Upon entering The Little Animal Hospital, clients are greeted by an atmosphere that prioritizes comfort and tranquility for both pets and their owners. While specific details about the interior design are best experienced in person, the consistent theme across client reviews suggests a clean, organized, and reassuring space. The staff's approachability and understanding contribute significantly to this welcoming environment. For instance, one client fondly recalled how the staff was "understanding, never judgmental and accommodating" when their Saint Bernard, who was uncomfortable around other dogs, needed a different exit. This attention to individual pet needs helps alleviate the stress often associated with vet visits, creating a more positive experience for anxious animals and their human companions alike.
The overall ambiance is designed to make pets feel as at ease as possible, which is crucial for successful veterinary care. The staff's calm demeanor and gentle handling techniques further enhance this pet-friendly environment. This consideration for the emotional well-being of their patients is a hallmark of The Little Animal Hospital, distinguishing it as a place where pets are not just treated, but genuinely cared for.
As a full-service Pet Hospital, The Little Animal Hospital offers a wide array of veterinary services designed to maintain the health and well-being of companion animals throughout their lives. While a complete list of services is best confirmed directly with the clinic, based on typical offerings of reputable pet hospitals and the nature of client reviews, one can expect services to include:
Preventive Care: This forms the cornerstone of good pet health and likely includes routine wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm), and nutritional counseling. Regular check-ups are essential for early detection of potential health issues, allowing for timely intervention.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses, the hospital likely provides a range of diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), digital radiography (X-rays), and potentially ultrasound. These tools enable veterinarians to gain a comprehensive understanding of a pet's internal health.
Medical Treatment: For pets suffering from illnesses or chronic conditions, the clinic would offer medical management, including prescription medications, fluid therapy, and ongoing monitoring.
Surgical Procedures: Common surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering, soft tissue surgeries, and potentially some orthopedic procedures, are typically provided. A strong emphasis on pre-surgical evaluations and post-operative care would be expected to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Dental Care: Dental health is crucial for overall pet well-being. Services likely include dental cleanings, extractions, and preventative dental advice.
Emergency and Urgent Care: While not explicitly stated as a 24/7 emergency center, the prompt attention given to a sick dog, as described by a reviewer, suggests their capacity to handle urgent cases during business hours. For after-hours emergencies, they would likely provide referrals to specialized emergency clinics.
Senior Pet Care: As pets age, their healthcare needs evolve. The clinic likely offers specialized care plans for senior pets, focusing on managing age-related conditions and maintaining their quality of life.
What truly sets The Little Animal Hospital apart are its distinctive features, particularly its unwavering commitment to client communication, personalized care, and the demonstrable compassion of its staff. Client reviews consistently highlight these aspects:
Knowledgeable and Explanatory Veterinarians: Clients consistently praise veterinarians like Dr. Rollmann and Dr. Kruske for their extensive knowledge and, more importantly, their ability to explain complex medical information clearly. As one reviewer noted, Dr. Rollmann "takes the time to explain the care he is providing, his recommendations, and my options." Similarly, Dr. Kruske was commended for taking "the time necessary to address why my girl was sick (we were there for an hour) and she never made me feel rushed." This dedication to thorough communication empowers pet owners to make informed decisions about their pet's health.
Exceptional and Empathetic Staff: The entire team, from receptionists to technicians, receives high praise. The long-term patronage of clients, some for nine years, speaks volumes about the consistent quality of care. The anecdote about Lisa D and Lisa W assisting a client with a sick dog demonstrates the proactive and compassionate nature of the support staff, going above and beyond to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience during a stressful time. Their kindness, as one reviewer stated, will "NEVER forget."
Individualized Care and Accommodation: The hospital's willingness to accommodate specific needs, such as using a different exit for a dog uncomfortable with others, illustrates their flexible and empathetic approach to patient care. They understand that each pet is unique and may require tailored handling and considerations.
Consistency in Care: The ability to maintain high standards of care, whether seeing a regular veterinarian or a new one, is a significant strength. The positive experience with Dr. Kruske, even when Dr. Rollmann was unavailable, underscores the consistent quality across their veterinary team.
While specific promotional offers are not detailed in the provided information, a veterinary practice of this caliber would likely engage in various forms of community outreach and client appreciation. Potential promotional activities or characteristics might include:
New Client Offers: Many veterinary clinics offer initial discounts or complimentary first exams for new patients to encourage visits and build relationships.
Wellness Plans: To promote proactive healthcare, The Little Animal Hospital might offer discounted wellness plans that bundle essential preventive services over a year, making comprehensive care more affordable.
Seasonal Promotions: Campaigns related to seasonal pet health concerns, such as dental health month or flea and tick prevention awareness, often feature special pricing or educational events.
Online Presence and Educational Resources: A modern veterinary clinic typically maintains an informative website and social media presence, providing valuable pet health information, appointment booking options, and updates on clinic news. This also serves as a platform for sharing educational content and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Client Referral Programs: Satisfied clients are often the best advocates. Referral programs could incentivize existing clients to recommend the hospital to friends and family.
Community Involvement: Participation in local pet adoption events, health fairs, or partnerships with animal shelters further demonstrates a commitment to the community and provides opportunities to educate the public about pet health.
The consistent positive feedback and enduring client relationships speak volumes about the quality of care and service at The Little Animal Hospital. Their dedication to the well-being of pets and the satisfaction of their owners makes them a highly recommended choice for veterinary services in Port Washington, WI.

Aug 03, 2023 · Kazzandria DuraliaI have been taking my pets to the Little Animal Hospital for about 9 years. I have always received excellent care from the entire staff - receptionists, technicians, and veterinarians. I used to have a very sweet saint bernard that loved people but just wasn't fond of other dogs. The staff was understanding, never judgmental and accommodating (we would sometimes use a different exit). I will NEVER forget the kindness that they showed. I'm a creature of habit so my dogs usually see Dr. Rollmann. He is quite knowledgeable, takes the time to explain the care he is providing, his recommendations, and my options. I had to bring my one of my dogs in recently when she was ill and Dr. Rollmann was not working so we saw Dr. Kruske for the first time. She was very friendly, also knowledgeable, took the time necessary to address why my girl was sick (we were there for an hour) and she never made me feel rushed. Lisa D was also very helpful this day, she saw me arrive and came outside to help me get my dog inside. Once inside, Lisa W also provided assistance. They both were wonderful!
Feb 03, 2017 · Maureen McGuireDr.Roman, other doctors, techs and the ladies at the front office are very professional and willing to help. The prices are reasonable compared to other vets in the area! I am taking my 3 dogs there and very happy with the service and my dogs are well taken care of! Thank you.
Mar 02, 2024 · Cate IndermuehleCan’t say enough about this place. We have a fear reactive/aggressive German Shepherd and they are beyond accommodating. The whole staff made our dog and myself feel as comfortable and calm as possible and worked with me to figure out the best way to treat. 10/10 recommend !
Jan 18, 2024 · RyanWe had an emergency with one of our dogs and Dr. Jordan found a spot for her. Cost for meds, examination, and sample tests reasonable. More importantly the staff was friendly and professional as was the doctor. Our dog appears to be on the mend
