The only thing nice I have to say is the employees were friendly. Seemed like a very overwhelming and stressful environment for a kitten/puppy. The smell of cleaning supplies is pungent. Even with all that cleaning there is no preventing viruses from getting to their developing immune systems when there is that much foot traffic. If you are looking to adopt or buy a dog. Find a responsible breeder. Find a shelter. It’s that simple. I went through other reviews to see that my assumptions were correct. $500+ for a “purebred” puppy nah that’s $500 for a genetically unsound medical bill. That is what happens when dogs are mass produced for money. Greeders create health problems and bite risks instead of preserving the breed. Not to mention you have no clue where they came from, what conditions their parents are in…

Welcome to Pet-Go-Round
Pet-Go-Round, situated at 701 Lynnhaven Pkwy #1269 in Virginia Beach, operates within the "Pet Store Near Me" category, indicating its role as a local establishment offering goods and potentially services for pet owners. Based on available customer reviews, experiences at Pet-Go-Round appear to be varied, with some positive aspects noted alongside significant concerns raised by other patrons.
One consistent positive mentioned in the reviews is the friendliness of the employees. One reviewer stated, "The only thing nice I have to say is the employees were friendly." This suggests that customers can expect a polite and welcoming interaction with the staff at Pet-Go-Round.
However, other reviews highlight several noteworthy concerns regarding the environment of the store, particularly for young animals. One reviewer described the store environment as "very overwhelming and stressful for a kitten/puppy." This observation points to potential issues with noise levels, the amount of foot traffic, or the overall atmosphere being unsuitable for the well-being of young, sensitive animals. The same reviewer also noted a "pungent" smell of cleaning supplies, which could contribute to a less than ideal environment for both the animals and customers.
A significant concern raised in one review pertains to the potential health risks associated with the environment, stating, "Even with all that cleaning there is no preventing viruses from getting to their developing immune systems when there is that much foot traffic." This comment suggests a worry about the susceptibility of young animals, particularly puppies and kittens, to illnesses in a retail environment with frequent customer interaction.
Several reviewers strongly advise potential pet owners to consider alternatives to purchasing animals from Pet-Go-Round, specifically recommending adoption from shelters or seeking out responsible breeders. One review explicitly stated, "If you are looking to adopt or buy a dog. Find a responsible breeder. Find a shelter. It’s that simple." This direct advice reflects a sentiment that purchasing from this particular store may not be the most ethical or responsible way to acquire a pet.
Further concerns are raised regarding the sourcing and health of the puppies sold at Pet-Go-Round. One reviewer mentioned looking through other reviews and concluding that the price of "$500+ for a ‘purebred’ puppy nah that’s $500 for a genetically unsound medical bill." This serious accusation suggests a belief that the store may be obtaining puppies from sources that prioritize profit over the health and genetic soundness of the animals, potentially leading to future medical expenses for the buyers. The term "greeders" is used, implying a negative view of the breeding practices associated with the store's suppliers.
The same review elaborates on the potential negative consequences of mass-producing dogs for profit, stating that it can "create health problems and bite risks instead of preserving the breed." This highlights concerns about the lack of transparency regarding the origins and breeding conditions of the puppies sold at Pet-Go-Round. The reviewer points out the lack of information about the parents' conditions and the overall breeding environment.
In contrast to these negative experiences and concerns, one reviewer shared a positive experience of purchasing two Dachshunds from the store over a period of time. They stated, "My wife and I have been in this store more then a few times looking at dogs, we're not cat people. My wife always does research on products she buys, and here is no exception. We are proud of our 17 month old Dachshund we bought in Dec of 23' and just yesterday we bought another Dachshund to add to our growing family of now 3 soon to be happy Dachshunds. So far we've had nothing but great experiences thru this store." This review offers a contrasting perspective, indicating that some customers have had positive outcomes when purchasing dogs from Pet-Go-Round.
