I am a first time pet parent with my chihuahua poodle puppy who is currently 16 weeks. I visited the vetco clinic in Dover today for my puppys third and final round of shots w/ micro chip. She was weighed in at nine pounds. During the exam process, the veterinarian Dr. G, abruptly, rudely, accusingly, and argumentatively stated multiple times that my puppy was “significantly/severely underweight.” While the comment in itself is not the issue. The issue is the accusatory tone, lack of bedside manner, and uncouth. When I stated she was a puppy and is nine pounds while simultaneously asking what is the average weight, she did not respond or answer accordingly only defensively and offensively stating, “It doesn’t matter… I can see and feel her ribs…I’ve been a vet for 30+ years” Only after I asked multiple times what her weight was supposed to be, did she finally answer 15-20 pounds. Majority of my encounters with Vetco have been informative, positive, and helpful. This encounter left me feeling unrightfully judged, embarrassed, offended, and frustrated. That same day I got a second, third, and fourth opinion from my dog trainer, the vetco tech in Middletown and the Vetco Veterinarian Dr. S in Middletown and they all told me my puppy was healthy and average weight for her breed and size. With the second Vet stating upping her food intake is completely optional. This lady may allegedly be book smart but she needs to take a class on decorum and etiquette. Unknowingly, if she told me my pet goldfish needed water, I’d still require a second opinion. Do not trust her judgment.

Our Environment: Efficiency and Accessibility

Based on the customer reviews, the environment at Vetco Vaccination Clinic appears to be one focused on efficiency and accessibility, particularly for routine services like vaccinations and microchipping. One reviewer who visited for their puppy's final round of shots and microchip found the overall experience to be great. Another reviewer with a more general experience at a Petco veterinary service (likely related, given the name) described the staff as friendly, informative, and eager to help, also noting the expediency and promptness of services. However, one detailed review presents a contrasting experience regarding bedside manner during an examination. This suggests that while the clinic may be efficient and accessible, individual interactions with veterinary staff can vary.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

  • Microchipping: The implantation of microchips for pet identification is another service mentioned in the reviews.
  • Basic Health Exams: A general check-up is usually performed before administering vaccinations to ensure the pet is healthy. One review details a specific exam experience.
  • Parasite Prevention: Advice and products for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention are commonly offered.
  • Potentially other basic veterinary services: While the name highlights vaccinations, being a "Pet Hospital" suggests the possibility of other limited medical services.

It's important to note that the level and scope of services might be more focused compared to a full-service veterinary hospital.
