Don’t fall for a free check up BS they advertise. I called them afterwards to reschedule my dog’s appointment and the gentleman who picked up the phone was extremely disrespectful. He clearly didn’t give a shit about my inquiries and demanded my credit card number for a $100 deposit. When I asked to the reasoning behind the deposit, he was extremely frustrated with explaining their deposit policy. Let me make this clear to you all. No one expects to pay a $100 deposit without knowing what tests you will be offering. I cannot be bothered to call you guys back, so do me a favor and cancel my appointment. Also, please tell your staff to go work elsewhere if they are unhappy about explaining such ridiculous policy. Terrible service and unethical policy.

While the hospital aims for high standards, as indicated by its features, it is important to acknowledge that customer experiences can vary. The provided reviews highlight challenges related to communication, appointment scheduling, and deposit policies. These indicate areas where the hospital might need to refine its processes to ensure consistent positive client interactions, particularly concerning upfront communication about financial policies and accurate data entry.

Promotional Information and Community Engagement

VCA Povar Animal Hospital, like other VCA facilities, often engages in promotional activities aimed at attracting and retaining clients. Common promotions include a "FREE First Exam" for new clients, a common offering designed to encourage pet owners to experience their services. They also participate in broader VCA initiatives such as pet health resources, prescription refill services, and the myVCA app.

For local users in East Providence, the hospital promotes itself as a reliable source for comprehensive veterinary care, emphasizing its full range of services from wellness exams to surgery and dentistry. The convenience of its location at 15 1st St, East Providence, RI 02914, and direct phone lines (401) 434-0106 and +1 401-434-0106 are key aspects of its local promotion. The hospital's affiliation with a large, reputable network like VCA is often highlighted as a sign of quality and comprehensive resources.

However, given the negative reviews, it's crucial for the hospital to address feedback regarding customer service, particularly concerning communication about policies and appointment confirmations. Transparency regarding deposit requirements and accurate recording of client information during booking are areas where improvement could significantly enhance customer satisfaction and reinforce a positive public image. Despite these challenges, the hospital remains a key "Pet Hospital" in East Providence, offering a broad spectrum of veterinary services to the community.

Brought my dog in for an appointment that was scheduled, and they wouldn’t see her. They claim they tried to reach out to confirm appointment and collect deposit, but I never got a call. Come to find out they had a completely wrong number (mind you this was the first visit). The number wasn’t even a number I ever had, nor was it a number similar to mine, so I absolutely did not enter my number wrong during booking. Also, my dog is 6mo and their records said 1 week. Something is clearly wrong with their online booking system. They refused to accommodate us. Very very rude and ignorant.

Avoid this one. They offered a free first exam which we signed up for. We had a 20 minute intake conversation about our dogs, and we sent over our paper work. A month goes by and they call asking for $100 - because they "changed their policy" I asked to see where it says that the free appointment I signed up for costs $100? The right thing to do is to adhere to your advertisement, and not bait and switch. This is sketchy and a bad practice, even if it is "just a deposit". I wanted to try out a new location since we moved, but we will be staying put with our independently owned vet and driving the extra distance.

We are newish to this vet. They're friendly and helpful and were able to get us in for an urgent visit. Pricey, but they can and do work with you. Handled my almost 11 year old grumpy baby cat with care.
