Captive Born Reptiles Introduce
For reptile enthusiasts in Westerville, Ohio, and the surrounding areas, Captive Born Reptiles, located at 7207D Northgate Way, presents itself as a local 'Pet Store Near Me' specializing in a wide variety of reptiles and related supplies. The store can be contacted at (614) 267-8025 or +1 614-267-8025.
According to some customer feedback, Captive Born Reptiles boasts a significant inventory of reptiles, potentially exceeding initial expectations based on the store's exterior. These reviews also highlight the availability of live feeders, a crucial resource for many reptile keepers, as well as a comprehensive range of other reptile-related supplies. The owner and manager are described by one reviewer as "super knowledgeable" and helpful throughout the purchasing process, suggesting a level of expertise and customer support that can be valuable for both novice and experienced reptile owners.
However, it is essential to present a balanced and objective view based on all available information. Another customer review paints a starkly different picture of Captive Born Reptiles. This review alleges significant issues regarding animal health and the overall environment of the store. The customer recounts purchasing a frog that was reportedly infected with three different species of parasitic worms. The severity of the infection necessitated veterinary intervention by a skilled exotics veterinarian, and the frog was, at the time of the review, still recovering and potentially facing long-term health consequences or even death as a direct result of the initial condition acquired from the store. The reviewer explicitly mentions observing a worm under the frog's skin, indicating an advanced parasitic infection.
Furthermore, this critical review raises concerns about the potential for contagion, noting that the specific worm species is highly contagious, leading the reviewer to believe that other amphibians in the store might also be infected. The reviewer strongly advises against purchasing animals from Captive Born Reptiles and suggests the store should be shut down due to the alleged poor care of its animals. The personal experience shared includes witnessing sick animals and animals without access to water during a visit to the store, further contributing to a negative perception of the store's environment and animal husbandry practices. The reviewer also described a feeling of needing to shower after leaving the premises, implying concerns about the cleanliness or overall conditions within the store.
Given these contrasting accounts, it is challenging to provide a definitive description of the store's environment, services, and features without further objective information or a larger consensus in customer feedback. While one set of comments praises the selection, knowledgeable staff, and availability of supplies, another raises serious red flags regarding animal health, potential for disease, and the overall cleanliness and care standards within Captive Born Reptiles.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local users considering Captive Born Reptiles as a potential 'Pet Store Near Me' for their reptile needs should be aware of the divergent opinions expressed in the limited customer reviews. It would be prudent to conduct further research, seek additional opinions if possible, and potentially visit the store in person to assess the environment and the health of the animals firsthand before making any purchases. Asking specific questions about the origin and health history of any animals of interest, as well as observing the conditions in which the animals are kept, would be advisable.
In conclusion, Captive Born Reptiles in Westerville, OH, offers a potentially wide selection of reptiles and supplies, including live feeders, and at least one customer found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. However, a significant and concerning review alleges serious issues with animal health, potential for contagious diseases, and unsatisfactory environmental conditions within the store. Local users should carefully consider these contrasting perspectives and exercise caution and due diligence when deciding whether to patronize this pet store for their reptile needs.

Feb 06, 2025 · Jared LucasDisgusting place rife with illness. Three months ago, I was given a frog from this store, who came with three different species of parasitic worms. She is still not back to full health, would be dead if she weren’t taken to an incredibly skilled exotics veterinarian, and may still die as a direct cause of the Owner’s poor care of his animals. I watched a worm wiggling under my frogs skin due to her advanced infection. It’s an extremely contagious worm, so I would not hesitate to believe all his other amphibians are infected. NEVER purchase from this place, they deserve to be shut down. When I visited I saw sick animals, animals without access to water, and felt I needed to shower after leaving.
Mar 19, 2025 · Trumpet PlayerAs a advid reptile lover and reptile Owner thare is a lot of Mistakes being made here The one that caught my eye the most was The 7 Giant pythons In one enclosure It's irresponsible and reckless to do this. They can Potentially. Hurt each other. Or kill He has multiple open enclosures where he could easily put them inHe has multiple open enclosures where he could easily put them in. I think people need to be more Aware of how these animals live in the Wild. It's not There for them. And there's no excuse to do something like that. Unhealthy enclosures equal unhealthy babies. Cause I know this man was trying to get them all to Reproduce. But that is not the way to do it. Do better and And set the standards for care There's multiple other issues too. Anybody who has been in the pet trade long enough will know I will never support a business that does Stuff like what this man is doing. The reason why it's a 2 star review and not a one star review is because I still think this place has potential to change those bad habits. You've got very unique animals and all I want to do is see them thrive.
Feb 18, 2025 · alex brittonThis place is an absolute dump. It looks like nothing is being cleaned inside, the floors are filthy, tanks are filthy. I went there to buy frozen rats for my python and there were none available. I believe the animals are at serious health risks due to the current lack of cleanliness inside. Just awful.
Feb 02, 2025 · John WilsonOwner knows a lot about reptiles and I wish he applied it to the husbandry in his store. Went in looking for cork bark (not a lot of supplies there) and ended up feeling horrified. Saw a lot of sick animals and a dead, emaciated bearded dragon. It didn’t help the atmosphere that the owner was going into great detail with another customer about how he tracked down a “thief” and threatened them at their home. Left and never plan on going back.
