I am TERRIBLY DISGUSTED with this place , and the treatment both my poor kitty and I received. If there was an option for zero stars, believe me .. I’d put it. As most of you know by already reading the reviews and seeing what kind of reputation this place has, most of us are still trying to get our animals fixed for a low cost. As that was exactly what I was trying to do. However, this place is the farthest thing from “affordable” or “safe” for your pets. My kitten sat in his crate on a cold metal shelf for 5-1/2 hours before anything was done with him. At that, I received a call and got told that only one of his testicles were descended. The receptionist continued on by asking if I would be willing to pay an extra $200 to have the other one that’s all the way up in his stomach removed too. Mind you , real licensed vets should be able to find out this information before ever performing anything on your pet. After I declined the extra $200 , she stated that they were gonna go ahead and just neuter the 1 testicle. About 30 minutes later, I receive another call stating that if I am declining to pay the $200 that they can’t do the surgery at all and I can come pick up my cat anytime. I then replied with okay , as I have been sitting in their parking lot for around 8 hours. Once I go in, she did issue me a refund but stated I would have to wait another 2 hours to get my cat back. I then asked why is that, since he didn’t receive any treatment today? She replied stating that they administered him anesthesia and he will have to recover from it. Which makes absolutely no sense on why my cat was not only in a crate for 5 hours before anything happened but then was administered severe medication/sedation for a procedure the vet should’ve known from the start that he wasn’t going to get due to the 1 testicle not being descended. After another 2 hours, and a full 10 hour day of sitting in their parking lot, I finally got my kitty. He had urinated in his crate and all over himself due to the lack of care and organization of this place. My intention is to never bash anyone, but this was by far the most exponentially difficult process both of us had to go through. If you are like me and trying to save a couple bucks, believe me you’d be far better off going somewhere else. They have a lot of other affordable places & options. What an unprofessional and HUGE SCAM this entire process and day was wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park) Introduce
For pet owners in San Diego, California, seeking accessible veterinary care, particularly for spay and neuter procedures, the "Pet Hospital" category offers various options. San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park), located at 2860 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104, USA, aims to provide these essential surgical services. Understanding the environment, services, features, and overall experience is crucial for pet owners when choosing a veterinary care provider. Based on the limited information available online, including customer reviews, we can attempt to provide an objective overview of this clinic.
Information regarding the specific environment of San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park) is not detailed online. However, clinics focusing on spay and neuter services often prioritize efficiency and high volume to maintain affordability. This might translate to a more streamlined and less elaborate setting compared to full-service veterinary hospitals that offer a wider range of diagnostics and treatments. Cleanliness and adherence to basic medical standards are still paramount in such facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals undergoing surgery. The focus is typically on the surgical suites and recovery areas being adequately equipped and maintained for the procedures offered.
The primary services offered by San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park), as indicated by its name and the context of the reviews, are spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs. One positive review mentions a dog undergoing a cryptorchid neuter surgery, which is a more complex procedure involving an undescended testicle. This suggests that the clinic is equipped to handle more than just routine spay and neuter procedures. However, one highly critical review raises concerns about the pre-surgical assessment and communication regarding such complexities, indicating a potential inconsistency in service quality. It's important for pet owners to inquire specifically about the clinic's protocols for pre-operative examinations, communication about any discovered complications, and the qualifications of the veterinary staff performing the surgeries.
Features of a high-volume, affordable spay and neuter clinic often include lower costs compared to traditional veterinary hospitals, making these essential surgeries more accessible to a wider range of pet owners. The positive review highlights the clinic as "the most affordable clinic I found to do this surgery," which underscores this potential feature. Another feature mentioned is a recheck appointment being available when a dog experienced a reaction to sutures. This suggests some level of post-operative care and willingness to address complications. However, the negative review paints a different picture, alleging a lack of thorough initial examination, unexpected additional costs, and a significant waiting time, even for a procedure that was ultimately not performed. The mention of administering anesthesia for a surgery that was then canceled raises serious concerns about the clinic's protocols and communication.
