We have been going to SNVH for just over five years, since my dog was just a few months old, and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. Everyone is so kind, knowledgeable, and comforting. My dog can be nervous during exams but everyone is so patient and gentle with her that she is still so happy every time we arrive.

Welcome to Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital
Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital (SNVH), located at 8 Main St, Newfields, NH 03856, USA, is a distinguished "Pet Hospital" that prides itself on delivering exceptionally high standards of veterinary care. The facility is committed to providing advanced medical services with a deeply compassionate approach, earning strong praise from many of its long-term clients. SNVH goes beyond standard practice by holding several prestigious accreditations and certifications, reflecting its dedication to excellence in animal health.
The environment at Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital is meticulously designed to ensure both patient and client comfort. Reviews frequently highlight the staff as "kind, knowledgeable, and comforting," which contributes significantly to a positive atmosphere, especially for nervous pets. SNVH is notably a Gold Level Certified "Cat Friendly" Practice by The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and is Fear Free Certified. These certifications mean that the hospital's staff is specially trained in gentle handling techniques and that the environment is adapted to reduce stress and anxiety for pets during visits. This commitment to a low-stress environment is evident in the positive feedback from clients, whose nervous dogs become "happy every time we arrive." Beyond the general atmosphere, the hospital's facilities are designed for optimal patient safety and care, featuring two separate surgical rooms with human-hospital grade HEPA filtration and positive pressure systems to minimize infection risk, ensuring a clean and safe surgical environment.
Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services designed to address the diverse needs of canine and feline patients, from routine wellness to complex medical and surgical interventions. Their services include:
- Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the foundation of their practice, encompassing regular check-ups, vaccinations, and tailored preventive medicine to maintain pets' long-term health. They are noted for thorough preventive care exams, which can last up to 40 minutes, incorporating in-depth discussions with pet owners about their pet's activity, behavior, and risk factors.
- Anesthesia Safety: They prioritize patient safety during procedures requiring anesthesia, utilizing advanced monitoring equipment like electronic ventilators and multi-parameter monitors, along with warmed intravenous fluids.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Equipped with advanced digital radiology (X-rays) and ultrasound (including Color Doppler), SNVH provides thorough internal diagnostics. They also work with visiting specialists for advanced ultrasound and echo.
- Surgery: The hospital is equipped to perform various surgical procedures, with a strong emphasis on sterile environments and comprehensive pain management. Their two separate surgical suites with HEPA filtration are a testament to their commitment to reducing surgical infection risks.
- Dentistry: Comprehensive dental care is offered, including procedures that prioritize patient comfort and long-term oral health.
- Pain Management: A key aspect of their compassionate care, ensuring pets are comfortable and free from pain, especially during and after surgical procedures.
- Emergency & Triage: While specific details on 24/7 emergency care are not provided, as a comprehensive hospital, they are equipped to handle urgent cases during operational hours and likely provide guidance for after-hours emergencies.
- Acupuncture: Offering alternative therapy options, acupuncture is available to complement conventional treatments for various conditions.
- In-house Laboratory: Equipped with state-of-the-art lab equipment (Idexx Sedivue, Catalyst, ProCyte, and Snap Pro), allowing for rapid and accurate diagnostic testing.
- In-house Pharmacy: Providing convenient access to necessary medications.
- Specialty Referrals: They collaborate with local visiting specialists in areas such as Orthopedics, Ultrasound/Echo, Endoscopy, and Specialty Surgery to provide clients with the best possible care options.
Several features make Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital stand out significantly. Firstly, it is the only veterinary hospital in the NH Seacoast that is Accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). AAHA accreditation is a voluntary and rigorous process, with only about 15% of all small animal practices in the U.S. achieving this status. It signifies that SNVH meets or exceeds over 900 individual standards covering all areas of veterinary practice, from patient care and surgery to client communication and recordkeeping. This is particularly notable in New Hampshire, where there is no required state inspection program for veterinary hospitals.
Secondly, SNVH is owned by a Board-Certified Specialist in Canine & Feline Practice (ABVP). This is a rare distinction, as only about 350 out of over 60,000 veterinarians in the U.S. are ABVP Canine/Feline Diplomates (less than 1%). This credential signifies a commitment to the highest level of specialized expertise in dog and cat medicine. Thirdly, their Gold Level Certified "Cat Friendly" Practice status and Fear Free Certification underscore their profound dedication to reducing stress and anxiety in pets, especially felines, by training staff in gentle handling and adapting the clinic environment. Lastly, SNVH is proactive in advocating for higher standards in veterinary medicine; they have spearheaded efforts to require licensure for all veterinary technicians in New Hampshire, a state where such licensure is currently not mandated. They also require all their veterinary nurses to be Credentialed Veterinary Technicians, further ensuring high-quality care.
Promotional information for Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital is strongly underpinned by its numerous certifications and overwhelmingly positive client experiences. The glowing review highlights the staff's kindness, knowledge, and comforting nature, noting their patience and gentleness with nervous dogs. This personal touch and ability to make pets feel at ease is a significant draw. While one review expresses a very negative experience regarding a bunny, it's important to note that the positive reviews consistently praise the care for dogs, indicating a strong focus on their primary patient base. The certifications (AAHA, ABVP, Cat Friendly, Fear Free) serve as powerful marketing tools, demonstrating a commitment to the highest quality of care that goes beyond state requirements.
Key promotional messages would therefore emphasize:
- Unmatched Credentials: Highlight their AAHA accreditation and ABVP board-certified ownership, showcasing a commitment to industry-leading standards.
- Stress-Free Environment: Promote their Fear Free and Gold Level Cat Friendly certifications, appealing to pet owners concerned about their animals' anxiety during vet visits.
- Compassionate and Expert Team: Emphasize the caring, patient, and knowledgeable staff, as consistently praised by clients.
- Comprehensive Advanced Care: Detail their wide range of services, including advanced surgical capabilities, diagnostics, dentistry, and even acupuncture.
- Patient Safety and Comfort: Underscore their rigorous protocols for anesthesia, pain management, and surgical sterility.
- Community Involvement: Mention their advocacy for higher technician standards and commitment to professional excellence in New Hampshire.

Mar 02, 2025 · Kristina VThe most uncaring staff that I have ever dealt with!!! My bunny was about to pass away, they refused her. They stated that they don't see bunnies. I told the woman that she just needed to be put to sleep. The same weight as a cat! She wouldn't help me except to give me a number of what veterinarian could. Miles away. I was so distraught as my bunny was dying. I finally found Greenland Animal Hospital and they were so kind and caring. My bunny had passed away while I was driving to Greenland. They looked at her for no charge and gave me a vial of her fur and a pawprint at no charge as well. I would never recommend this uncaring place if my life or my pet's life depended on it. Horrible experience all around.
Dec 03, 2024 · Jady GirlzWe have been using this vet for about 3 years and they have always been great. The vets are super nice, very thoughtful staff. When our cat had to cross the rainbow bridge we got a heartfelt card with her paw print inside. Just a great crew of people.
Oct 07, 2023 · Samantha DoliberTruly take the time and care about your pets. Go into the details of care, medication, and possibly issues so you don't leave the office with more questions. Wonderful staff and would recommend them to anyone in the area.
Oct 05, 2023 · RobFor seven years I have trusted this office with my dogs. They helped me get through the unexpected passing of one of my dogs, and continue to care for Oscar. They have shown again and again, that he is not just a "Dog" or a number from a file. They know him by face and name. The staff seem to genuinely care about him and me. I recommend this office to anyone who asks.
