Amazing staff and a beautiful, clean place! They always treat my little Remy so good, especially since he gets super nervous at the Vet. We recently seen Dr. Hughes for a checkup and to update his rabies shot, very informative and gentle with my Shih Tzu!

Jan 31, 2025 · Amber PoffThis place and the staff are just amazing. I have been taking my furbabies to another vet in the area and this other vet refused to allow my GSD to come in without being sedated due to her aggression toward small dogs. So when my baby needed urgent care, I was worried about what to do and where to take her. I called Salem Vet, they were able to get me in same day, they made accommodations for my dogs "special needs" and with an almost all female staff, my girl felt very comfortable. The Dr and techs did a wonderful job and took the time to listen. Did the proper testing and listened when I had questions about the potential side effects of the medication. I cannot say enough how relieved I am to have gained so much trust so quickly with everyone in this office. And now with my girl on the mend, I will choose Salem Veterinary hospital for all of my furry friends. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this office.
Dec 06, 2024 · Christine GreinerSalem Veterinary has been wonderful every time we have had to bring our dog in. We recently saw Dr.Giles for an issue our dog was having with her paw. She took the time to listen to us and do a thorough evaluation on her. Fast forward 2 weeks and our dog is improving everyday! They truly care about the animals and properly treating them. Thanks Dr. Giles!
Sep 12, 2024 · Mallory JenningsHave been going here for a few years for my dog Yoshi and I have had nothing but excellent pet care/customer service by Dr. Sheffield and the amazing team at Salem Veterinary Hospital. You can tell they have a genuine care for animals and their well being. The receptionist team gets a special shout out for being courteous and professional which (unfortunately) not all veterinary practices have.
Nov 13, 2024 · stryker5889I wasn’t going to write a bad review because everyone makes mistakes but after today, I felt like I needed to. I took my dog here a few months ago because she was looking a little swollen in the belly. I was told by the vet that she had a liver mass, she implied she had cancer in other places and basically told me she had 3 to 6 months to live. She had no symptoms so I wanted to get a second opinion. I took her to Blue Pearl and we found out that her liver was completely fine. What she actually had a kidney cyst (no cancer or chronic condition, just a one off scenario). Her kidney was removed last week, she is recovering great and is expected to live the rest of her days as normal. None of her other organs were affected. At this point, I wasn’t going to write a review because I know that they did a very basic ultrasound and x-ray and I don’t know much about being a veterinarian so I figured it could’ve been a mistake based off of the tools that they had. However, today I took my other dog to a new vet so we could be established as a patient (because obviously we don’t want to go back to someone who gave us such a wrong diagnosis). Come to find out they did not give him his vaccines correctly the last time he was there. I even called our vet in North Carolina to see if they gave them the wrong information and they told me one of the vaccines he was missing is a yearly vaccine so there’s no reason they should have marked it as a three year. The diagnosis and missing vaccines has cost us $2000 more than what we should’ve paid to treat both our dogs. Our dog with the kidney issue got an ultrasound that was not needed (she actually needed a CT scan, which we also paid for later down the road) and I had to get additional vaccines for my other dog today due to their mistakes. We made the decision to do everything we can for our dogs (our bills now totaling over $10,000 just for what I’ve talked about above), but not everyone is able to do that and every $ counts. Please do better.
