This guy sent me not once but twice a dead urchin. He lied about the shipping didn’t get it mailed out on time when I even chose date. Then it’s been over 4 weeks and he still has yet to refund me. I can’t believe anyone would want to be part of this club. It’s funny because he said when he would get near the register he would do it. Man must of never made it to the register. If I could give a zero I would’ve. What a dishonest company and man.

Detroit Reef Club Introduce

Welcome to Detroit Reef Club, located at 1371 Academy St in Ferndale, MI 48220, USA. While listed under the 'Pet Store Near Me' category, Detroit Reef Club appears to specialize in saltwater aquatics, particularly corals and fish. According to customer reviews, it may operate with a focus on providing a diverse assortment of marine life and related products to enthusiasts in the Detroit area. It is important to note that one review indicates that the operating hours are primarily on weekends, which potential customers should consider when planning a visit.

The environment of Detroit Reef Club, based on the available reviews, seems to be a key feature for some customers. One reviewer described it as having the "best set up" and an "most amazing assortment of Corals and Fish" in the Detroit area. This suggests that the store environment is well-maintained and organized to showcase a wide variety of healthy and visually appealing marine life. The emphasis on the quality of the setup indicates a commitment to providing optimal conditions for the corals and fish, which can be a significant draw for serious reef tank hobbyists. However, no further details about the physical ambiance or layout of the store are provided in the reviews.

The services offered by Detroit Reef Club appear to center around the sale of corals and fish, particularly saltwater varieties. The positive review highlights the extensive assortment available, suggesting a broad selection for both novice and experienced reef keepers. Additionally, the knowledge and helpfulness of "Zach and crew" are mentioned, indicating that the staff provides customer support and guidance in selecting appropriate livestock. This suggests that the services extend beyond mere sales to include expert advice and assistance. However, one negative review details a problematic online transaction involving the shipment of dead livestock (urchins) and a lack of timely refund, indicating potential issues with their mail-order service and customer service in such situations.

A significant feature of Detroit Reef Club, according to one enthusiastic customer, is its specialization in local coral and fish, positioning it as the "best" in the Detroit area. This suggests that they may offer unique or high-quality specimens that are particularly desirable to local reef tank enthusiasts. The knowledge and patience of the staff are also highlighted as valuable features, implying that customers can expect informed guidance when making purchases. This expertise can be particularly beneficial in the specialized field of reef keeping, where proper selection and care are crucial for success. However, the starkly contrasting negative experience regarding online sales and refunds presents a serious concern about the reliability of their remote services and customer support in those instances.

The operating hours, being "mostly weekends," are a notable feature that distinguishes Detroit Reef Club from typical pet stores with more regular weekday hours. This weekend focus might cater to a specific clientele or be due to the nature of the business operations. Potential customers should be aware of these limited hours and plan their visits accordingly. The positive reviewer felt that planning a trip to coincide with their weekend hours was "worth it," suggesting that the quality of the offerings justifies the potentially less convenient access.

The stark contrast between the two customer reviews presents a challenge in forming a completely objective view of Detroit Reef Club. One customer had a very positive experience, praising the selection, setup, and staff knowledge. In contrast, the other customer reported a highly negative experience involving dead livestock, shipping issues, lack of communication, and failure to provide a refund over an extended period. This discrepancy suggests a potential inconsistency in service quality, particularly concerning online orders and customer support in resolving issues. Potential customers may want to consider both perspectives when evaluating whether to engage with Detroit Reef Club.

Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding specific promotional offers or discounts at Detroit Reef Club. Given the specialized nature of their products (live corals and fish), promotions might be less common or more focused on specific events or livestock arrivals. Local users interested in learning about current availability, pricing, and any potential promotions are encouraged to visit the store during their weekend hours or attempt to contact them if possible, although a phone number is not provided in the given information. Inquiring directly about their policies on online sales, shipping, and refunds might also be prudent for those considering remote purchases.

In conclusion, Detroit Reef Club in Ferndale, MI, appears to be a local specialty store focusing on corals and saltwater fish, with operating hours primarily on weekends. One customer highly recommends it for its selection, setup, and knowledgeable staff. However, another customer reported a severely negative experience with an online order, citing dead livestock, shipping issues, and a lack of refund. This significant difference in customer experiences suggests that while Detroit Reef Club may offer a quality selection of marine life and knowledgeable service in-store, potential customers, especially those considering online purchases, should be aware of the reported issues. Visiting the store during their weekend hours might be the best way for local enthusiasts to assess the quality and offerings firsthand.

Best local coral and fish spot in the Detroit area. Zach and crew are knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They have the best set up and most amazing assortment of Corals and Fish. Hours are mostly weekends, but it's worth planning a trip to. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing selection of corals, from high end to low price colonies. Very knowledgeable and honest with customers. In my opinion the best prices and selection within a three state area.

The best we have in the Metro Detroit area in my opinion from the knowledgeable staff, friendly atmosphere, selection and pricing. I wouldn’t take my business elsewhere. They have stuff that is hard to find at extremely competitive prices. Keep up the good work. We have to keep them in business!

I live 30 minutes away, which I consider to be a long drive, but I would drive 10 fold if I was forced to. The staff is super friendly and patient, even though I may be somewhat of a “newbie”. They also assisted me to the absolute maximum and made me feel very welcome. They are very, very knowledgeable and know what they’re doing. The shop is very organized and clean, and it’s worth mentioning again how kind the staff are. I will be returning here for all my future reef tank needs and I will be dragging my friends with me. If you're questioning if it is worth coming here, the answer is yes, 1 million times.
