Welcome to Yosemite Pet Hospital
Yosemite Pet Hospital, located at 5918 E Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93063, USA, is a dedicated facility within the "Pet Hospital" category, serving the community of Simi Valley and surrounding areas. The clinic can be reached by phone at (805) 526-3455 or via mobile at +1 805-526-3455. Yosemite Pet Hospital aims to provide comprehensive veterinary care, striving to treat pets as valued family members and offering a 360-degree approach to pet wellness.
The environment at Yosemite Pet Hospital is designed with the comfort and well-being of pets in mind. While detailed visual descriptions of the interior are not explicitly provided, the hospital emphasizes creating a "fear-free experience" and handling pets with care to ensure a "low-stress, high-quality visit." This suggests a thoughtful approach to clinic design, potentially including calming colors, comfortable waiting areas, and a staff trained in gentle handling techniques. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing consistent hours for appointments and care. One notable feature highlighted by the clinic itself is their commitment to longer appointment times, offering 40-minute appointments rather than the standard 15-20 minutes. This extended duration allows veterinarians, such as Dr. Madrazo, to conduct more thorough physical exams, engage in in-depth discussions with pet owners about health concerns, and develop personalized healthcare plans, ensuring that each pet receives the time and attention they deserve.
Yosemite Pet Hospital offers a wide array of services, covering various aspects of pet health from preventive care to advanced medical and surgical interventions. Their comprehensive service list includes, but is not limited to:
- Preventative Care: This is a cornerstone of their practice, encompassing routine wellness exams (recommended every 6-12 months depending on age and health), tailored vaccination programs, and parasite prevention.
- Diagnostics: The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, including in-house laboratory services for quick blood tests, urinalysis, and cytology, as well as advanced digital X-rays and ultrasound capabilities for detailed internal imaging.
- Surgery: They perform a range of general surgeries, such as spaying and neutering, mass or tumor removals, laceration repairs, bladder and gastrointestinal surgery, and common eye and ear surgeries. A dedicated technician monitors vital signs during and after anesthesia to ensure patient safety.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive pet dentistry services are offered, recognizing the importance of oral hygiene for overall health.
- Microchipping: To help lost pets reunite with their owners.
- Nutritional Counseling: Providing guidance on pet diets and nutritional needs.
- Allergy Testing and Dermatology: To diagnose and treat skin and allergy conditions.
- Pain Management: Strategies to alleviate pain and improve quality of life.
- Emergency & Urgent Care: While a full 24/7 emergency service is not explicitly stated, they are equipped to handle urgent cases during their operating hours.
- Specialized Care: Including puppy and kitten care, geriatric care for senior pets, and health certificates for international travel.
- Boarding: Offering a safe and comfortable environment for pets when their owners are away.
- Pharmacy: An in-house pharmacy for convenient access to prescribed medications.
The features of Yosemite Pet Hospital that stand out are both highly praised and, in some instances, subject to critical review. On the positive side, customer testimonials often highlight the dedication and compassionate nature of the staff and veterinarians. For example, one client, an "eight-month-old Maine Coon" named Vlad, highly recommended them, stating that "Yosemite staff and Dr. Madrazo went well beyond their obligations to me as a patient to restore me to health." This underscores a commitment to thorough and dedicated patient care. The extended 40-minute appointment times are a significant feature, allowing for more personalized and less rushed consultations, a factor that can greatly enhance the quality of care and client understanding. The hospital is also proud to be re-accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), a distinction earned by less than 15% of veterinary hospitals in North America, signifying their adherence to over 900 rigorous standards of care. They also offer bilingual services in English and Spanish to cater to a diverse community.
However, it is important to provide an objective introduction based on all available information, which includes mixed reviews regarding certain aspects. While many praise the medical care, some clients have expressed concerns about pricing and the communication style of the staff. One reviewer mentioned that they found the clinic "incredibly pricey" and felt that phone calls about their pet were "scripted," with staff acting like "salesmen" by giving many recommendations and quotes. This client also felt the staff were "not polite" when they approved only certain services and were "judgmental about the brand of dog food" they used. These comments suggest that while the medical care might be excellent, some clients perceive a strong emphasis on upselling or a lack of understanding when clients have budget constraints or differing opinions on pet care products. This indicates that while the clinic aims for comprehensive care, the communication around costs and recommendations could be a point of friction for some pet owners.
