I have a Morkie and she has had a terrible cough for about a week. I spoke to Teresa on 1/8 but she said she had to call me back and on 1/9 she still hadn’t called me back. I then called the office again and she asked if I “got her message”, No, I never received a message! I need a vet who calls me back when I’m concerned and trying to get my pet in to see a vet. I see 5 stars above, which one day I would have given them those 5 stars, however, right now I give them maybe 2 **. So hard to understand when your pet has had a problem for over a week and then get the promise “calling you back” and never getting that call. When I called her back today, Jan. 9th she said “Did you get my message?”. No, I did not get any messages from you or your office. I guess it’s time for me to move on. If you have had great service there, good for you. For me and my pets, being a loyal customer for many, many years, I think it’s time for me to move on to a practice that can help my pets when they are in need.

Welcome to Southside Animal Hospital

For pet owners in Lansing, Michigan, seeking a reliable "Pet Hospital Near Me," Southside Animal Hospital is located at 5134 S Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Lansing, MI 48911, USA. They can be reached by phone at (517) 882-6614 or via mobile phone at +1 517-882-6614. Based on recent customer reviews, experiences with Southside Animal Hospital appear to be varied, highlighting different aspects of their service.

One customer shared a negative experience regarding communication and responsiveness. This long-term customer reported that their Morkie had been coughing for about a week and detailed their attempts to contact the hospital for assistance. They spoke with a staff member, Teresa, on January 8th, who reportedly said she would call back. However, by January 9th, the call had not been returned. Upon calling again, the customer was asked if they had received a message, which they had not. Expressing frustration over the lack of a timely response when their pet was unwell, this reviewer indicated their intention to seek veterinary care elsewhere, despite having been a loyal customer for many years. This account raises concerns about the hospital's communication practices and follow-up, particularly in situations where pet owners are worried about their animal's health.

In contrast, another customer provided a highly positive review following their dog's recent surgery. This reviewer expressed immense satisfaction with the staff, describing them as "so kind and attentive." They specifically mentioned feeling reassured and comfortable leaving their pet in the care of the veterinarians and staff, highlighting the positive impact of the team's demeanor on their anxiety. This positive feedback suggests that Southside Animal Hospital has a caring and attentive team that can provide comfort and confidence to pet owners during stressful times, such as when their pets undergo surgical procedures.

Considering these two recent reviews, it's evident that customer experiences at Southside Animal Hospital can differ. The positive review suggests a supportive and caring environment, particularly in the context of surgical care, where the staff's attentiveness played a significant role in easing the owner's concerns. This indicates a potential strength in post-operative care and patient comfort.

On the other hand, the negative review points to potential weaknesses in communication and timely follow-up, especially concerning urgent health issues. The lack of a returned call and the apparent miscommunication regarding messages raise questions about the efficiency of their administrative processes and the responsiveness of the staff to customer concerns.

As a "Pet Hospital," Southside Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services beyond routine check-ups. Based on the positive review mentioning surgery, it is reasonable to infer that they provide surgical procedures. Other common services offered by pet hospitals typically include:

  • General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups to monitor your pet's overall health, including vaccinations, parasite control, and health screenings.
  • Diagnostic Services: Utilizing tools such as blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging techniques to diagnose illnesses and injuries.
  • Dental Care: Providing dental cleanings, extractions, and other oral health services.
  • Emergency Care: Offering services for urgent medical situations, although the availability of 24/7 emergency care is not specified in the provided information.
  • Medical Treatments: Managing various illnesses and conditions with medications and other therapies.
  • Vaccinations: Administering necessary vaccines to protect pets from common diseases.
  • Microchipping: Providing a permanent identification method for pets.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Offering guidance on appropriate diets for pets with specific health needs or life stages.

The positive review specifically mentions the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, which is a crucial feature of any reputable pet hospital. A caring and compassionate team can significantly enhance the experience for both pets and their owners, especially during times of illness or stress. The negative review, however, indirectly suggests a potential lack of consistent attentiveness in communication.

The availability of surgery as a service is another key feature implied by the positive feedback. This suggests that Southside Animal Hospital is equipped to handle more complex medical needs beyond routine care.

There is no information regarding promotional offers or special programs at Southside Animal Hospital in the provided text. Local users interested in learning about any current promotions or discounts would need to contact the hospital directly or visit their website or social media pages if available.

In conclusion, Southside Animal Hospital in Lansing, MI, is a "Pet Hospital Near Me" that appears to offer surgical services and has received praise for its kind and attentive staff, particularly in the context of post-operative care. However, a recent negative review highlights potential issues with communication and timely follow-up on pet health concerns. Prospective clients should consider these contrasting experiences and may wish to contact the hospital directly to inquire about their communication protocols, the range of services offered, and any specific concerns they may have regarding their pet's health needs. Visiting the facility might also provide valuable insight into the environment and the overall approach to patient care.

My dog had surgery recently, and I can't say enough good things about the staff! They were so kind and attentive, and it really made all the difference. I often get anxious when I have to leave my pets, but this veterinarian put my mind at ease. I felt completely comfortable knowing my pup was in good hands!

I really trust Dr. Joyce with my pet family. I'm always confident with her diagnosis. Her staff is the best and will treat you well. They love the animals, you can really tell, so I wouldn't worry about taking your beloved pets there. They don't try to pad the bill with a lot of stuff, and if they say tests and meds are needed, then they are. The office has always been clean and looks well taken care of. I highly recommend this office if you're looking for a veterinary clinic.

Dr. Joyce and ALL of the staff are literally life-savers. Our dog, Goose, became very sick seemingly out of nowhere. Dr. Joyce was able to squeeze him in as an emergency case and stabilize him, diagnose the problem (liver failure), and get him on the road to recovery. It’s been a long road, but he is back living his best life and we’ve had Southside staff by our side the entire way. My wife and I have trusted Southside with both of our Standard Poodles over the last few years and would recommend them to anyone seeking a comprehensive and personal experience for both you and your pet.

Had my dog spayed here. This is not our regular vet. Don't know what they did to her but I now have a shell of a dog. She cries and trembles. Will not interact with us.So far I have over $3500 into her for diagnistic testing. Would not take anything breathing here..
