I’ve only had great experiences with the staff at the Cat Doctor. I’ve been bringing my kitties to the Cat Doctor for almost 7 years and despite my calico’s feisty personality (and by feisty I mean rude…she’s a straight up brat) you can tell they genuinely care about each patient as if they were their own. They’re knowledgeable and thorough, thoughtful, kind, professional, and most importantly love my babies. Thank you :)

Welcome to The Cat Doctor

Introducing The Cat Doctor, a specialized pet hospital located at 183 Brighton Ave, Portland, ME 04102, USA, dedicated exclusively to the health and well-being of feline companions. Recognizing the unique needs and often particular temperaments of cats, The Cat Doctor provides a focused environment and a team with specific expertise in feline veterinary medicine. For cat owners in the Portland area, The Cat Doctor offers a haven where their beloved felines can receive knowledgeable, thorough, and gentle care tailored to their specific needs.

The environment at The Cat Doctor is thoughtfully designed to be as stress-free as possible for feline patients. Unlike traditional veterinary clinics that cater to a variety of animals, a cat-only practice eliminates the sights, sounds, and smells of other species, which can be a significant source of anxiety for many cats. This specialized environment likely includes a calm and quiet waiting area, examination rooms specifically equipped for cats, and potentially separate areas for different purposes, such as recovery or procedures, all tailored to feline comfort and safety. The focus is on creating a serene and secure space that minimizes stress and promotes a more positive veterinary experience for cats.

The services offered at The Cat Doctor are comprehensive and cater specifically to the health needs of cats throughout their lives. These typically include routine wellness examinations, which are crucial for early detection of health issues and maintaining overall well-being. Vaccinations, tailored to the individual cat's lifestyle and risk factors, are a cornerstone of preventative care. Parasite control, including protection against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and internal parasites, is also a vital service. The Cat Doctor likely provides comprehensive dental care, recognizing the prevalence of dental disease in cats, which can range from routine cleanings to addressing more complex dental issues.

Beyond preventative care, The Cat Doctor is equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of feline illnesses and injuries. This includes laboratory services for blood work, urine analysis, and other diagnostic tests, as well as imaging capabilities such as X-rays when needed. The veterinarians at The Cat Doctor possess specialized knowledge in feline internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, and other areas relevant to cat health. They are adept at recognizing subtle signs of illness in cats, which can often be masters at hiding discomfort.

A significant feature of The Cat Doctor is the expertise and genuine care of their staff. Reviews from cat owners consistently highlight the knowledgeable, thorough, thoughtful, kind, and professional nature of the team. Even cats with "feisty" personalities, as one reviewer described their "rude" calico, are treated with patience and genuine care, indicating a team that understands and is comfortable handling cats with varying temperaments. The staff's ability to make even a challenging patient feel like they are in good hands speaks volumes about their expertise and dedication. The reviewers express a strong sense of trust and appreciation for the love and care their "babies" receive at The Cat Doctor.

Efficiency and professionalism are also noted features. One reviewer described their visit as "very pleasant," highlighting the punctuality of appointments and the pleasant and professional demeanor of all staff members. The team takes the time to answer questions thoroughly and provide clear explanations, ensuring that cat owners are well-informed about their pet's health and treatment plans. The ability to bring multiple cats in for their annual check-ups at the same time further demonstrates the clinic's efficiency and consideration for pet owners' time.

Currently, the provided information does not include details about specific promotional offers at The Cat Doctor. However, specialized clinics sometimes offer introductory discounts for new clients, multi-cat discounts for households with multiple felines, or wellness plans designed to make routine care more affordable through bundled services and payment options. To inquire about any current specials or pricing for their services, it is recommended to contact them directly at (207) 874-2287 or +1 207-874-2287. You can also ask about their policies on payment and insurance during your call.

In conclusion, The Cat Doctor in Portland, Maine, offers a specialized and highly recommended option for feline veterinary care. Very pleasant visit. We were able to bring both cats in and have their annual at the same time. All was on time, all staff were pleasant and professional. Questions answered and explained. All in all a great experience.

We have been taking our cat to The Cat Doctor since he was a sick little foster kitten. He is now almost 16 and over the years the veterinarians and staff have always been compassionate, responsive, and ready with proactive recommendations to improve his care and health. We continue to be very grateful for their ongoing support as he ages. We wouldn’t take him anywhere else!

Exceptional! Everyone at The Cat Doctor seemed to know my Butters. I think Butters now likes to go to ‘the vet’ for his appointments. And Laurie especially for her ability to educate and walk me through some of those difficult discussions about aging cats. I appreciate the standard of care. Tnx.

Bug and I adore the Cat Doctor! So much so, we highly rave and recommend them to everyone. Before Bug, I was never a cat person. She kind of just fell into my lap and I rolled with it. The Cat Doctor was extremely helpful with this transition from non-cat person to forever cat mama and I couldn’t be more thankful. I have complete confidence in their care for Bug!
