We love Red Butte Vet! We started coming here when my dog was a puppy and I was a U student, and we stayed with them through the years and even though we have since moved to another town. The doctors are kind, knowledgeable, and provide great information. The staff is kind, responsive, and compassionate.

Nov 20, 2024 · Snook WilliamsBEWARE!!! Dr. Brandt at Red Butte Veterinary Care removed all of our dog’s teeth (TWENTY-ON TEETH!!!) without consulting us when we were only told that our dog had mild-to-moderate tartar and swelling!!! Posting for a friend. Ms. Brandt is the most disorganized and scattered individual I have dealt with in any situation. We were very wary of her because of this and because she tried to push us into having a canine removed from a 12-week-old puppy. Dr. Gregg, who was the vet we were seeing at Red Butte but only works 1 day a week, noted to us in a later appointment that not only would this have been unnecessary due to it being a baby tooth that will fall out, but also that the procedure would require getting into the jaw, which is serious and probably irresponsible. We brought our 2 older dogs in for routine dental work because Dr. Gregg, who we felt was competent despite now knowing that there is little-to-no communication between him and Ms. Brandt and he does not perform any procedures, had noted that our King Charles cavalier had mild-to-moderate tartar and swelling and might need a few extractions, but nothing serious, so we scheduled the appointment. When we picked up our dogs, Ms. Brandt had removed every single one of the cavalier's teeth without consulting us. Not only that, I have text messages proving that I was only told there would be some extractions, with zero mention that they would remove TWENTY-ONE teeth!!! This is a pet parent’s worst nightmare!! She then proceeded in SCREAM in my partner’s face when confronted, accused us of not loving our dogs, and tried to blame it on her staff. She also claimed that dogs never show pain or discomfort unless they are at death's door, which is absurd at best. She also insinuated that my partner was abusing me and claimed we switched vets because our old vet was incompetent. Olympus Hills is a fantastic veterinary clinic and I would recommend them to anyone. We only switched because they are very busy and being new to puppy ownership, we wanted a little extra attention. We have since moved to Sugarhouse vet (we love them so far) and learned that not only was an x-ray in the original set for our cavalier missing, but that Ms. Brandt did not describe any of the reasons for the extractions and failed to take post-op x-rays, which is the bare minimum of what should be done according to the the American Veterinary Dental College: https://avdc.org/about/ The quality of life for our cavalier, who was our confident, happy, carefree, eternal puppy, has significantly diminished. He is totally disfigured, can't hold his tongue in his mouth, struggles to eat soft food, and has become extremely agitated because he has lost his natural defenses and ability to protect his food (even though the dogs are fed separately). We would never ever have agreed to have all his teeth removed and would never have taken him in at all if we had been informed it was even an option. Finally, we also learned that she had us feeding our puppy only half of what he needs in a day and he was on the verge of malnourishment. I have heard other horror stories and wish I’d known them before she mutilated our baby. Please read the Yelp reviews and lower-star Google reviews. This is by no means an isolated incident. Protect your pets and find a competent and caring vet.

Jun 12, 2024 · Brandon CruzI adopted my baby Husky girl back in 2017 when she was only 3 weeks old under a challenging circumstance. Dr. Brandt has been taking outstanding care of my Husky girl since day one! Red Butte Vet is a pillar of support & expertise and I’m so grateful for having Dr Brandt as our primary care vet! Her unwavering commitment to pets well-being and genuine love for animals is remarkable. The staff in general has always been excellent - helpful, caring and proactive. This is very dear to my heart & I appreciate being able to trust Red Butte with my dog’s health & well-being.
Dec 06, 2023 · Silvia PedriniDr. Brandt is an incredibly skilled and compassionate veterinarian. Without a doubt she saved my dog’s life after a sudden onset of bloat with his stomach flipping. Dr. Brandt and her team were able to perform an emergency surgery to save my dog’s life. My family will be forever grateful.