Regarding promotional information, Yosemite Pet Hospital does offer various promotions, particularly for new clients. For instance, they have a "New Client Promotion" that provides a free (100% off) first wellness exam fee for new clients, limited to one pet per household. This offer covers the exam fee itself but does not extend to additional services, diagnostics, treatments, or medications. They also offer "Adult Canine Wellness" and "Adult Feline Wellness" packages that bundle services like exams, various vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper Parvo, Bordetella, Leptospirosis for canines; Rabies, FVRCP, Leukemia for felines), and certain parasite preventatives (Bravecto, Tri heart). These packages offer significant savings compared to individual service costs, although booster shots for initial vaccine doses might be an additional cost. Pet owners are encouraged to visit their website or contact the hospital directly at (805) 526-3455 to learn about the most current promotions and their terms and conditions.
In conclusion, Yosemite Pet Hospital in Simi Valley, CA, strives to be a comprehensive and compassionate "Pet Hospital" that prioritizes the health and well-being of its animal patients. Its key strengths lie in its commitment to personalized care through longer appointments, a wide range of medical and surgical services, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and a team of dedicated professionals like Dr. Madrazo. While the clinic boasts AAHA accreditation and generally positive feedback for medical outcomes, prospective clients should be aware of past concerns regarding pricing and perceived sales-oriented communication, and consider discussing these aspects openly with the staff. The available promotions for new clients and wellness packages offer opportunities to access their services at a potentially more affordable rate, making it a viable option for pet owners seeking thorough veterinary care in the Simi Valley area.

Oct 12, 2019 · Pamela LylesWe took our dog there for two years and I regret not finding a different vet sooner. They are incredibly pricey, and their phone calls about your pet feel scripted. They give you a lot of recommendations and quote you for everything, and I think the staff are expected to be salesman. When I only approved certain services/products, they were not polite about my decision. Sadly, they are not good with people. They were also judgmental about the brand of dog food we use (Blue Buffalo). I think they wanted to sell me supplements. I’m upset with myself for going to this vet clinic for two years.
Oct 09, 2023 · Amanda GiacopuzziCaring, Knowledgeable Staff !! Great Doctor ... Took our Dog there today because we thought she had an ear infection. Turns out she did not, but they gave her a very thorough checkup and we got a clean bill of health. As a crazy dog parent we had a laundry list of unrelated questions. Dr. Madrazo addressed all of our questions and concerns and spent a lot of time with us, and made us feel very comfortable. The staff was very caring and attentive to our Dog and we left there very satisfied and worry free !! I definitely recommend this practice !!
Apr 03, 2019 · Paul Epstein (Paulyeps)Really was not a fan of this place and especially not a fan of Dr. Madrazo. To preface, my dog has been to the vet 3 times since we got him about 3 months ago and has never had any issue. He also never really has an issue with anyone and is very social. Dr. Madrazo was very unfriendly to both me and my dog. She never even let my dog sniff her and became very uncomfortable and started to growl (which he does when he's annoyed/it's not aggressive. She asked us to muzzle him which we didn't mind as we wanted the vet to feel comfortable. However, she didn't even give him a chance to get used to the muzzle before she made me, my boyfriend, and the vet tech all hold my dog down to give him his shots. This vet looked at us like we were irresponsible pet owners because our dog growled out of discomfort after she never made an effort to even introduce herself to him. We will not be going back here and will find a vet who is more friendly and better with big dogs.
Dec 16, 2022 · Hannah TragesserThank you Dr Sheila and the entire staff at Yosemite Pet Hospital for being such great people to both my wife and I and our two dogs. You always welcome us with a warm heart and an easy laugh. My dogs adore everyone there and love to come visit. We really appreciate how nice and friendly everyone is and how you shower our boys with so much affection. The level of service is outstanding and we are grateful for your patience and expertise when we ask all our questions.