It is important for potential customers to weigh these differing opinions and consider the concerns raised by multiple reviewers regarding the environment for young animals and the potential sourcing of puppies. While one customer reported positive experiences, the repeated cautions about health risks and the recommendation to consider adoption or responsible breeders should not be overlooked.
Based on the provided information, it is difficult to ascertain specific details about services beyond the sale of animals and potentially some pet supplies. The reviews primarily focus on the experience of purchasing or observing the animals in the store. There is no mention of grooming services, veterinary clinics, or other common offerings found in some pet stores.
Similarly, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. It is unknown whether Pet-Go-Round offers any specific discounts, loyalty programs, or special offers to attract customers. Individuals interested in such information would need to contact the store directly at (757) 431-3647 or +1 757-431-3647.
In conclusion, Pet-Go-Round in Virginia Beach is a local pet store where customers have reported friendly staff. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the potentially stressful environment for kittens and puppies, the cleanliness of the store despite the smell of cleaning supplies, and serious questions about the sourcing and potential health of the "purebred" puppies sold. Multiple reviewers strongly recommend considering adoption from shelters or finding responsible breeders as alternatives to purchasing animals from this store. While one customer shared positive experiences with purchasing Dachshunds, the overall feedback suggests that potential customers should exercise caution and consider the ethical and health implications before making a purchase at Pet-Go-Round.

Mar 18, 2025 · Ryan OttQuite unfortunate to see the dogs in here, many who are clearly far too young to be sold, and all coming from puppy mills. Upon requesting the breeder info for a few, the names were quickly and easily traced to the “Horrible Hundred” list of puppy mills. Sad to see this in such a high traffic place with unknowing buyers. I can only hope the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores will soon be outlawed. Please shop responsibly! There are many ethical breeders in Virginia who do the necessary health testing. Pet store puppies = puppy mills 100% of the time!
May 17, 2025 · Lauren TylerI'm giving this review after careful contemplation and a very sad outcome. Our 7yr old golden retiever Emmi was perfect and so when we struggled to find a golden breeder that didn't have a list a mile long and had waited several years due to this. So when we were lucky enough to find Olive (2nd picture) however it was not brought to our attention that she was a field golden (working line). Thankfully we are skilled dog owners and have been able to work with her temperament. However, if she had been purchased by someone expecting a show temperament, the sweet, cuddly, laid back golden most expect to get, she could have had a bad outcome. Then on to my boy Basil. When I got him, he was very sick. He coughed and wheezed for the first week. He was on medications when we got him home, but he was really struggling and being in that environment wasn't helping him any. My biggest issue, and the reason for this review is.... Basil has been diagnosed with ichthyosis! This is a life long, genetic disease of the skin. He will always have this, and the only thing we can do is the best we can to provide care in a palliative manner. This condition is a recessive trait and rare, unless someone doesn't remove a carrier from breeding. This means that if the breeder had done any of the ethical things they should to to keep the breed healthy, they never should have produced the litter that brought him to us. It's irresponsible and easily avoidable. Basil is the sweetest boy in the world and I would not trade him for anything. But he's going to have a much harder life because of this. And with it being 100% preventable, I'm angry! No dog deserves to have a condition that they will suffer with so someone can make a dollar! We will have outrageous vet bills and he is not even 1yr old yet! As a pet store, these are things you should know. You should know what your breeders are testing for genetically and if they aren't, don't use them! Many families will surrender a dog like Basil just because they don't have the time and money to care for a sick dog. Had we been fully informed, we may have been able to address this early on and prevent some of the suffering he's already sustained. Do better!!!!! ❤️
Oct 02, 2024 · Amanda GI couldn’t believe they had the pet shop I hadn’t seen one of those in ages. It was just the way I remembered it. All the little puppies were in the windows, and they had a little playpen areas for you to get to know the puppies. When I was there there was three dogs in the little rooms. The staff was very nice I was able to ask one of them Questions they don’t seem like they’re in a hurry they are very attentive and very nice and pleasant to converse with. aside from the pets, they had food, toys, pet beds and countless other accessories to suit your favorite Pooch! I would go and check it out if I were you it was a blast.
