I'm bummed they got rid of the salt water fish section! I wonder if it wasn't making enough money... Good thing I don't have a tank anymore cuz I used to go there all the time. Just less pretty fresh water fishes. They are updating guidelines on small pet cage sizes which is good to see.

Animart Pet Store Introduce

For local users in Madison, Wisconsin, searching under the category "Pet Store Near Me," Animart Pet Store, located at 4303 E Towne Way, presents a mixed and somewhat concerning perspective based on recent customer feedback available online. The reviews offer contrasting viewpoints on the store's current state and offerings, suggesting a potential decline in certain aspects of the business while highlighting some positive elements. One long-time customer expresses a sense of disappointment regarding a significant change in the store's inventory, stating, "I'm bummed they got rid of the salt water fish section! I wonder if it wasn't making enough money... Good thing I don't have a tank anymore cuz I used to go there all the time." This indicates that Animart Pet Store previously catered to saltwater aquarium enthusiasts, and the removal of this section is a notable change for customers who frequented it. The reviewer observes that the remaining freshwater fish selection is "Just less pretty fresh water fishes," suggesting a potential decrease in the variety or quality of the aquatic life available. However, this reviewer also points out a positive development, noting, "They are updating guidelines on small pet cage sizes which is good to see." This indicates an awareness of and commitment to potentially improving animal welfare standards within the store, which is a positive sign.

In contrast, another reviewer provides a more critical and concerning assessment of Animart Pet Store's current condition. Their feedback paints a picture of a store that may be struggling. They begin by questioning the store's past glory, stating, "I don’t know if the place looked amazing once upon a time or what but now it’s pretty sad." This suggests a potential decline in the store's overall appearance and upkeep. Specific areas of concern are highlighted, particularly the aquatic section: "The fish tank area was awful the enclosures for all the other animals were either empty or sad looking." This raises serious questions about the store's current standards of animal husbandry and the overall health and well-being of the animals they house. The presence of empty enclosures is also concerning, potentially indicating a reduction in the variety of animals available or issues with maintaining stock. Furthermore, this reviewer expresses strong disapproval of the pricing of some animals, citing, "1500 for a mix breed? Tossing poodle into another dog to make a weird doodle combo doesn’t justify that price tag." This suggests concerns about the ethical breeding or sourcing of animals and the perceived value for money. The reviewer's overall impression of the store's viability is bleak: "Place looks like it is slowly shutting down." This is a significant concern for potential customers looking for a reliable local pet store.

Despite the numerous negative observations, the second reviewer does offer a small glimmer of positivity regarding the staff: "Employees were friendly at least and looked like they were trying their best so felt a 2 star was better than nothing for that alone." This acknowledgment of the employees' efforts suggests that while the store itself may be facing challenges, the staff remains courteous and is attempting to provide good customer service under potentially difficult circumstances. This is an important factor for customers who value positive interactions, but it may not outweigh concerns about the store's overall condition and animal welfare.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Animart Pet Store in Madison, WI, appears to be in a state of potential decline. One reviewer describes the fish tank area as "awful" and animal enclosures as "empty or sad looking," suggesting issues with the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition of the store. The removal of the saltwater fish section may have impacted the store's appeal to a segment of its customer base. While one reviewer noted the updating of small pet cage size guidelines as a positive sign, the overall impression from the more critical review is one of a store that may be struggling with its physical environment and animal care standards. The friendliness of the employees is a noted positive aspect, but it may not compensate for the perceived negative state of the store itself.

The services offered at Animart Pet Store primarily involve the retail sale of pet supplies and potentially live animals. Based on the reviews, they previously offered saltwater fish, but this section has been discontinued. They currently offer freshwater fish, although one reviewer found the selection "less pretty." The presence of enclosures for other animals suggests they may also sell small mammals, birds, reptiles, or other types of pets. The critical review mentioning a high-priced mixed-breed dog indicates they may also sell dogs. Beyond the sale of animals, Animart Pet Store likely offers a range of pet supplies, including pet food, treats, toys, grooming products, and accessories for various types of animals. However, the critical reviewer's observation of "empty" enclosures might suggest a reduced variety of animals or supplies currently available. The updating of small pet cage size guidelines implies a potential effort to ensure the proper housing of animals sold.

The features of Animart Pet Store, as gleaned from the limited and somewhat negative reviews, are not particularly strong. The removal of the saltwater fish section is a loss for those customers. The remaining freshwater fish selection is described as less appealing by one reviewer. The positive aspect mentioned is the updating of small pet cage size guidelines, which suggests a focus on animal welfare in that specific area. However, the "awful" fish tank area, "sad looking" enclosures, and potentially questionable animal pricing are significant negative features. The friendliness of the employees is a positive feature of their customer service, but it may not outweigh the concerns about the store's overall condition and animal husbandry practices.

No information regarding specific promotional offers or special programs at Animart Pet Store is mentioned in the provided reviews. Pet stores often have sales on certain brands of food, seasonal discounts on toys or accessories, or loyalty programs for frequent shoppers. Given the concerns raised about the store's current state, it is unclear whether they are actively running promotions. Local users would need to contact the store directly or visit their location to inquire about any current discounts or special offers.

In conclusion, for local users in Madison, Wisconsin, searching for a "Pet Store Near Me," Animart Pet Store at 4303 E Towne Way presents a concerning picture based on recent customer reviews. While one long-time customer noted a positive step in updating small pet cage size guidelines, they also expressed disappointment over the removal of the saltwater fish section. Another reviewer described the store as "pretty sad," with an "awful" fish tank area and "sad looking" animal enclosures, also questioning the pricing of some animals. The only consistently positive aspect mentioned was the friendliness of the employees. The overall impression suggests a pet store that may be facing significant challenges. Local users should consider these recent experiences and potentially visit the store to assess its current condition before making purchasing decisions for their pet supplies or animals.

We were there for my grandson's birthday party. It was held in a separate room that was nicely decorated. Part of the total experience was a guided tour of the pet store. The tour included opportunities the spend time with and handling a number of different animals including snakes, geckos and kittens.

A unique place to go and shop for your pet or to adopt a new pet. The large store has a variety of items for every pet from dogs and cats to fish and rabbits. They even have feeder fish, mice and rats. The employees were great to talk to and answered my questions. They had two dogs up from Texas for adoption. And some owner surrender reptiles and rodents. Tanks and cages seem clean and well taken care of. They also have a small koi pond in the store and it's cool to see them!

There is a new 4% surcharge on any card purchase. If you try paying half cash, you still get hit with the full surcharge amount. The store looks like it's closing and has almost no products. Employees are not allowed to handle animals to keep them friendly anymore. Prices are almost double everywhere else and they no longer have actual quality products anymore.