Promotional information for San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park) is not explicitly available in the provided reviews. Affordable pricing itself can be considered a form of promotion, attracting pet owners seeking cost-effective solutions for spay and neuter procedures. However, the contrasting experiences in the reviews suggest that this affordability might come with potential trade-offs in terms of service quality and communication in some cases. Pet owners considering this clinic should inquire about all potential costs upfront, including any additional fees that might arise if complications are found during the pre-operative assessment or surgery.
The two provided customer reviews offer starkly different perspectives on San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park). The positive review describes an "overall good experience" with a complex cryptorchid neuter surgery, praising the affordability and the availability of a recheck. In contrast, the negative review details a "terribly disgusting" experience characterized by long waiting times, alleged lack of proper pre-surgical assessment, unexpected upcharges, administration of anesthesia for a canceled surgery, and poor post-operative care resulting in the pet being soiled. This significant discrepancy in experiences highlights the importance of considering all available feedback and potentially seeking additional information from other sources or directly from the clinic.
Given the conflicting nature of the limited available reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive objective assessment of San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park). While the clinic may offer affordable spay and neuter services, as suggested by its name and one customer's experience, the serious allegations in the other review regarding patient care, communication, and ethical practices cannot be ignored. Pet owners in San Diego considering this clinic should exercise caution, ask detailed questions about the surgical process, pre- and post-operative care, potential additional costs, and the clinic's protocols for handling complications. It would also be prudent to seek more recent reviews or testimonials from other pet owners to get a broader understanding of the current standard of care provided by San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park) within the "Pet Hospital" category.
In conclusion, San Diego Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic (North Park) aims to provide affordable spay and neuter services in the San Diego area. While one customer reported a positive experience with a more complex surgery, another detailed a severely negative experience involving potential issues with pre-surgical assessment, communication, unexpected costs, and patient care. Prospective clients should carefully consider these contrasting viewpoints and conduct thorough due diligence, including asking detailed questions and seeking additional feedback, before entrusting the clinic with the care of their beloved pets. The term "affordable" should be weighed against the potential for compromised service or unexpected issues, as highlighted in the negative review.

Feb 28, 2025 · Makenzie FaganHad an overall good experience here. My dog had a cryptorchid neuter surgery done, he did have some reaction to the sutures but was able to get ahold of them to get a recheck. It can be a little difficult to reach them as there a high volume clinic. They were the most affordable clinic I found to do this surgery as it isn’t a normal neuter. He is back to his dorky healthy self now and thriving!

Feb 22, 2025 · Alyssa RiosGot my baby spayed here for 191$. The little idiot was secretly in heat (not showing any signs), if she wasn't, it would have been 158$ (3$ card fee). Me and my mom went in to go drop her off after I scheduled online and got my times. They assign YOU times, so keep your calendar open, lol. The system is split into groups of people, like batches. You meet behind this clearly labeled building, fill out some paperwork, and then wait for a vet(?) to come out and round your batch together. She checks your pet's vaccine info and the paperwork you filled out while waiting. Once you're inside the building, they go through pets 2 at a time. They call in 2 people with their pets into a small room with 2 vets(?). The owner takes their pet out of their carriers to get weighed, then the pet is put back into the carrier. For cats, they had the previously checked carriers on this metal shelf lol. Then you can leave. Once you come back: you pick up your pet, you pick up their medication, one of the vets(?) will tell you some basic info, then you're on your way!! I do recommend buying a little soft cone / surgery shirt after getting your pet fixed. The hard cones they provide are a bit overpriced for essentially a sheet of thick plastic that you tie to your pet's neck with a paracord rope. Also, one of the vets there had a very rush-y attitude. When I was with another owner getting our pets weighed, the cat, cowboy, didn't want to come out of his carrier. So the vet tips the carrier a bit so the cat slides out, idk! Just a bit strange. I think that same vet was in charge of phones today. Almost in tears, I call them back because I think my little idiot might need a recheck. I think it was the same vet (they had very similar voices at least), and as I was explaining what was wrong with my little moron she cut me off and unenthusiastically explained how they only did rechecks 12-3 pm. Almost made me cry from that alone!! Mean! TLDR; Bring extra money and buy a surgery shirt / softcone beforehand. And maybe be prepared to cry a little
