I have nothing but wonderful things to say about New Prague Animal Care! The care and knowledge given by the doctors, techs and office staff is exceptional. All the staff are so kind, patient and compassionate. They are so supportive in the ongoing care of my pets! Our dog is fear reactive and the staff always does such an amazing job of taking the extra time and comfort he needs. They ease my owner anxiety and have developed a great relationship with him to calm his nerves. Our cat suffered a complication of a surgery done by another veterinarian years prior and the doctors cared for her as if she were their own. They explained everything that was happening and their treatment plans in great detail. They offered many options and helped me choose the best one for us. The staff is so caring, I appreciate the check-in calls after procedures. We are lifetime customers, I will never bring my pets anywhere else!

Welcome to New Prague Animal Care
New Prague Animal Care, located at 415 4th Ave NW, New Prague, MN 56071, USA, operates as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary services. They can be reached by phone at (952) 758-6722 or via mobile at +1 952-758-6722. This clinic aims to offer a full spectrum of medical care for pets, supported by a team that often receives high praise for its kindness, patience, and compassion. While generally well-regarded for its routine and ongoing care, it's important for potential clients to understand the nuances of its emergency care protocols, as reflected in varied customer experiences.
The environment at New Prague Animal Care is designed to facilitate effective veterinary treatment while striving to create a comfortable and supportive atmosphere for both pets and their owners. A professional "Pet Hospital" typically features a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area, well-equipped examination rooms, and dedicated spaces for diagnostics, surgical procedures, and recovery. The positive reviews highlight a staff that takes "extra time and comfort" with pets, particularly those that are "fear reactive." This suggests an environment that prioritizes minimizing stress and anxiety for animal patients. Such practices often include using calming pheromones, separate waiting areas, or gentle handling techniques. While specific details on the physical layout are not available, the emphasis on patient comfort implies a thoughtful design aimed at reducing the inherent stress of a vet visit. The facility is equipped to handle various procedures, from routine check-ups to managing complex health issues, as evidenced by the care provided for a cat with surgical complications from a prior procedure.
New Prague Animal Care provides a wide range of veterinary services, addressing various aspects of pet health throughout their lives. Based on client testimonials, their offerings likely include:
Comprehensive Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the core of their practice, encompassing regular check-ups, tailored vaccination schedules, and effective parasite control programs for fleas, ticks, and internal parasites. Their long-term patient relationships suggest a focus on ongoing preventive health management.
Advanced Diagnostic Services: While specific equipment is not detailed, a modern veterinary clinic typically offers in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and imaging services (such as X-rays or ultrasound) to accurately diagnose various medical conditions.
Medical and Surgical Treatments: They handle a range of medical conditions and perform surgical procedures, as indicated by their care for a cat with post-surgical complications. This would include common procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as addressing more complex health issues.
Pain Management: Providing solutions to alleviate discomfort and improve the quality of life for pets with acute or chronic pain.
Dental Care: Essential services for maintaining oral hygiene, from cleanings to addressing dental diseases.
Behavioral Consultations and Support: A notable service, particularly for pets with anxiety or fear reactivity. The staff's ability to take "extra time and comfort" with a fear-reactive dog and "calm his nerves" demonstrates expertise in managing challenging behaviors and alleviating owner anxiety.
Client Education and Detailed Communication: The staff excels at explaining "everything that was happening and their treatment plans in great detail." They offer "many options and helped me choose the best one for us," indicating a collaborative and transparent approach to pet care decisions.
Post-Procedure Follow-up: The appreciation for "check-in calls after procedures" highlights their commitment to continuous care and monitoring during recovery.
The most compelling features of New Prague Animal Care, according to positive client feedback, are the exceptional kindness, patience, and compassion of their entire staff – from the doctors and technicians to the office personnel. This empathetic approach is particularly valuable for pets with specific behavioral challenges, such as fear reactivity, where the team's willingness to take "extra time and comfort" significantly improves the pet's experience and reduces owner anxiety. This personal touch fosters strong client loyalty, as evidenced by the statement "We are lifetime customers, I will never bring my pets anywhere else!" The detailed explanations of diagnoses and treatment options, along with offering multiple choices to suit the owner's needs, further underscore their patient-centered care philosophy.
