Dr. Baranack and his staff are the most incredible people I've ever worked with. Not only does he make it a point to talk to pet parents and answer any questions when my cat or dog is seeing him, he also always comes out to talk to me and my partner even if it's just a tech visit we're there for. It's been twice now that I've called last minute because my fur babies have gotten sick or injured out of the blue and they always do their best to accommodate me and my pets, whether it's squeezing them in between existing appointments or talking to me over the phone and easing my worries. I cannot say enough good things about this practice and I can't recommend them enough!

As a comprehensive Pet Hospital, West Side Animal Hospital likely offers a wide spectrum of veterinary services to address various aspects of your pet's health and well-being. These commonly include:

  • Preventive Wellness Care: This fundamental aspect involves routine health examinations, tailored vaccination protocols to protect against prevalent diseases in the region, and comprehensive parasite control programs covering fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites.
  • Dental Care: Recognizing the importance of oral health, services typically include thorough dental examinations, professional teeth cleaning (scaling and polishing), and potentially dental surgery for extractions or other oral health issues.
  • Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries, animal hospitals usually offer in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, cytology), digital radiography (X-rays), and sometimes advanced imaging like ultrasound to provide detailed internal views.
  • Surgical Services: Many animal hospitals provide a range of surgical procedures, from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, depending on the expertise of their veterinary team and the facilities available.
  • Management of Illness and Injury: This encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions and injuries, utilizing medical therapies, surgery, and supportive care as needed. This might also include emergency and critical care services, depending on the hospital's capabilities and hours of operation.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Providing expert advice on appropriate diets tailored to your pet's age, breed, activity level, and any specific health requirements they may have.
  • Pain Management: Ensuring the comfort of your pet through effective pain relief protocols, particularly post-operatively or in cases of chronic pain.
  • Microchipping: Offering a reliable method of permanent identification to increase the chances of reuniting you with your lost pet.
  • Behavioral Counseling: Some hospitals may offer guidance and support for addressing behavioral issues in pets.
  • Euthanasia and Hospice Care: Providing compassionate and dignified end-of-life services when the time comes.

The specific features that distinguish West Side Animal Hospital could include the qualifications and special interests of their veterinary team, the utilization of advanced medical equipment, a particular emphasis on certain aspects of pet care (such as a focus on a specific species or a specialized area of medicine), or a strong commitment to client communication and education. It's easy to find, and the people are all great. Everyone had a smile for me, and for my big furry Rottweiler friend, the staff were all very nice and were both helpful and patient with us as new customers (me) and patient (my dog). Everything was explained when needed, and all my questions were answered politely (even when I might have asked a dumb question). We will definitely be back.

If i could give 0 stars i would. sent my dog there for an xray and made it very known i wanted an xray to confirm her torn ACL. Doctor called and said her xray showed it tore completely and she would need surgery ( which i already figured) on top of the exam they discovered she had an ear infection. they charged me 250 for cleaning ( 50 each side) and meds.. didn’t ask if i even wanted this, as this has been an on going issue with my dog due to her having flappy ears so it is more common. doctor said “ ok come get your dog she is ready for pickup, bye come get your dog” like rushing me to come get her. When i show up my bill was 200+ more than what i was quoted due to her ears. they didn’t ask if i even wanted this done. when i called to get my xray of my dogs torn ligament, no one answered as i called 9 different times. i finally text someone and they responded an hour later to say she didn’t even have an xray done. as i told them i needed this for her surgery to get going. all of that and i didn’t even get an xray which is what i needed. and the doctor even said “ her xray” never take your dogs here or cats. they do not care about your pets at all

I’m waiting at the hospital to pick my sweet pup up that almost died. After being “treated” all week for a condition she didn’t have by Dr. Baranack. Dr. Baranack told me on Friday (her 5th day of being seen in a row) that I didn’t need to take her to Metropolitan Emergency. She was in emergency surgery the next day at the hospital. The doctor and his awful wife do not care about your pets at all! Please don’t take your babies there. This would be zero stars if it were allowed.
