M&D Bird World Exotic Birds

My first time in was a bit of a disappointment. From what my sister told me, the birds were more crowded in their cages and less clean looking than under the old management. She had been there several times before, but not since it had changed ownership. There is a fish section, but it's small and not very well maintained. Equipment was all over the floor, and there were several empty, dry tanks. They do have a huge section for bird supplies and toys, and it looks like quality merchandise. They should reduce the number of birds kept at one time. They would be happier and healthier. Their food and water bowls were maintained, and they were actually adding more food when we were there, though it was a child doing it. Though none looked obviously sick, the large macaws looked not very well maintained. Their feathers were not sleek and full. And my sister said they had never been in that condition before. Sad that this was my first experience.

Very friendly staff. Lots of different birds. Was a wonderful experience to hold the birds.

We bought Pina, our pineapple green cheek conure about 4 years ago from here. Although, it was a 2 hr drive, we had a great experience. We got to choose which one we wanted to meet, we got to sit with her for as long as we felt needed. They sent her home with some of their food, fruit and pellets. I recently called about a parrolet. The guy was very nice. Took his time to discuss a lot with me about the parrolets and even the pros and cons of our local pet expos. Will definitely return in the future!

None of the "handfed" lovebirds or cockatiels were allowed to be handled. I was told they were full-flight. They were not tame at all. As for the larger birds, one could guess they are "rescued" birds who are unfortunately marked up for profit?

Went there yesterday to look at a bird my mom really wanted. My family and I traveled two hours to visit this place. Really fascinating to see the different birds they have here. We wanted to hold the double yellow Amazon they had which my mom really wanted. We did their procedure of cleaning up, sanitizing, and putting on a scrub. Folk there were really nice but when it came to them leaving us with the bird where the couches were it was hell. I left to use the bathroom and came back and after a little bit the bird flew at me. Thought it was being friendly but no the bird started attacking me. Yes they did have a sign where it says the birds have the potential to bite. But this bird was ATTACKING me. There is a difference between a bite and being attacked. No employee was around but this younger girl but she wasn’t any help since the bird doesn’t like her either as she said earlier during the visit. So I was left there trying to yelp for help and NO employee came around besides the poor young girl who didn’t even know what to do. With that the bird kept gnawing at my skin. A customer had came to help me. I was left with these bite marks on my left arm. No other employee came around to see if everything was ok. I will NOT be shopping back here again. Was not worth the drive to be attacked by a bird and with no protocol in place to what to do when something like this happens. Very unprofessional and unorganized. I am hoping the wounds I incurred does not get infected. Otherwise I will pursue further action.
