product quality and animal welfare, any potential promotional offers might be overshadowed by these more critical issues. Local users considering this store should prioritize the safety and well-being of their pets over any potential discounts or special offers and should exercise extreme caution when purchasing food or live animals from this location.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for the Pet Supermarket at 4265 Tamiami Trl, Charlotte Harbor, FL, paint a concerning picture. The allegations of selling bug-infested dog food and the reported unsanitary conditions and apparent neglect of reptiles raise serious red flags for potential customers. While this store operates under a well-known brand, these specific issues suggest significant problems with the management and operation of this particular location. Local users searching for a 'Pet Store Near Me' in Charlotte Harbor should carefully consider these negative experiences and might want to explore alternative options to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of their pets. It would be advisable to visit the store in person to assess the conditions firsthand, if considering purchasing from this location, and to potentially seek veterinary advice if pets have consumed food purchased from this store.

Absolutely horrible. I am a reptile owner and I walked in and saw this; meal worms turned into Beatles (must have sat there for atleast 18 days) praying to god there not feeding those to the lizards/geckos, horn worms with no ventilation to breathe, not to mention the worst of it all NO LIGHTS ON IN THE REPTILES ENCLOSURE ITS NOT EVEN DARK OUT YET… I mean they should atleast wait for the sun to set before completely turning off there heat source. Half of those reptiles need heat 24/7 to so for them all to be off is beyond me. The only light that was on was for the hermit crabs. All crickets were dead small and big. Very unsanitary. Sand was just all over as well. I feel bad for all the animals. Don’t work at a pet supermarket if you are “scared” to care for them or don’t know how to care for them in a proper way.

Be aware….i will never buy another bag of food out of the store ever again. Went to this store to day and bought two bags of wildness puppy large breed foods for my baby just to notice when I got home to feed him, the food has maggots all over his food container. There goes my $131 and my poor pup had to spend the rest of the day without food. 😡 look at the date in the bag Best used by August 4th 2022 today is December 18th
