Dec 17, 2024 路 Christina BakerThank you so much Ben, Dr. Tsai and Julie for assisting us this morning during such a hard time through the peaceful transition of our beloved cat. This is a great place and you are all so compassionate and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for future pet care services and will always recommend this place to other pet parents who are looking for top-notch care of their pets.
Jul 20, 2024 路 Michael LDr. Kelpe has been our veterinarian for seven years, and my dog, Rocco, wouldn't be alive without him. When Rocco needed immediate surgery in a life-threatening situation, both Dr. Kelpe and his partner worked on him over the July 4th holiday. They performed the surgery during the day, went back to check on him at 11:00 pm that night (!!!), and basically treated both of us like their own family. All that, plus friendly staff and a clean facility. As far as price goes, no vet care is cheap. I've had four Goldens, and the prices at this facility are commensurate with others in the area. Even though I live in Irvine now, I still bring my dog back to SMACC for check-ups and boarding. Two thumbs up.
Apr 02, 2018 路 Susan ValentaI am not rating lower only due to positive past experiences, but this last one was horrific. We had to put our miniature dachshund of almost 18 years down on Sunday. I had to do this a few years ago with our other minidach and all went well. That was a sad experience, but comforting to know he went peacefully. Everything was going fine this time until the final injection. I was asked to hold Luki during the process because the catheter wasn't located well for the doctor while he was laying down (I believe). I figured that'd possibly be more comforting for both myself and Luki, so I held him in my arms. What happened next will haunt me forever. Upon the final injection, Luki tensed up stretched his head up and yelped as if he was in excruciating pain, two times, and then went limp in my arms. The last memory I now have of the dog I've loved for the last 18 years is not of him drifting peacefully away, but in outright pain and dying immediately afterward. This is killing me inside, and to add insult to injury, I paid $650.00 for this experience. The only thing I can take solace in, is that I do not have another pet, so will not be visiting VCA RSM anytime in the foreseeable future.
