So my horse came up lame, I talked to the vet through text about what to do etc. long story short I asked if she could come “put eyes on him” after 3 days of no improvement. She said “I’m right down the street I can come on my way back to the office and just look at him for you” I told her I had to work and couldn’t be there then. She said she could come anyway and she’ll call me when she gets there. She wound up doing all these crazy tests, X-rays, blocks, advanced blood work, sonogram etc etc. The bill wound up being $1500!!!!! I NEVER authorized ANY of these tests I was also charged $400 for an “emergency “ visit which I wasn’t told before hand. I literally JUST wanted her to look at him, maybe give some meds and call it a day. (My horse just needed some rest and was completely fine in a week fyi. ) The billing woman Michelle called me every week to get a payment which I was unable to pay considering I had just lost my fiancé to cancer and was trying to find my footing still AND even said to me “you can’t pay this bill and you own a horse” ummm HOW DARE SHE! Not only was she rude over and over but I SHOULD NOT have to pay this bill! At least if she knocked off some money maybe I’d feel better about it but nope! I’ve worked for vets for over 16 years and we would NEVER do ANY tests or anything like that without getting authorization from the owner FIRST! Now they’re sending me to collections! Needless to say IM VERY UNHAPPY and EXTREMELY UPSET! Just be careful

You can reach us at (845) 361-4917 or our mobile number +1 845-361-4917 to learn more about our services or to schedule an appointment. To offer a balanced perspective, we have reviewed the recent feedback from our customers.
The customer reviews for Pine Bush Equine Services and Veterinary Hospital present contrasting experiences. One review details a highly negative encounter regarding the treatment of a lame horse. According to this account, the owner communicated with a vet via text and requested an in-person examination. The vet agreed to come and see the horse. However, the situation allegedly escalated with the vet performing numerous tests, including X-rays, blocks, advanced blood work, and a sonogram, leading to a $1500 bill. The reviewer claims they did not authorize these tests and were also charged a $400 "emergency" visit fee without prior notification. The owner's initial intention was simply for the vet to examine the horse and possibly provide medication. The reviewer mentioned that their horse recovered with rest within a week. Furthermore, this customer reported being contacted weekly by a billing representative named Michelle for payment, even while grieving the loss of their fiancé. The reviewer was particularly upset by a comment from the billing representative about owning a horse and not being able to pay the bill. Having worked in the veterinary field for over 16 years, this customer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the lack of authorization for the extensive testing and the subsequent billing practices, ultimately advising caution to others.
Conversely, another customer shared a deeply emotional and positive experience with Pine Bush Equine Services. This long-term client recounted the difficult decision to humanely euthanize their 30-year-old mare. They expressed gratitude to Dr. Lucia for her understanding and acceptance of their wish to have the mare's herd present during her passing to witness and mourn. The reviewer appreciated Dr. Lucia's efficiency in sedating the mare and allowing the other horses to be present. They specifically thanked the hospital for their understanding and professionalism during this sensitive time.
Given these two reviews, it is evident that while some clients have experienced compassionate and understanding care, particularly in emotionally challenging situations like euthanasia, others have raised significant concerns regarding communication, authorization for procedures, and billing practices.

May 14, 2025 · K KorneliussenPine Bush has been caring for my animals for many years. Today was the day every equine owner dreads when I had to make the decision to humanely euthanize my 30 yr old mare who has been in my life for 29 yrs. She is the matriarch of the herd and I wanted to allow the others to be present during her passing allowing them to witness and mourn. Dr. Lucia was understanding and accepting of this and worked efficiently to sedate our Boss mare and allow the heard to be present during her passing. I am so grateful for your understanding and professionalism. THANK YOU!

Apr 01, 2025 · Erin SchoeberlSo thankful to have Pine Bush Equine around for the horses at my farm - the highest level of veterinary care and the most compassionate crew I know - from all the vets in the practice to the assistants and receptionist. Dr Beth Ross and Dr Mike Ross are my number one go to for surgeries, performance/soundness evaluation or a pre-purchase exam - extremely knowledgeable and thorough - and the best eyes I know!