However, an important feature to consider, as highlighted by a negative review, pertains to their emergency care policy. The experience of a long-standing client being turned away with a critically ill cat and referred to an emergency clinic 40 minutes away due to the clinic being "too busy" reveals a limitation in their capacity to handle immediate, severe emergencies, especially for existing patients during peak times. While many general practices operate on a referral system for emergencies, this particular instance caused significant distress for a pet owner who felt their "beloved pet" was denied care when he "most needed compassionate care." This suggests that while New Prague Animal Care excels in routine and scheduled care, and even complex non-emergency cases, it may not function as a primary emergency stabilization point for all critical situations, potentially requiring owners to seek specialized emergency veterinary care elsewhere, even for long-term patients.
From a promotional standpoint, New Prague Animal Care's strongest asset is the overwhelming positive sentiment from its satisfied, loyal customer base. The testimonials highlighting their "wonderful things to say" and commitment to being "lifetime customers" are incredibly powerful endorsements. Their focus on fear-free handling, detailed communication, and supportive ongoing care naturally attracts pet owners seeking a compassionate and understanding veterinary partner. Their ability to handle complex medical issues, as demonstrated by the cat with prior surgical complications, also speaks to their competence. For local users, the clinic's website likely serves as a primary source of information, detailing their services and potentially showcasing their philosophy on patient care and staff expertise. They might also engage in community outreach or educational events to further establish their presence. However, it is crucial for New Prague Animal Care to clearly communicate its emergency care protocols to all clients, especially long-standing ones, to manage expectations and ensure pet owners know where to go in truly dire, immediate situations. This transparency, even for a respected practice, is vital for maintaining trust and ensuring the best outcomes for pets in all circumstances. While they provide exceptional daily care, local users should be aware that acute emergencies might require immediate referral to specialized emergency veterinary hospitals.

Dec 11, 2024 · Victoria SimsBased on a tragic situation today, i cannot recommend this place for your beloved pets. My 7 year old cat has been seen here for his entire life. Sadly, we found our cat in a dire condition today, when he was found panting, drooling, howling in pain, and unable to move his back legs and tail. We rushed him to this clinic, where he has been seen regularly for his entire life. I am deeply troubled that we were turned away and sent to an emergency vet clinic 40 minutes away. Although there were several patients waiting at the emergency vet, our sick cat was seen immediately due to the seriousness of his presentation. The emergency vet very quickly diagnosed our cat with FATE, which was devastating news. But New Prague Animal Care was too busy to treat one of their own long-standing patients when he most needed compassionate care. I am so disappointed.
Apr 19, 2025 · Michele MI do not recommend this place. No compassion, bad customer service (receptionist sounded like she didn’t care nor was listening to what I was telling her). My dog condition gotten worsened (I brought her twice and the third time I tried to make an appointment they said they were fulled and told me to bring her somewhere else). I’m taking my dog somewhere else where they can actually care to treat her well and provide correct medication. I brought my dog on June because I saw small spots black skin and her ear was hurting. So they only focused on treating her ear infection but not the skin infection. Gave me some bogus allergies medication that I thought it was going to prevent infections and itching which it did nothing. Fast forward today my dog looks in a very rough condition compared to when I first brought it. Also, they didn’t really explain to me what she had only that she had allergies and didn’t know what it was. I did some googling and it looks like she might have Alopecia so I’m hoping that there is a treatment for her condition. Am very disappointed & upset. Update: I brought my dog to another vet in eagan and she was immediately prescribed antibiotics. Now, my dog is so much better and the vet only examined her and was able to determine she had skin infection and told me the allergy medication was not going to do anything without treating the main issue. My dog’s fur is growing back and she’s feeling better. The eagan vet seems to care a lot and the customer service was fantastic.
Oct 02, 2024 · Yury PWe recently started taking our fur babies to this clinic, and are absolutely happy we did so! We have a 16 yr old cat, and a puppy that’s less than 6 months. We were recommended by a loving staff member whom we know personally, and we have now made this Clinic our primary for the “kids”. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond with care for our cat who has a tumor. You can tell they really care about each animal that comes in there. I would highly recommend this clinic, and their staff!
Mar 09, 2023 · Trisha GastThank you to the entire staff I encountered here. When my previous vet proved to be unreliable, I decided to bring my elderly cat here for grooming and a time later end of life services. Everyone I encountered showed genuine compassion and provided exceptional care. I especially want to thank them for being respectful when I needed to end my pet Maya’s life. I highly recommend anyone to bring their pet here for care. If or when I decide to adopt another pet, I will definitely be back. Thank you!
