The staff here are always great to us (the only reason I gave 2 stars). But we will no longer be purchasing from here. Originally we got a male betta. Then a few weeks later got two snails to add, both snails died in 2-3 days…. I’ve checked and the water quality and all was fine. Ok, a fluke. We got another large tank, did research, set everything up. Decided to go buy a school of tetras for it. Lady working suggested getting two clams too, ok we did. I also purchased two small plants. $100 later…. SHOCKED. We noticed quickly that one of the clams was already dead AND one of the tetras was NOT right… swimming erratically, then could barely swim at all after a day and a half. When I went to check on the erratic fish I noticed it dead, along with ANOTHER dead nearby. Now a few hours later I notice another tetra swimming alone and strangely along the top of the tank. Upon more research it seems they may have neon tetra disease, which is very contaminated, and that the fish was already sick, so the entire tank it came from will probably die… as well as the ones we bought. Again, I’ve checked water temp and used test strips, all is good. I will update my review as we see what happens with the other fish. But as of right now I’m expecting our betta (in a different tank) will be our only survivor soon.

Understanding the Pet Store Environment:
One of the provided reviews paints a concerning picture of the environment within Aqua-Rama Pet Center. The reviewer, identifying as a veterinary professional and reptile owner, states that "the smell of death hits you when you open the door." They further describe observing "7 ball pythons in one enclosure, dead feeder mice and rats literally upside down dead in the tanks," and "Fish in tanks WAY too small for them." This description suggests potentially overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, which would be a significant concern for the welfare of the animals.

The first review mentions the staff being "always great," which offers a contrasting point regarding customer service. However, this positive note is overshadowed by the subsequent experiences detailed in the review regarding the health of purchased aquatic life.

Potential Services and Goods Offered:
Based on the limited information and the nature of a pet store, Aqua-Rama Pet Center likely offers:

  • Live Animals: Including fish (such as bettas and tetras), reptiles (such as ball pythons), and potentially small mammals or other pets.
  • Pet Supplies: Tanks, enclosures, food, bedding, accessories, and health-related products for the animals they sell.
  • Advice: Potentially, staff may offer advice on the care of the animals, although the expertise and accuracy of this advice come into question given the negative review.

However, the negative reviews raise serious doubts about the quality and health of the animals sold and the conditions in which they are kept.

Features of a Local Pet Store:
Typically, a local pet store might offer personalized service and a community connection. However, in the case of Aqua-Rama Pet Center, the overwhelming concern raised by the reviews about animal welfare overshadows any potential positive features. The alleged neglect and poor conditions described are severe and would likely deter responsible pet owners.

The first review details the purchase of snails and tetras that died shortly after purchase, suggesting potential health issues with the livestock. The reviewer also mentions a significant cost for these purchases. The second review is far more damning, alleging neglectful conditions, including overcrowding, deceased feeder animals left in enclosures, and undersized tanks for fish. The reviewer, identifying as a veterinary professional, strongly advises others to "RUN" from this store due to these observed conditions.

These reviews collectively paint a picture of a pet store where animal welfare may be severely compromised. Potential customers should take these allegations extremely seriously when considering whether to patronize Aqua-Rama Pet Center.

Serving the Fayetteville, NC Community:
While Aqua-Rama Pet Center is located in Fayetteville, NC, the serious concerns raised in the customer reviews regarding the treatment of animals within the store are paramount. Any potential benefit of a local pet store is negated by allegations of neglect and the sale of unhealthy animals.

In conclusion, Aqua-Rama Pet Center in Fayetteville, NC, is a pet store that appears to sell a variety of animals and pet supplies. However, the provided customer reviews contain extremely serious allegations about the poor living conditions of the animals and the sale of unhealthy pets. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider these reviews carefully before deciding to visit or purchase from this store. For inquiries, they can be contacted at (910) 868-3482. Due to the severity of the negative feedback concerning animal welfare, a positive introduction cannot be objectively written based on the available information.

If I could give no stars I would. The conditions of these animals should be considered neglect and there is no way this pet store is regulated by the state… 7 ball pythons in one inclosure, dead feeder mice and rats literally upside down dead in the tanks. Fish in tanks WAY too small for them. like all the other reviews said - the smell of death hits you when you open the door. As a veterinary professional and reptile owner…. RUN

This is my second ever negative review, and it's very deserving. This place is brutal. Immediately upon opening the door the smell hits you. It smells like dead animals. Literally from the front to the back. There are a lot of animals in here, it feels like thousands... Maybe a dozen of them are adequately housed. On the way out, without prompting, my 14 year old son told me that he was "sad for every single animal in there." This place is pretty gross, which is unfortunate because they have some animals I've never even heard of.

I’ve been to ALOT of pet stores. And never have I EVER been greeted by the smell of pure death when opening the door. It made me wanna puke. My stomach hurts still. The animals are incredibly overstocked, and just down right disgusted. With multiple ball pythons (which shouldn’t be housed together) in one nasty tank. And with over 50 rats and mice crawling on top of each other. With multiple giving birth, and multiple dead. The crested geckos has no humidity, or anything safe to climb on. And one was dead. Ironic they have suggestions on the wall for animal care, that they don’t follow. And the pricing was insane for neglected and half alive animals. 50$ for Pacman frogs that are 15$ down the road at a much cleaner pet store. I was debating buying a few animals just to save them. But decided against it as it would only give them business. This place should be shut down for good.

I was hesitant to go here after reading reviews. However, the staff are doing the absolute best they can. These guys hustle to take care of the abundance of animals they have in the space they have available. When I was there looking for snails and Otocinclus, the guys were maintaining the aquariums replacing their entire lighting system, making sure people were taken care of, and making sure they weren't in our way in the cramped space (which they do need more space), and the woman was on customer service answering questions, retrieving items, and ringing people out. Without going online, this is going to be the only small business, or heck ONLY place for some animals, you'll be able to see these animals in person and take them home same day without taking the chance of shipping or having to drive a million miles. They also have a super abundant selection of products for aquariums. I have been to nearly every pet store in the Fayetteville/Sanford/Cameron area lately, and this one has the absolute best selection, hands down. Yes, the place does smell. So does the zoo. They have animals in a small space. Animals poop. It's going to smell. Animals, unfortunately, die when you're moving them in and out of a sales floor quickly or sometimes not so quickly. From what I could see, they were attempting to do their best to maintain the facilities with what they have available to them. There is no corporation backing them up and no automated system that calls a crew in to fix leaking equipment within an hour. With so many tanks and a huge wooden structure, it will build up a smell as well. Tanks are overstocked for a home environment, but no more than Petco or PetSmart. The big goldfish are a little crowded, though. Some tanks are not crystal clear, but a crystal clear tank is not necessarily a healthy tank, either. Tanks need biofilm. Healthy tanks will have a little algae (none were overtaken). I was expecting death and decay everywhere. I was met with nature and a great staff.
