Amazing customer service from the front desk staff! Unfortunately my dog woke up with some eye issues, so I called hoping to get an appointment today. I was told they were booked up but I could drop him off and they would make it work! They had him all ready and fixed up within a few hours. You can tell the front desk staff really cares about everyone’s animals. The prices are great too!

Westside Veterinary Clinic Introduce
Welcome to the introduction of Westside Veterinary Clinic, a veterinary care provider located at 2917 Reidville Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29301, USA. As a listed "Pet Hospital," this clinic aims to serve the local community by offering a range of services and potentially goods related to the health and well-being of your animal companions. For pet owners in Spartanburg, SC, and the surrounding areas, understanding the environment, services, key features, and the experiences of fellow pet owners with Westside Veterinary Clinic is crucial for making informed decisions about their pet's healthcare needs.
Westside Veterinary Clinic can be contacted by phone at (864) 587-1568 or via their mobile phone number, +1 864-587-1568. Having accessible contact information is essential for pet owners to inquire about appointments, services, and address any concerns regarding their pets' health.
Based on the available reviews, the environment at Westside Veterinary Clinic appears to have aspects that are both commendable and areas that may need attention. One positive review highlights the "amazing customer service from the front desk staff," suggesting a friendly and efficient initial point of contact. The willingness of the staff to accommodate a same-day drop-off for a dog with an eye issue, despite being fully booked, indicates a commitment to addressing urgent pet needs promptly. The reviewer also notes that the pet was "all ready and fixed up within a few hours," implying efficient and effective treatment. The sentiment that "the front desk staff really cares about everyone’s animals" suggests a compassionate and dedicated team.
However, a starkly contrasting review describes a "absolutely traumatizing experience" related to end-of-life care for a dog. The reviewer notes being placed in a "regular exam room with a blanket on the table" for the euthanasia procedure, contrasting this with a previous experience at another facility that provided a more comfortable and private setting with a couch and rug. This suggests that the environment for sensitive procedures like euthanasia at Westside Veterinary Clinic may lack the comfort and privacy that some pet owners might expect and need during such a difficult time.
The negative review further details insensitive interactions with a technician who asked "how are you?" in a seemingly perfunctory manner and, more disturbingly, describes hearing "bunch of laughing and carrying on in hallway outside the door by employees" while their dog was losing consciousness. This is a serious concern, indicating a potential lack of awareness and sensitivity from some staff members regarding the gravity of the situation and the emotional distress of the pet owner. The final interaction of an employee yelling "have a good day!" as the grieving owner left the office further compounds the negative experience, suggesting a significant lapse in empathy and professionalism.
The services offered at Westside Veterinary Clinic, based on the reviews, include routine examinations and treatments, as evidenced by the successful handling of the dog with an eye issue. They also offer nail trimming services, as mentioned in the positive review. The clinic is equipped to handle urgent care situations, as demonstrated by their willingness to fit in a drop-off appointment on a booked day. It is reasonable to assume that they provide a range of general veterinary services, including vaccinations, diagnostics, and other medical treatments.
However, the negative review raises concerns about the clinic's approach to end-of-life care. The lack of a dedicated comfort room and the apparent insensitivity of some staff members during this process are significant issues that potential clients should be aware of, especially if they anticipate needing such services in the future.
Features of Westside Veterinary Clinic that can be gleaned from the reviews include the efficiency and helpfulness of the front desk staff, their willingness to accommodate urgent appointments, and potentially affordable pricing, as mentioned in the positive review ("The prices are great too!"). These aspects could be attractive to pet owners seeking accessible and reasonably priced veterinary care.
However, the traumatizing experience described in the negative review highlights a critical area where the clinic appears to fall short: providing compassionate and sensitive end-of-life care. The lack of a comfortable environment and the unprofessional behavior of some staff members during such a vulnerable time are significant drawbacks that may deter pet owners who prioritize empathy and respect during difficult moments.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the mention of "great prices" in the positive review could be considered a form of implicit promotion, suggesting that affordability is a potential benefit of choosing Westside Veterinary Clinic.
For local users in Spartanburg, SC, considering Westside Veterinary Clinic as their "Pet Hospital," it is crucial to weigh these contrasting experiences carefully. The positive review highlights efficient service, a caring front desk staff, and potentially affordable prices, which are certainly attractive qualities. However, the profoundly negative experience related to end-of-life care raises serious concerns about the overall sensitivity and professionalism of all staff members, particularly during emotionally challenging times.
Potential clients may want to inquire specifically about the clinic's facilities and protocols for end-of-life care if this is a concern. While the front desk staff appears to be a strong asset, the experience described in the negative review suggests inconsistencies in the level of compassion and professionalism throughout the clinic. It would be prudent for pet owners to consider their priorities carefully when choosing a veterinary clinic, particularly regarding how they wish to be treated during difficult times.
In conclusion, Westside Veterinary Clinic in Spartanburg, SC, appears to offer efficient service and potentially affordable prices, with a helpful front desk staff. However, the reported lack of sensitivity and inadequate environment for end-of-life care are significant issues that prospective clients should be aware of and consider when making their decision.

Dec 27, 2024 · Meredith MasonAbsolutely traumatizing experience. Had to put my dog down after a long illness. Put in just a regular exam room with a blanket on the table. Have experienced this before with another dog at another facility where it was a private room with a couch, rug...making it a comfortable place to do the most hurtful thing you can do. Tech walks in and asks me...how are you? How do you think I am? After the initial shot to put my dog to sleep, tech walks out...bunch of laughing and carrying on in hallway outside the door by employees as my dog is losing consciousness...unacceptable. They knew what was happening in the room as my dogs name was on the door. As I walked out of the office, employee behind the counter yells out...have a good day! What in the world! Terrible experience...would not wish it on anyone.

Feb 27, 2025 · Kenneth BridgesWestside Vet is so caring and nice. I’ve been taking my dog Topaz there for years. I have a new puppy named Knox and they’re so good to him and they always return calls. Dr. Hill is so sweet and professional. I’d recommend anyone to this place.
